  1. What a time to be alive! Absolute privilege to be witnessing Lawless and Graham on the ascent in the higher echelons of our charts... LAWLESS & GRAHAM ON THE ASCENT ● With his 45th competitive goal, Steven Lawless moves up to joint-48th in our elite competitive goals chart, overtaking Jimmy Davidson and George Wyllie. ● With his brace on the day, 58-goal Brian Graham moves up to joint-33rd in our elite competitive goals chart, overtaking Chris Erskine, Jim Melrose & Maurice Johnston in one fell swoop. ● Tomi Adeloye scores his first goal for Thistle. Peachy. ● Harry Milne's 77th minute dismissal leaves Aaron Muirhead as the last-man-standing in terms of 100% competitive game-time in 2023-24. ● Good to see a spread of 7 players on the goals/assists sheet. Four different players (McInroy, McMillan, Robinson & Stanway) register an assist, matching a tally last seen in the 5-0 win at Cove Rangers in April 2023. ● Thistle register their 100th competitive win over Morton, who become the 4th club to have been so defeated, following on from Clyde (126), Airdrie (112) and Killie (103). ● Thistle have registered more competitive wins at Cappielow (45) than any other away ground. ● Thistle have now failed to keep a clean-sheet in their opening 9 competitive games of the season. You need to rewind to 2003 (16) to find a longer opening run in that regard. ongoing sequences: ● 12 competitive home games without defeat; 4th Mar 2023 to date. (Longest run since: 13 games; 19th Jan 2013 to 27th Aug 2013. Club-record: 24 games; 5th May 2001 to 17th Aug 2002.) ● 37 consecutive competitive appearances for Aidan Fitzpatrick, 3rd Dec 2022 to date, a new personal best. (Longest run since: Jack McMillan - 52 games, 9th Jul 2022 to 4th Jun 2023. Club-record: Johnny Jackson - 313 games, 28th Aug 1926 to 25th Mar 1933.)

  3. Oh, and we have published the (intended as definitive) list of player's red cards, both for Thistle and the opposition. Navigate via lists / discipline to find them... Thistle sendings-off →
  4. Cheers bud. No, you're not missing anything obvious. It's a simple case of the overall production burden being too much with ~15,000 pages and counting. There's much earmarked to be done and, ultimately, a game-by-game breakdown per player would be one of many things aspired to. Meantime, please get in touch via DM or e-mail when you need an individual breakdown on subs/cards/games/game time, will be able to supply such a thing straight away for all players, all-time. ~ William
  5. Per below, today we're very pleased to be introducing another 24 seasons of reserve team matches, from the mid 1930s to the mid 1950s, complete with potted match reports wherever it's possible to do so. Interestingly, Thistle Reserves were third tier champions in 1954-55 but the SFL rules prevented promotion for second string clubs! 1932-33 1933-34 1934-35 1935-36 1936-37 1937-38 1938-39 1939-40 1940-41 1941-42 1942-43 1943-44 1944-45 1945-46 1946-47 1947-48 1948-49 1949-50 1950-51 1951-52 1952-53 1953-54 1954-55 1955-56 Looking ahead, we're still searching for information about a couple of missing reserve fixtures for season 1980-81. These are Queen's Park (A) and Rangers (H). Dates played not known. Also, if anyone has programmes for the following matches we'd be grateful if they could contact us so that we can pick up anything by way of line-ups or reports these programmes might contain. Programmes were not sequentially numbered so it's not possible to tell if they were all issued: Rangers 6/8/1980 Queen's Park 27/8/1980 St Mirren 3/9/1980 St Mirren 13/9/1980 Rangers 12/1/1981 Celtic 29/4/1981 Many thanks.
