  1. Dunfermline was challenge cup no? Yes it was the cup. See if anyone wants a reminder of results in any given season, just go to this page: https://bettermeddle.org.uk/archive/byseason/results.php?year2=2018 This is the link for 2017/18 but just go to the archive for any season.
  2. Yeah I totally agree with the “having credit in the bank” comment, I think that counts for a lot with football fans generally. Like Jefferies and McCall though, things ended on a very sour note though. Wouldn’t it be nice, for once, a managerial tenure with us didn’t end in either results falling off a cliff or acrimony.
  3. Pretty much the exact same point I made. It was strange Hughes went against the formula that was working well for him. Holts claim about “they’re young boys at the coal face” doesn’t carry much water when you consider we had young boys making a good fist of it in the SPL, with a mix experience too.
  4. It started earlier than appointing May. Results went downhill from Gretna 2-0 (the worst top flight team ever) in Jan 08’ then signing Dad’s Army to move to “the next level” that summer.
  5. Hard work is very important but it’s not the be all and end all. What I mean is, maybe having one player who hasn’t busted his gut, maybe a bit on the lazier side, has just that wee bit of extra energy to go on a mazy and get the winner late on. We don’t really have that in our current team but, well, wasn’t wee Richie Cadette almost fondly thought of as being a lazy git!
  6. All the stuff about “smiles on faces”, “how do you get that?” and “well, it’s putting a shift in” are all a bit annoying but, on reflection, maybe it needs saying.
  7. I know M and Ms time ended badly and they were out of their depth but they did get things going again after McKinnon left. McKinnon must’ve had something half decent in place for them two to get a string of results together because I think all they did was bring a much needed freshness in but nothing of substance. It was correct to get rid of McKinnon at that time but I do actually think he/was is an okay manager who could’ve done a decent job for us.
  8. What about some of the posters on here? Smikka Smikka Smoodoozo anyone ?
  9. I think he might be the Dumber in the double act based on his Facebook. Him and Cracks. had 2 go B 4 it wiz 2 late!!... Get them in for a bounce factor after McKinnon but what were the BOD thinking?!
  10. Somebody mentioned earlier that he imagined this is what it feels like to be a crack addict, hating the club just now but still checking for updates. I know where he’s coming from. I got absolutely ruined and spoiled from the start supporting us and it leaves it’s mark. I was 8 years old and my 3rd and 4th games going along were 7-1 v Raith Rovers and 5-1 v Clydebank, followed by a fantastic championship victory, followed by a mainly exciting few years after that. The first two games before that were the ropey first part of Jefferies reign but really, virtually zero shite to deal with, just joy. The chemicals in my brain are predisposed in a certain way because of what I watched right from the get-go. No hoofball. No over-thought shapes. None of that. It’s not like I really appreciated it at the time because it’s happening at young age. I just can’t see a generation of young fans from the local area putting up with the utter rubbish that is served up.
  11. That should be playing retirement too for “Big Sexy”.
  12. No I get that part, it’s more to do with illiterate comments that appear in here.
  13. Can’t be him, he’s too busy practicing his slam dunks.
  14. Great news, however, just one wee question. Now the goalkeeping coach is gone, who is going to coach the goalkeepers in the interim??
  15. You’ve got us, well done. We’re shite and deserve to be where we are. This is a microcosm of nearly 150 years of history though. History is part and parcel of being a footie fan, so based on that, despite all your wonderful snipes at us, does it not irk you, even a bit, that your clubs history and general standing in the game is inferior to ours?
  16. 14-15 was poor at the start but things improved halfway through, with a dip at the end (which actually helped our cup final preparation because it meant we didn’t qualify for a 4th place play off which would’ve probably been a waste of time in terms of actually trying to get promoted with all the big hitters in there).
  17. I was referring to the 2015 cup final and a couple of play off near misses.
  18. Okay, that’s fine but many said that before Hartley and McKinnon. Just get the right man in!
  19. I would be inclined to split “the decade” line now. 2008-2014 culminated in a Scottish Cup final and a relatively exciting period of two years. Even off the pitch, was anything as bad as has been over the the last nearly 4 years? I know MR and SA are still lingering it appears but things have gone off a cliff since, well, Falkirk 0-3 Queen of the South under Houston.
  20. The equaliser at Easter Road in the 2-2 was amazing too which he scored (or did he get the first one back?). I think we can handle blip spells in form, I think we can also handle blip seasons if it looks like things look like improving (after Lambie/Bannon we had Totten who got us to a decent standard, after Tottens season we had McCall and so on). This isn’t a blip, it’s pure rot. And as someone said earlier it will probably be another overhaul in the summer with jobbers coming in. The good thing about following us was that we had mixed fortunes but at least we were usually better than the Airdries, Raiths, Ayrs, QOTSs and Morton’s and seemed to have more about us as a club generally. The only thing below us now is part-timers (with some part-timers performing better than us). It’s desperate .
  21. Clue: 4 across, postman drops bag..... “How many letters?” “Hundreds” Continue with the, ahem, entertainment
  22. Okay, it’s a wee snigger-fest for ya. Off you pop now, I’m sure there’s plenty more alienation to experience elsewhere.
  23. Food shops, garden centres, always baffles me that peoples alternatives are so limited. Take up a hobby! Might even go somewhere.
