  1. Just seen this news on the Dunbar website , Tranent have sold Dean Whitson to Dunbar - who have the Belters brought in to replace him? Thats Ciaran and Dean both out, Callum must have a few ideas, not so long ago Dean was the POTY?
  2. Any news on how the latest round of weekend fixtures move things?
  3. Great game coming up this weekend. Hope it's a result against Sauchie, been really impressed with Ricky Miller at the back - commands his defence well.
  4. I've heard Johnny Harvey has been the favourite for about every job so far this season.
  5. Yes, he was. The Swifts game was their first league match since the WW game. Tough test for United in the coming days, Crossgates, Penicuik and then the mighty Belters.... a really testing period for them.
  6. Agree, very tight league. Don’t think anyone should get carried away. There will be a lot of bumps in the road between now and the end of the season. Anyway back to the important matter or the pies? How dare Dunbar sell out of town pies , clearly copying Haddington who are selling North Berwick’s pies
  7. To be fair it looks a very tough league so far. The difference between those chasing the clear runaway sides and those chasing relegation slots seems minimal. id expect Mussy to pull away over the second third. Not sure who else I see competing up there, Broxburn for sure …. Not seeing much else , regardless the prizes for anything beyond first are purely pride.
  8. I wouldn’t agree with that version of events either FM. However , it that the actual version of events or just one side of a story, Geoff is always going to be a DUFC legend. Boards will come and go, but there is rarely a good timing for these things and pre-season was looking like a continuation of a poor season last year. i read their captain saying in he local paper that the new manager had been huge for them in terms of raising morale. Perhaps GJ had done his time there, as you say a good guy who I’m sure will be a huge success either elsewhere or no doubt back at Dunbar for a third or fourth spell once the committee move on. committees good or bad, and imho to be fair to this one, they seen to have done fairly well on balance , seldom last club legends are always…. Legends.
  9. Agreed. On reflection, to the early season feedback from a small subset of their fans, the DUFC board deserve credit on both their work to attain an SFA membership and appoint a new management team. The club appear well organised, attendances at Dunbar recently are up hugely from recent years. Long may it continue.
  10. I must try these famous pies soon. Are they really that good or is it just clever marketing from the new committee?
  11. Yes, credit to the manager for recent performances, albeit consistency of his squad looks a challenge. A very strong bench vs Camelon for the Scottish opposed to only two subs the previous week against Haddington, one of whom had retired in the summer! I think the recent game was the largest attendance since New Countess Park was opened against Rangers? Any idea what the true attendance was including the free U12's as I've heard numbers much higher than the official 545 reported and I assume this must just be 545 paying customers? The league remains the critical focus and hopefully they continue to do enough to ensure a strong finish there and not get dragged into the bottom of what looks an incredibly tight league (top two aside).
  12. Well done to Blackburn, Dunbar and the others! I follow Dunbar online and their website and social media is a class apart, good to hear it's backed with traditional advertising in their town as well. I like their manager and assistant taking to social media with updates and their highlights are also very well done... I watched the Berwick game last night too, great BBC coverage. It's good to see clubs learning from each other and raising the bar - it would be good, for all, if every club had a good support as a percentage travels. I enjoyed the Penicuik vs Tranent game at the weekend, a huge crowd... albeit both are typically well backed.
  13. Some cracking fixtures tonight. Musselburgh vs Penicuik the pick of the day for me, with Tranent vs Lithgae off... will Nitten get a win vs Dundonald? can Whitehill turn over HoB? Tynecastle visit Dunbar, two teams who have a made a similar start but will Tynie get a bounce with Stevie McLeish going? Interesting day... the league, below Penicuik and Tranent remains very tight.
  14. Ross Allum must have had his shooting boots stolen by Jamie Devlin.
  15. I’ve not seen much of them myself this year. The results and attendances look positive. Good to see them in the First Round of the Scottish alongside Preston, Haddington and Tranent too.
  16. Incredible isn’t it. Things look very bright for the East Lothian sides at the moment , big crowds at Musselburgh and Tranent and growing crowds at Dunbar and Haddington.
  17. Good work... this will be a good insight and might help the league/clubs improve attendances.
  18. I couldn’t actually believe what I was seeing. It really was quite an epic turn around / or an epic throw away depending on your persuasion. Great game for a neutral visitor today.
  19. What is the correct manner ? Should he have been asked to resign? Maybe he was… maybe there was a behind the scenes incident… . I’m not sure we know the full story, but either way I think we all agree a change was needed and it’s a shame he was sacked and didn’t just resign… Either way it’s onwards and upwards, and upwards quite literally based on the reports from New Countess Park this season.
  20. What’s going on at Arniston this season? Do they have a lack of personnel ? Very early days and I’m sure they will turn it around but shipping 18 goals is a major concern….
  21. Well, while it’s early days, Dunbar have certainly started very brightly.