  6. Most of the post-Falkirk updates now in place, including a decent highlights package. The Thistle Archive → HARD TO WIN vs. McGLYNN ● At the time of writing, Thistle have more connections with Falkirk (148) than with any other club. Unfortunately, one of them (Ross MacIver) comes back to haunt us with the opening goal. ● Kris Doolan's Jags trail at half-time for the first time ever. You need to rewind to the 4th February 2023 to find the last such occurrence, when Thistle were behind by one goal to nil at home to Cove Rangers. ● In a second consecutive game at Firhill an opponent is sent-off. ● The prolific Brian Graham scores in a 4th consecutive game at Firhill. ● James Lyon scores his first competitive goal for Thistle to rescue a precious point in stoppage time. ● Isolating the query to a reasonable 10 competitive games minimum, John McGlynn remains in the all-time Top 20 opposition managers in terms of points-per-game. It's highly impressive when you consider he's achieved that with clubs such as Raith Rovers and Falkirk. Thistle have registered just 3 wins in 19 against McGlynn, resulting in a paltry ratio of 0.789 ppg. ongoing sequences: ● 9 competitive home games without defeat; 4th Mar 2023 to date. (Longest run since: 13 games; 19th Jan 2013 to 27th Aug 2013. Club-record: 24 games; 5th May 2001 to 17th Aug 2002.) ● 31 consecutive competitive appearances for Aidan Fitzpatrick, 3rd Dec 2022 to date, a new personal best. (Longest run since: Jack McMillan - 52 games, 9th Jul 2022 to 4th Jun 2023. Club-record: Johnny Jackson - 313 games, 28th Aug 1926 to 25th Mar 1933.)
  7. Most of the post-United updates now in place on the Archive... The Thistle Archive → FIRST CUP WIN IN 48 YEARS ● 21-year-old Ben Williamson makes his Thistle debut. At the time of writing he brings our club connections with Dundee and Raith Rovers to exactly 100 each! ● Amazingly, Thistle have now scored in THIRTEEN consecutive first halves. It's the longest such run since March 1938, when an impressive 14-in-a-row was registered, and the third longest run of all-time. ● With his 53rd goal, the amazing Brian Graham now enters the All-Time Top 40 scorers in terms of competitive action. ● Thistle defeat Dundee United in a cup match for the first time since 1975, when they also won 2-1 in a League Cup group game at Tannadice. That was actually the last year that the Jags reached the semi final stage of the competition. ● With only 2 defeats in 21 competitive games, Kris Doolan is wildly out in front with the greatest points-per-game ratio (2.05) of any Thistle manager in history, ahead of McNamara (1.62) and Meiklejohn (1.47). ongoing sequences: ● 8 competitive home games without defeat; 4th Mar 2023 to date. (Longest run since: 8 games; 3rd Mar 2020 to 5th Dec 2020. Club-record: 24 games; 5th May 2001 to 17th Aug 2002.) ● 30 consecutive competitive appearances for Aidan Fitzpatrick, 3rd Dec 2022 to date, a new personal best. (Longest run since: Jack McMillan - 52 games, 9th Jul 2022 to 4th Jun 2023. Club-record: Johnny Jackson - 313 games, 28th Aug 1926 to 25th Mar 1933.)
