I do agree that they’re badly understaffed. Things started going badly wrong back in the late 90’s when they shut all the regional offices and centralised. At one time they were a superb organisation to deal with and had a fantastic, well trained inspectorate. Sorry to tell you that the decline in standards went way back before the Tories came to power. Ask any retired high level Inspectors. However, a lot of the mundane clerical tasks which need personnel to deal with could be alleviated if they could move staff back to their offices. Try speaking to someone about VAT. It’s a nightmare.

There are going to be lots of ups and downs in this Brexit pathway and I was certainly under no illusions when I voted for it. It’s going to take at least 5 years for things to settle down. You’re probably correct here, albeit unusually. I am really sick to the back teeth of my fellow senior citizens who have become risk averse in the extreme. What they don’t realise is that they don’t have much time left and what they do have is there to be lived to the maximum, not hiding oneself away from their fellow humans, muzzled on a leash. Maybe a bit extreme but you get my point.

It’s a very pertinent question. If you train a GP at huge cost and they chose to work for half a week then they do half the work of a full time GP. You therefore need to train up a lot more. I also made the statement that the situation is probably the same throughout the UK but as we live and receive services in Scotland what happens elsewhere is irrelevant. I don’t see what the problem is?

That’s pleasing but for the statistics to be accurate a part time GP should only be classed as half a GP. Cant imagine there will be much difference across the UK but there are so many (mainly female) GP’s who work part time that this needs to be reflected in the statistics to make them meaningful.
