  1. Would be hoping that we’d take at least 2500 tbh so that slightly disappointing but can we and see where we rise to. Considering Ayr brought an impressive 1800 up to firhill last week, I would have expected us to be at least 500 above that.
  2. Any Ayr fans on here heard any news on Dipo for Friday yet ? Also, any thistle fans know how many away tickets we’ve sold so far in total ?
  3. I accept this point but I think any thistle fan who thinks that both aren’t a bit of a worry going forward is slightly naive. Nothing against either but both have mistakes in them and I still don’t think Brownlie is anywhere close to the player he was before that full missed season with his knee. I think a good forward line can certainly exploit them. In an ideal world Milne and Mcavoy would be fit and we’d play McMillan mcavoy holt Milne as a back 4 (I really thought mcavoy looked the business in his short stint). Obviously injuries are part of football but I think if those 2 hadn’t got injured and that had been our ever present back 4 under doolan, we would probably have won the league outright. Brownlies mistakes cost us in several games. Certainly not trying to pin it all on Bronwlie but I do fear he may still be the weak link against a premier side. All if, buts and maybes of course but I’m just trying to be realistic and cautious about our centre half pairing with virtually 0 defensive cover on the bench as well.
  4. The whole situation with the lambie was very tin pot and I certainly wasn’t pleased about it considering I had to move from my normal seat. I suspected all week something was off about it. However, as long as it’s sorted for next time and we don’t f**k up next Friday down at Ayr I can certainly forgot about it. As for the game we were great and I would have taken a 3 goal lead all day long pre match. If anything im slightly disappointed we didn’t win by a few more and truly bury it for good. If dipo is back I think Ayr can score a few next week but I don’t see a scenario where we don’t score more ourselves. Ayrs full backs and that big lanky streak of piss Mcginty (ex thistle favourite apparently) are murder. Factor that in with the form and ability of our attacking players, playing against a team who need to come out and go for it. I see that leading to us picking Ayr off and fancy we will either win again or a 2-2 draw type game. McMillan is an unbelievable right back for us and the link up between him and wee magic Stevie Is simply unstoppable at times. If we don’t f**k up next week I think we have a right good chance of beating the premier team due to our attacking ability. My only worry still remains with aero and brownlie being the ones who likely prevent us. We are the first 4th place team to ever get this far, so why not go all the way eh? Lastly, Doolan is the fucking messiah and I Love him to bits.
  5. I take your point but it’s what makes football exciting. QP finished 4th last season 20 odd points behind Airdrie, they beat 9th in the championship. Look what happened and where they are now. Worthwhile in my opinion. By finishing 4th you’ve earned that small chance to shock everyone. 11th in the prem have likely been woeful all season and on most occasions were lucky not to be bottom. Just my opinion but I can understand somewhat why it’s the way it is.
  6. 100% agree, been saying this for years! It’s the same in every other division in Scotland don’t see why it should be any different personally. No chance of it happening though.
  7. Wow what a team that was eh. Squiddy unplayable. 4 players on 14+ goals is also incredible. May never see that again in our life times .
  8. Wow so 9 assists and 2 goals for McMillan and 5/5 for Milne with a minimum of 9 games still to play. Mightily impressive stats for thistle full backs. Thank you for you work as always, never ceases to amaze me! From what I could see the closest any defender got: 13/14 Taylor-Sinclair 2G:8A 14/15 SOD 5G:6A 16/17 liam Lindsay 7G:1A 19/20 James Penrice 2G:4A So ATS and SOD certainly managed those numbers at some point each even if we don’t know the title winning squads assist stats. With the games left I would fancy both harry and jack to reach the 12 mark for both G/A combined. Making them likely to be our most successful attacking defenders in the last 10 years at least. I think having full backs that can put up numbers like this are pivotal to success in modern football.
  9. I certainly think it should be possible. Possibly weather dependent as well. We have took similar/more numbers up to stenny to play QP on both occasions this season which isint a great distance further from Glasgow in the opposite direction.
  10. I would personally be disappointed with anything under 800 certainly with what’s at stake. Fair enough, understandably just as big a game.
  11. I could see a score draw with around 7-9 yellow cards. That’s is my swift prediction. Our only advantage being that you lot have a mid week game, which will hopefully create some tired legs. Unlikely that this would show much in an Imrie side who are always going to give it their all regardless though. Should be an interesting feisty game and I would expect a good crowd. Especially if it’s dry (unlikely in Greenock) I think we’ll take around 800-1000 hopefully for a Big Crunch match. Whoever can nick a win might just be the titles dark horses .
  12. Noticed looking at the bbc stats for this year McMillan has had 6 assists and 1 goal. Milne has had 4 assists and 5 goals (league). Pretty impressive returns from fullbacks. Must be the best since SOD and Taylor-Sinclair last time we promoted. If not better with 10 games to play as well. @The Thistle Archive I wondered if you might know if this has ever been bettered by our 2 full backs in recent memory. McCall was rightly relieved but looking at these two, both have been really brilliant signings and I wouldn’t swap either for any other full back in the league. Graham also has 11 goals/6 assists in 22 games. Considering he has came off the bench in a few of those and doesn’t often play 90 minutes at the age of 35, a goal every other game with 17 contributions in is very impressive.