  8. Loads of updates on the site today as the competitive season gets underway... The Thistle Archive → RECORD SHOOT-OUT MARATHON ● Thistle are back in competitive action after 41 days, setting a brand new club-record for the shortest-ever close season in that category. The previous record (42 days) was set in 1945. ● After featuring in all 52 competitive games of 2022-23, Jack McMillan misses the first such game of 2023-24 through injury before a ball is kicked! ● For only the second time in history, Thistle list 2 substitute goalkeepers, David Mithchell and Mason McCready creating the rare stat. We first seen such a thing on 4th May 2021 when Jamie Sneddon and Mason McCready were both listed on the bench. Almost unbelievably, Peterhead also list 2 sub 'keepers, meaning that there were an unprecedented SIX goalkeepers on the teamsheet! ● Thistle's 78th League Cup campaign gets underway. They've reached the final on 4 occasions, but haven't so much as reached a semi final since 1975. ● After just 2 minutes and 6 seconds of play, Harry Milne of Partick Thistle scores the first competitive goal of the Scottish football season for 2023-24. Shea Gordon was the last Jag to do such a thing back in July 2018. ● Amazingly, Thistle have now scored in TWELVE consecutive first halves. It's the longest such run since March 1938, when an impressive 14-in-a-row was registered. ● For the first-time in history, two consecutive competitive Partick Thistle matches are concluded by a penalty shoot-out. ● New club-records in a penalty shoot-out are set from every angle; most taken (24), highest aggregate (19), and most scored by Thistle (10). The previous goals record (7-8) was set in 2005 vs. St Johnstone. Ben Stanway & Steven Lawless score two apiece and Jamie Sneddon secures the bonus point by saving the 24th kick from (former Jag) Andy McCarthy! ● Jamie Sneddon retains his 100% success rate in penalty shoot-outs, now with 3 successful contests. In this regard, he takes over from Jonny Tuffey as the statistical #1, Tuffey having been a winner in 2 out of 2 contests. Kenny Arthur remains #1 in terms of overall wins, having been successful in 4 of his 7 contests. ● What is it with Thistle and teams from the North? Peterhead join Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Ross County and St Johnstone as the clubs with most penalty shoot-outs contests with the Jags, all now sitting at three apiece. ● In purely Scottish terms, back to back competitive games in Dingwall and Peterhead represents the second longest two-game jaunt in the club's history. Based on distancecalculator.net's town centre to town centre mileage, the 716 miles round trip is beaten only by the two games in Dingwall (724 miles) played in October 2010. ongoing sequences: ● 8 competitive home games without defeat; 4th Mar 2023 to date. (Longest run since: 8 games; 3rd Mar 2020 to 5th Dec 2020. Club-record: 24 games; 5th May 2001 to 17th Aug 2002.) ● 29 consecutive competitive appearances for Aidan Fitzpatrick, 3rd Dec 2022 to date, a new personal best. (Longest run since: Jack McMillan - 52 games, 9th Jul 2022 to 4th Jun 2023. Club-record: Johnny Jackson - 313 games, 28th Aug 1926 to 25th Mar 1933.)

