  1. The big keeper was quick off his line and came for crosses where off side applied. The problem is corners where he is being blocked and the six yard area looks more like a rugby scrum. We are not alone with this problem and relying on 2 people to work out who fouled first is near impossible. I think the increased use of VAR in major games will increase the number of penalties awarded as well as the number of fouls and will start to change the attitude of our officials. Not sure I will like that. Still think reducing the numbers in the box by sending the little ones who have no chance of getting their head to the ball up the field meaning the opposition need to mark them. That bit of extra room should let our fine big keeper to get to the ball and release it quickly up the field. I remember Aberdeen did this with Strachan and Bobby Clark, a fine keeper, and it caused the opposition to put 2 men on little Gordon, but that's a long time ago.
  2. That was my first game this season and I was a bit apprehensive with Dobbie missing ,Semple back sooner than I expected, new keeper and nearly a new team. Only constant being our magnificent away support and they didn't let me down. I thought first half we played some really nice passing football and the lad Pybus looks promising, I like a midfielder who can add a bit of bite but he tired late on. Hamilton won a lot of high balls and I think when he links up with Dobbs we could have decent partnership. Murray has come on a lot and Oliver showed promise. This keeper could be a great signing he can come off is line smartish as he did in the first half and he will handle cross balls as well. Unfortunately he struggled with corner kicks but today's game must be a nightmare for young keepers. Every man and his dog are in the box and it means man marking has to include our smallish out field players, so its panic time. Just a suggestion but why not leave 3 of our small ones up front that means the opposition need to hold back 4. Would leave a bit of room and let the big keeper have a bit of room to work with. I thought the back line and the keeper show great promise and if we do better shutting down crosses and handling corner kicks, as we will, then I think we could have a decent season. Great final 20 mins with the crowd responding to the efforts of the players and a draw at Morton this soon was a decent result.
  3. It will be near 4 weeks since he got injured against East Fife but if the lad and the club are OK with it then I am sure Callum will put in a shift if needed.
  4. not too bothered what number they use although as an old git its still 4 and 5 for the CBs, 2 and 3 for the FBs 9 for the CF and 11 and 7 for the wingers. Often wonder how that set up would fare in today's game
  5. Needs to get game time and after an impressive 6 months at Queens he is well thought of there. So its back to Dumfries for me although I wish County every success this season. A really fine club and I have enjoyed the hospitality
  6. If almost 70% of your goals conceded are from crosses then I'd say it's relevant on it's own regardless of how it compares to other teams. It was clearly a concern for the past two seasons and hopefully AJ addresses it this season.
  7. This is when clubs decide on loans. With us having a small squad should make us an attractive alternative for fringe players to get games and develop. First try out today then EF before Motherwell no pressure then. Looking forward to the season.
  8. Certainly does seem very harsh and I am surprised a team like Queens would handle a situation like this. I spent the first half of the season following the team as Callum Semple was playing on loan. When he left you were looking at the play offs and I particularly remember Callum's final game at Inverness when the fight back performance got a great win. Most of these players are still there and I trust a new face will enable them to reproduce the effort of that day. If they can you will walk the play offs
  9. One has the other two are just small with the part timers causing havoc, on plastic
  10. Anyone notice that 3 of the bottom 4 teams play on plastic? Just saying
  11. I know what you mean It was a better headline but we need to read the detail. No doubt the suspended games is to ensure the lad has learned his lesson. Looks like a reasonable outcome for all parties. He and Queens were good for one another
  12. If you are going to quote things like this be good to be accurate. He has been given a 2 game ban with 6 games suspended for a year. Looks like the panel wanted to be sure he could play against Queens if needed.
  13. Alloa are certainly a decent team although like a lot of their fans I wonder why the pitch has been shrunk. Hope Queens manage to stay up
  14. Shit I have train tickets booked and a hotel. I picked this match as one of my six I'll still make it though
  15. Had a feeling Queens would win this Well done. Now push on on your centenary year
  16. I am with you all on this. A nice win is on the cards and where better to get it ?
  17. Bit of an experience watching the game on ALBA Not a bad result given the team we played. Thought East Fife were decent opposition. Be interesting who we get in the final but its ours to loose In many ways the ICT replay, important as it is, could be a distraction from two massive games against Partick and then Ayr although great for supporters. Having watched both twice this year I have no doubt we can turn both of them over
  18. Well yeah, I doubt he was ever going to be loaned to a women's league tbf. Men rather than boys although some of the football played in the woman's leagues is very competitive My point, from experience, is the need to play competitive football in front of critical supporters, home and away. You find the higher the level the less games the loan player gets unless they prove to be good enough. Queens prove the point by two CBs getting games but others being bit players who would have benefited getting games at a lower level
  19. Its not so much the level more about getting games in mens football. This will toughen him up
  20. Interesting that Ayr United's big star forward Shankland hasn't managed to score a goal in three games when he was marked by Semple
  21. Great result Alloa much better than I expected but defended the lead and another 3 points in the bag. Atmosphere different, a bit quiet but probably due to the family style of the club. I really enjoyed the visit but my it was cold. Regarding the pies, not at all bad. not full of grease but with a nice taste, better than the Killie pies? Great stadium friendly with plenty of hospitality areas that were being well used by the fans
