  1. So it looks like the difference between winners and RU in the cup will only be 20K.   If we pull it off and actually beat Hearts, chances are we’re onto a very good pay day in the next round.  I’m really hoping all these extra funds are being used to secure Rhys’s and Dyceys services for the next season or two.  Them being at the club is by far priority #1. I’m sure we can see an influx of great loan signings based on our management and surely there will be extra funds for some signings post season.  I’m so impressed with the progress we’ve made in the last two years, on and off the park.  Feel like losing Rhys and co could be a big setback for the club.  Something we have to address sooner rather than later

  2. Thinking Naismith will be taking training seriously this week and reminding his players that this SC tie is a potential banana skin for them.   Absolutely buzzing for this one and honestly don’t think our boys will have any fear at all going in to the game.  Another loan signing might be a good thing but honestly, we are pretty much injury free, will field a strong side and the boys will have a go.  Another premiership scalp hopefully

  3. I was figuring if we played TNS then the final would likely be in Falkirk.  If it’s Falkirk then most likely in Perth or Livingston? Not sure.

brilliant result tonight and I thought we played well but really, RR were pretty clueless.  One thing for sure, I’ll be VERY nervous if we don’t go into the post season with Rhys on a new contract.  It’s pretty much a certainty that a bigger club will come knocking and without putting a curse on us, I’m almost sure we’ll find ourselves in a safe league position.  Still lots to learn for this young manager but undoubtedly someone will get him in on a longer contract hoping he’s the next Fergie

If anybody wants a laugh get yourself over to the Jambos kickback forum and see the Airdrie thread. Lots of Clydebank, John Martins a scab, Airdrie fans are racist/nazis chat. It’s like a mental institution for angry hate filled Hearts supporters. Good to still all those defeats still hurt them 😂

    https://www.hmfckickback.co.uk/index.php?/topic/203117-scottish-cup-fifth-round-draw-airdrie-v-hearts/page/5/

Holy crap!   I honestly thought most Jambos were decent - maybe it’s just that thread but the talk on there was well out of order! I personally know a few Hearts fans who are pleased with the draw, plan on attending and are confident but realize this is a potential banana skin.  Think that other lot are expecting a bunch of mutants and a 10-0 result.   Hope it isn’t on the telly, bring them all through to see their team get horsed out of the cup

  5. This is definitely a good draw for us.  Gives us a real test against one of the better teams in the Premiership.  Having said that, looking back on their recent results they have won games very narrowly or lost them narrowly.  Their Celtic win aside, most have been 1-0, 2-1 etc and there hasn’t been much between their meetings with Rangers… or Spartans.   This team could easily fall to a motivated Airdrie side but we’d have to be at our very, very best.   I’ll be watching their results over the coming weeks to see where they are before their visit to Airdrie.

expecting a crowd of about 7000 which will provide a nice enough payday.  Gives the boys a real Premiership feel at Broomfield which I’m sure will give them extra motivation.  I’m sure Rhys will want to show everyone what his Diamonds can do.  Dare I say it, an Airdrie win would firmly put Rhys in the shop window?

Obviously extra money coming in, is there room to get an extra signing or two before end of the window?

great time to be a Diamond, Mon the Airdrie ♦️

What a delight the last twelve months have been and I'd agree about the impact of Mason Hancock while Charlie Telfer has been a driving force.

As to being the best ever seen I think we're entitled to get carried away but I've seen better in my lengthy years of supporting the ♦️

It’s easy to come up with more successful teams etc but in all honesty, with the budget and resources we have this may be (pound for pound) one of the best Airdrie teams.  The BoD have done a great job and Rhys/Dycey have been fantastic. Honestly believe that them still playing gives the team that extra edge.  Dycey and Hancock playing great together, brilliant communication from them.  Rhys keeping the team focused and organizing things well with Friz, brilliant.  It’s mid January and we’re still in 2 cup competitions and a shout at the playoffs.  Thats where a good team should be!  Our boys will be well tired when everything’s finalized in May!!

Absolutely agree,  this is the best I can remember the 90s were great but a different type of football,  we are playing it the way it should be played,  frustrating for us old hats at times though..  Young new fans treasure these moments with your old dads etc....

We will all look forward to the highlights tonight,  just keep the head when we get little praise and the big bad plastic pitch is made the reason for super saints defeat..

the 90s teams were something a bit different and Scottish football had a different style back then but our squad/success/atmosphere was brilliant from 91/96.  Having said that, this current team are playing some of the most attractive football I’ve seen in the Diamond and I love their never say die attitude.  We’ve taken quite a few scalps over the last couple of seasons, just like the 90s teams.  I’m quite happy to say that NONE of the teams in tomorrows hat will want to play us.   We’ll be the underdog that nobody wants to lose to

  8. Perfect way to get over our Megwa hangover! Agree, a home tie against anyone (except the OF) is the order of the day.  Truly don’t fear any team but if we’re going to make an exit from the competition at the hands of one of the ugly sisters then it might as well be with an extra large pay day. Great performance from all but big shout to Hancock who I thought was absolutely outstanding.  Get that boy locked in to a contract, he gives 100% every game and reads the game brilliantly.  Saved us a couple of times today when SJ came close.