  10. Thanks mate, yes, we got him, please keep us in mind if you crack the case!
  11. That section that links to Stuart's site is just there for convenience for the Thistle community, but it's nothing to do with The Thistle Archive. Have asked him what's up with it, but no clue. Might need to knock it on the head for now, which is a shame as he's got lots of good scrapbook material gathered. Your knowledge off the cuff is very good on that Fulham game! starting eleven: Mark Crossley Liam Rosenior Jérôme Bonnissel Ian Pearce Sylvain Legwinski Alain Goma Darren Pratley Billy McKinlay Andy Cole Collins John Luís Boa Morte subs: Edwin van der Sar Dean Leacock Adam Green Zak Knight Moritz Volz Zesh Rehman Carlos Bocanegra Brian McBride Claus Jensen Tomasz Radzinski Mark Pembridge substitutions: Liam Rosenior (Moritz Volz, HT); Andy Cole (Brian McBride, HT); Jérôme Bonnissel (Carlos Bocanegra, 70 mins); Collins John (Tomasz Radzinski, 70 mins); Luís Boa Morte (Mark Pembridge, 70 mins); Sylvain Legwinski (Claus Jensen, 72 mins); Billy McKinlay (Zesh Rehman, 77 mins)

  13. A lively start to 2023-24 with an impressive brand new club-record to savour... Kelty Hearts 1 Partick Thistle 2 → NEW CLUB-RECORD FOR BRIAN GRAHAM! ● The opening game of the 149th season of Partick Thistle F.C. ● Thistle are back in action after 30 days, matching the club-record for the shortest close season, which was set back in 1951, the 'Festival of Britain' season. ● Thistle play on the 4th July for the first-time ever. Only 7 calendar dates remain unplayed. ● The amazing Brian Graham becomes the first Jag in history to score in 4 consecutive season openers. The #9 had previously scored in wins over BSC Glasgow (2020), Kelty Hearts (2021) and Alloa Athletic (2022). The previous record (3-in-a-row) was jointly held by Willie Paul (1893), John Wallace (1938), Willie Newall (1943) and Alex Stott (1952). ● Amazingly, Thistle have now scored in ELEVEN consecutive first halves. It's the longest such run since March 1938, when an impressive 14-in-a-row was registered. ● 16-year-old Ché Campbell makes his Thistle debut. ● 16/17-year-old Sallu Turay makes his Thistle debut. ● 22-year-old Euan East (as a trialist) makes his Thistle debut. ● 20-year-old Harrison Nee (as a trialist) makes his Thistle debut and becomes the latest member of our scoring debutants club. ● 23-year-old Wasiri Williams makes his Thistle debut. ● 25-year-old Dominic Morgan-Griffiths (as a trialist) makes his Thistle debut. ● 25-year-old Josh Kerr (as a trialist) makes his Thistle debut. ● 31-year-old Scott Robinson makes his Thistle debut. ● 8 new players as above takes our A-Z beyond the 2,000 threshold. An incredible 2,001 players are known to have featured in a first-team squad since 1876. ● It's now played 4, won 4 for Thistle in the H2H versus Kelty Hearts (albeit the run includes 3 friendlies). ● Thistle win a 5th consecutive season-opener (2019-2023) for the first time since doing so between 1977 and 1981.