  13. I think QP will scramble over the line in this crazy league personally. Keeping McCall as long as we did has left us just that bit to far out of it for me. However, the situation with Doolan does have a bit of that fairytale feeling around it that you only get in football. The only way we are in the out and out title race, for me is if we were to beat Morton next weekend and then Dundee at home the week after as well. Then I might reconsider that we really may just be the form team and are in with a serious shout with more momentum than everyone else. I think Dundee are probably the only other team who can stop QP. Don’t think ayr are in it realistically but Morton might be the real dark horses if they win on Tuesday and beat us at cappielow on Saturday. A lot of if, buts and maybes but I just feel that the next 2 weeks will really define the the run in for ourselves, Morton and Ayr. QP and Dundee have ever so slightly more margin for error. 1. QP 2.Thistle 3.Dundee 4.Morton 5.Ayr My bold prediction for now ( possibly a bit biased).
  14. This will have to go down as an all-timer boring thread. Brown, Brown, Brown and more Brown. Thank god this young Busquets didn’t play as he must be something truly special. As for the game I think that’s one of the most comfortable wins I’ve seen for a long time. Raith were utterly toothless and at pretty much no point was I ever remotely worried. When tiff plays like that it does make you wonder how this season might hand went without the injuries because he can really be unplayable. I thought we were brilliant to a man and everyone had a great game right from graham back to Mitchell. I still think the title is a stretch but it’s certainly going to be an entertaining run in. If we could beat Morton next week and Dundee at home then I might start to believe the Doolan fairytale is on.
  15. I couldn’t see it really but I would classify that as a Brian Graham masterclass. 2 goals and an attempted murder. Better than a hatrick imo. In all my years I don’t think I have ever seen a footballer who at any age, let alone mid 30s, enjoys scoring more than Brian graham. Celebrates every goal like it’s his first. Love the big man to pieces and can easily see why every other team cannot stand him. Mostly because I also couldn’t stand him when he used to play against thistle. He is a dying breed and I’m enjoying him while we still can.
  16. Yeh fair mate, just the negative in me as a fan I don’t see it for us personally as we are in honey moon period for now but it’s certainly not impossible for any of the top 5 to take it from here. As you said anyone who wants it right now could realistically go and take it with 5/6 game winning run. It seems nobody wants to be that team this year though . Agreed, whoever comes down will have far bigger finances than the rest of this league regardless of who that might be next year and we’ll all be kicking ourselves.
  17. I think on paper we should have enough in attack to be title contenders but keeping McCall as long as we did, is what has in my opinion still leaves us just that little bit to far out of achieving 1st place. I agree with a similar sentiment as a lot of Dundee fans on here that it’s actually frustrating to be 7 points off the top in such a shite league with the squad we have. There won’t for a long time be a worse championship standard and I can’t help but think thistle too have blown a great opportunity to have pulled away this season after such a great start. Had MCCall been binned during that 6 game losing streak I think we might have had a better chance. Doolan at least got us going in the right direction again but I think unfortunately Queen’s Park aren’t going to let go and both us and you lot will have to battle it out for 2nd.
  18. Well we have completely dominated the play this first 20 minutes but I still can’t help but feel like Dundee still look more dangerous when they come forward. We have had plenty of possession without creating anything really
  19. Incredible that this is your take from this thread . Some great work coming on after a loss and mainly blaming the ref for it , really got the jags fans riled. 8 dislikes on my last message says it all. Beautiful stuff.
  20. The big one comes around again then eh lads. The two biggest teams in this daft little league. I would take a point in all honesty but if I was to get a prediction in early I can see another narrow defeat. Firhill seems to have become a bit of a fortress again after that horrible game against your lot last time out. However, we are pish on the road and I struggle to really see past that changing. My reasoning as to why Dundee and much to my surprise, QP certainly look more likely to finish above us come the end of the season.
  21. I’m not sure why any daft Morton fan on here would ever insinuate that it’s thistle who have tried to create this “rivalry”. Your weird lot can’t stand us for whatever reason and I seem to recall a whole Morton thread on why they hate thistle, where one individual wrote a full scale seething dissertation on why he dislikes us so much. Don’t get me wrong, but I think I can speak for plenty of thistle fans when I say here that I absolutely despise your manky little club. But I certainly don’t see you as some kind of rival, I merely enjoy beating you because you are bitter as they come and it’s hilarious. Let’s also be honest here as well you are utterly irrelevant to st mirren and have been for a long time. I have several friends who are saints fans and not one of them cares even the slightest jot about Morton. Trying to compare the like to us and the ugly sisters is utterly ridiculous.
  22. Do you genuinely believe otherwise? seriously??? In your head you believe that’s not true Bar perhaps Arbroath I haven’t seen any team in this league play such ugly football as your lot have across the 3 games. Totally reliant on long throws and set pieces. If you truly in your head believe otherwise than I think you should seek help pal. Look it’s clearly been working for you judging by your league position. Football can be won in whatever way works. But if you are trying to deny this fact then I really don’t know what to tell you.