Quite happy for Raith to strengthen as much as they can. We've only to play them once more in the league but everyone else (apart from Dunfermline) has to play them twice, so if they could strengthen and go on a run beating everyone else around us that would be grand. Points tallies from 4th down to 10th will be pretty close so every little helps!

I know we have them in the cup but I still see that as a bonus, plus we seem to have their number this season anyway so we'll still have a good shot at going through.

Agreed, good luck to Raith - hope they take good points from everyone although I still fancy a point against them at Starks.   Bold statement with KT signing - can see them splashing out a little to make a good run at this.  You don’t find yourself in this position too often and they have a real chance as DU showing their not invincible.

for us I’m a little sad about Megwa and we’ll be in suspenders until next Tuesday when he returns home.  If Hibs want him out on loan he’ll be back pretty quickly, otherwise he’ll be a bench warmer which will be really annoying.  Feeling a little like McInroy from a couple of years ago when he left us for A*r Utd.  Same level of performances from a solid player.   Like others, can’t see too much in the way of signings for us in January but reinforcements in defence is a must.  Ballantyne out for several weeks is bad news, wondering if Hearts/Killie or the like have options for a loan(s)

  10. Tough call on this one, on paper we should be confident but feel Dunfermline always have a bit of an edge at home and they may be motivated by thought of losing grip on the top half if they lose.  Earlier poster said it best, wait until the end of the week to see what’s happening with the Pars squad.   I’d take a solid point, all 3 and I’ll be buzzing no matter how many reserves they have to field to get a starting 11.  I’m just hoping I don’t get ma heid kicked in after the game 😋

Great, great win today. Really good to break that away duck!

Good to also see we can grind things out.

Also a massive GIRFUY to the couple of ITK merchants on this thread (you know exactly who you are) who lambasted in the strongest terms those who complained/moaned about the lack of squad depth and consistently battered on about "quality signings" that now officially won't happen. Thank f**k last year's squad have risen to the challenge as you sanctimonious p***ks were very, very wrong.

Wow! Easy boy!!  I am very happy to see the team being so successful in the opening few games.  We’re mid-table and have opened a decent gap on the bottom 2 for being this early in the campaign.  BUT, it is early.  Long, long way to go and I realize there will be an opportunity to strengthen in January but I can understand some of the initial calls for bringing in experienced signings.  I think it’s fair to say that Rhys is

    1. getting the best out of our younger players. There’s a lot of maturity for such a young team

    2. Last years squad have done a great job in making the step up to Championship level which a lot of us weren’t sure about. Janny case in point.  Was ok with him moving on, ok with him staying.  He’s definitely stepped up his game

Every Championship team will have learned from their first encounter with us and yes, some will want a little ‘revenge’.  Undoubtedly the second meetings will be a lot harder and that’s when the experience may come in.  When you mention ‘quality’ signings, I for one had advocated for more experience to help us through the tougher fixtures.  Fair enough, I am happy to eat my words and this team continue to defy the odds but I’m sure some tough days are ahead.  I think some were too quick to call out the signing policies but understand the fans who wanted a different type of player to bolster the squad. I’ll just continue to support Rhys and the squad and have faith in what the management think is best.  Not a happy clapper but while we have this record there’s not too much to criticize.  So far, so good.  Long May it continue

  12. Thinking about this one over the last couple of days, I’m finding it hard to really predict a score line/winner.   We’ve got no injury headaches while Morton struggle, particularly in defense.   It’s not been one of my favourite grounds to go to results wise but I’ve got a feeling we can leave with something.   A bolder man might go for a win and 3 points but I’m thinking this will be our first draw of the campaign and going home with a point.   Maybe this keeps both sets of fans happy?   Morton keep in touch and don’t fall too far behind while gaining a point when they are suffering with their squad.  We end our away hoo-doo and pick up a valuable point.

we’re playing Morton at just the right time maybe…. And Rhys may want to push hard and go for all 3.   As long as we don’t leave empty handed I’ll be satisfied.

the Diamond tinted specs say a 2-1 away win.  My head tells me 1-1

We've been ravaged by injuries and it seems we get 2 back another 2 get injured.

Who knows what team we'll put out on Saturday?

Think we’ll actually have a fully fit squad for this one and a little bit of a selection headache for McCabe which will be a welcome problem.   Plenty of players on the bench if things need changed up.   Our clean sheet at the weekend was a bonus but fancy this one to have a few goals in it.   An 8 point gap would be most welcome and definitely gives us a psychological edge.  Just hoping the linesman stays fully fit 😉

Not to start a rumour or anything but I’m about 80% sure I seen him in the stand at our game on Saturday with an older gent (possibly an agent?). I wasn’t fully sure it was him at the time though, but thought I recognised him. Even spotted him again in Raith’s match day video. For all I know though, he could just be a random boy going to watch the game with his grandpa 😂 but Albion Rovers weren’t playing on Saturday, so maybe was him!

That looks like him for sure.  Who knows, and being young with lots of potential it sounds like it would suit McCabe perfectly