  14. Massive day for everyone who has an interest in the history of this great institution that we all cherish... ...we recently researched the correct birth date of JOHN BLAIR the immortal, whose goal won the Scottish Cup for Thistle in 1921. Today is a perfect day to announce this, together with a big update to his life story... as he was born ON THIS DAY in 1897 in Saltcoats! John Blair → To celebrate, the famous letter of 1921 becomes the 20th item in our virtual museum. But what was his Scottish Cup win bonus talked about in the letter? The esteemed Robert Reid reveals all... The John Blair letter @ The Archive Museum → We REALLY wanted to secure all the birth days in time for the 100th anniversary of the cup win a couple of years ago, but one player always eluded us. Perhaps it was meant to be, as we'd have been wrong about John Blair back then. FINALLY though, we're ****-a-hoop to have nailed down the birth details for MATT WILSON, the last (and as it turns out, the youngest @ 19!) of our Scottish Cup winners to be ID'd. American immigration docs were the key which unlocked. His 'Bio Extra' entry is greatly expanded upon today... Matt Wilson → And so, on the 126th anniversary of John Blair's birth, we're very proud to present your 1921 Scottish Cup winners, the starting eleven now fully aged for the momentous occasion. This is Thistle history being written; better late than never, eh? Partick Thistle 1 Rangers 0, 16 April 1921 →
  15. Used to be a lot more than 6 mind - Northern, Cowlairs, Thistle and Linthouse were all members of the SFL who became defunct. Losing one more wouldn't hurt! Fun fact: Jags have beaten Clyde more times in competitive action (126) than any other club.
  16. Wasn't all that long ago that we discovered the oldest known footage of Partick Thistle in action at Firhill (1956) and now - the second oldest, wow! Treasured glimpses from the excellent new Archie McPherson episode of the BBC Icons series... 14-Sep-1968 Partick Thistle 4 Clyde 0 (SFL First Division - game 2) →
  17. A couple of cool new pages added to the Archive today, inspired by Scotland. Thistle have done well against Norwegian, Spanish and Cypriot sides, losing just once in 14 games! In total, Thistle have played 241 matches against opponents from 24 countries aside from Scotland. As well as the summary table, our new page lists each match alphabetically by country then club... Results Summary: Non-Scottish (All Games), by country → Thistle's 241 foreign jousts have resulted in 139 non Scottish opponents from Aalborg to Zagreb. As well as a summary table, our second new lists each match chronologically... Results Summary: Non-Scottish (All Games), by opponent →
  18. Undoubtedly it was better to have crashed and burned under Doolan than to have faded away under McCall, but that was possibly the most horrendous collapse in the history of this football club. Drained. Shell-shocked. Disconsolate. Think we've all been through the wringer in the last few days. Recovery from this may not be so easy... ... was hard to get motivated to assemble the 55th and final match hub of the season, but it's done now, if you can bear to look. The hub carries a good report from Graeme McGarry, as well as several video options, and we're hoping to embed some photos from Donald Wilson soon. Elsewhere, the final squad stats tables make for incredible reading, 130 competitive goals or assists from just 7 Jags (Brian Graham, Kyle Turner, Scott Tiffoney, Jack McMillan, Steven Lawless, Aidan Fitzpatrick, Kevin Holt) which is way off the scale of normality. It's been quite the season in so many ways. The Thistle Archive → UNWANTED FINAL RECORD ● The closing game of the 148th season of Partick Thistle F.C. ● At 348 days ('All Games') 2022-23 breaks the previous longest season record (1889-90) by 10 days and at 330 days ('Competitive') it breaks that previous record (1995-96) by 4 days. ● Thistle play on the 4th June for the first-time ever. Only 8 calendar dates remain unplayed. ● Thistle field the same starting eleven in a fifth consecutive game, the longest such run since 5-in-a-row in late 2020. ● Jack McMillan completes the ever-impressive feat of appearing in every competitive match of the season, and is the first to do so since James Penrice and Blair Spittal, both of whom managed the feat in 2018-19. ● Jack McMillan registers his 52nd appearance of the season, putting him joint 6th of all-time in that respect. It's the highest tally since Mo Johnston (55) in 1982-83, and 4 off the club-record (56) set by Davie McParland in 1963-64. ● Amazingly, Thistle have now scored in TEN consecutive first halves. It's the longest such run since March 1938, when an impressive 14-in-a-row was registered. ● In the first half, Thistle go 16 competitive goals without reply, the longest such streak since 16 successive goals were scored in April 2021 (the club's all-time League record). ● Partick Thistle finalise the Scottish record for most goals in a single play-offs campaign, an incredible 19 in 6 games. ● Partick Thistle become the first club in Scottish football to blow a 3 goal lead in any play-offs final. Thistle are the 4th club to suffer such a fate in the play-offs in all, following on from Alloa (2008 & 2023), Forfar (2013) and Montrose (2022). ● Thistle have went to penalties versus Ross County on 3 occasions and have lost each and every time. ● Victoria Park used to be a happy hunting ground, but, for the first time in history, Thistle go 5 competitive games without an away win to Ross County, a run which stretches from 2017 to date. ● With 101 goals in all competitions, the class of 22-23 finish as the outright 5th highest scoring Thistle team of all-time. It's the highest tally since the club-record (121) was set in 1953-54. ongoing sequences: ● 8 competitive home games without defeat; 4th Mar 2023 to date. (Longest run since: 8 games; 3rd Mar 2020 to 5th Dec 2020. Club-record: 24 games; 5th May 2001 to 17th Aug 2002.) ● 52 consecutive competitive appearances for Jack McMillan, 9th Jul 2022 to date, a new personal best. (Longest run since: Blair Spittal - 57 games, 31st Mar 2018 to 4th May 2019. Club-record: Johnny Jackson - 313 games, 28th Aug 1926 to 25th Mar 1933.)
  19. Bound to be many over the years as others have pointed out, but no way of running an easy data query.
  20. Ah, thought it might be something along those lines. 15% would be kinda spot on. Not nearly as impressive a boast as it first seemed, but still a great turnout.
  21. More records than the KGB! Most of the post-County updates are now in place on the Archive → Does anyone know why the two home stands were described pre-match as a "sell out" and "at capacity" when (only!) 6,800 home fans were declared in the end? Isn't that's 1,200 short of capacity? CENTURIONS ● This game officially re-sets the bar as the longest competitive season in PTFC history (327 days and counting) taking over from 1995-96 (326 days). ● Thistle play on the 1st June for the first-time ever. Only 10 calendar dates remain unplayed. ● Thistle field the same starting eleven in a fourth consecutive game, the longest such run since 5-in-a-row in late 2020. ● For the very first time, VAR is used in a match at Firhill. David Munro has been the referee on both occasions when VAR has been used in a Thistle game having also been the man-in-the-middle for the Scottish cup tie at Ibrox in February 2023. ● Amazingly, Thistle have now scored in NINE consecutive first halves; you need to rewind to March 1938 to find a longer run (14). ● 16-year-old Dylan Smith receives the earliest red-card against Thistle (17 mins) since Stewart McKimmie of Aberdeen who was sent off in the 9th minute of Thistle's 1-0 League win at Firhill in December, 1995. ● Brian Graham sets a new Scottish record for most goals (5) in a play-off campaign. He takes over from Simon Murray (Dundee United) who notched 4 goals in 2016-17. ● Kris Doolan's Jags have now scored two or more goals in eight consecutive competitive matches. You need to rewind to September 1956 to find a longer run (11, by Davie Meiklejohn's boys). ● It's now an amazing 15 competitive goals without reply for this Thistle team, the longest such streak since 16 successive goals were scored in April 2021 (an all-time League record). ● On the night that we pay tribute to Hugh Strachan with a minutes applause, the class of 22-23 match the astonishing tally that Hugh's class of 70-71 achieved - 100 competitive goals in single season. Wow - it was written in the stars! The centurions of 2022-23 are now (jointly) the 5th highest scoring Thistle team of all-time. ● Congratulations to the PTFC class of 2022-23 who have now registered 27 competitive wins in the season. It's the 3rd highest tally of all-time, behind 2012-13 (31) and 1975-76 (30). ● For the first time in history, Partick Thistle have won a competitive match in 12 different months within the same season! ● Partick Thistle extend the Scottish record for most goals in a single play-offs campaign, now standing at an incredible 18. ● Partick Thistle become the first Scottish club to win 5 games in a single play-offs campaign. ● Partick Thistle become the first Scottish club to register 4 clean-sheets in a single play-offs campaign and David Mitchell duly sets the new record for a 'keeper. ● Thistle win to nil for the fourth consecutive competitive game. Kris Doolan's Jags are now one such victory away from equalling the all-time club-record of 5-in-a-row which was set by Alan Archibald's side in March 2013 and equalled by Ian McCalll's Thistle team in April 2021. ongoing sequences: ● 5 consective competitive wins; 9th May 2023 to date. (Longest run since: 5 games; 10th Apr 2021 to 24th Apr 2021. Club-record: 10 wins, 22nd Oct 1932 to 26th Dec 1932.) ● 8 competitive home games without defeat; 4th Mar 2023 to date. 22. Great stuff, that's very helpful, all applied. Pushing our luck perhaps, but any chance you could confirm the date and place of birth for any of these guys? Jamie Taggart Lewis Mackle Gospel Ocholi (09.04.2003?) Jojo Gillespie Matthew Doherty Oliver Black Joe McDonald Matthew Collins Also, Matthew Doherty and Joe McDonald have left the club, yes? Thank you!
  23. Amazing stats flooding out all over right now and most of the post-Somerset updates are now in place at the Archive → JAGGERNAUT ● 100 years from the first competitive encounter, Thistle meet Ayr United for the 150th time. ● Now 339 days long, 2022-23 becomes the longest season ('All Games') on record. The previous record (338 days) was set in 1889-90. And it's not done yet ; - ) ● Jack McMillan reaches 50 competitive appearances in season 2022-23. He's only the second Jag to do so this century, following on from Grant Murray (51) in the promotion-winning season of 2005-06. ● Thistle have now scored in EIGHT consecutive first halves; you need to rewind to August 1971 to find a longer run (9). ● Bizarrely, 3 of Jack McMillan's 5 goals for the club have been scored in the last 4 games, all in the play-offs. ● It's now 12 direct goal involvements in his last 9 games for the incredible Scott Tiffoney who will now seek to register a counter in a 10th consecutive game in which he's appeared. His second goal of the night was his 25th goal for the club, all scored in competitive action. ● Jack McMillan (12) and Kyle Turner (13) now sit 2nd and 1st with the highest assist tallies of any Jag in the last 10 seasons, and it's a fascinating battle between the two for this season's crown. ● Kris Doolan's Jags have now scored two or more goals in seven consecutive competitive matches. You need to rewind to December 1967 to find a longer run (8, by Willie Thornton's boys).
