  1. I’d been to Dunbar before but pre-stand and I hadn’t realised the community bar/hospitality area was there. Putting football aside what a great venue this now is. We walked into the hospitality area and had a couple of pints before the game. A decent menu of snacks and food available too. To cap it all off we are asked if we wanted to pre-order drinks for half time! Go on then. We then sat in the stand which is ideal for this level and particularly today as it offered great shelter from the elements. Good banter between the fans. An unexpected Penicuik win to boot. What a great day. Sorry to Dunbar fans but your day will come, hopefully next week. Thanks for a terrific day.
  2. The lad chose having a good time with his pals over putting in the required graft and commitment to help the team get results. A pity but it’s his choice. Given what happened pre season what were your expectations this year? After a couple of humbling results I’ve seen only improvements since then but there’s a long way to go to get closer to what we have become used to in recent years.
  3. Looking forward to a reverse fixture with Rutherglen after our Scottish encounter. Whilst not a home tie it’s good to get games against opponents you dont play very often.
  4. My understanding is that there are a couple of clubs in the league who are benefiting from outside investment. They can attract the better players and all being well will end up at the top end of the league. We’ve been able to compete wage wise in recent years based on sponsorship, attendance money and so on, but not having another source of income will mean we will fall behind these clubs. Couple that with the fact that we’ve had to spend heavily to meet the demands of the Covid years and licensing requirements means we’re now in the middle of the pack in terms of what we can offer and I’d expect our league position to match that. Add in the management turmoil which has set back this seasons plans and we’re only now getting a squad together which ideally should have been done weeks ago. We are where we are. On the plus side I believe Pollok are bringing several hundred fans through this weekend so we look forward to a grand day out and a boost to the coffers!
  5. We meet again!! Right where are the good pubs at your end
  6. At the agm it was explained where we are as a club this year. Wage bill needed to be trimmed and so we’ve signed players that were available and within our budget. This might mean the players we have this year aren’t necessarily at the same league challenging level we’ve been used to in recent years. Couple this with the fact that there are a couple of clubs fortunate enough to be paying super high wages so the players we might have wanted to keep or bring in were made considerably better offers elsewhere. I’d obviously prefer to be higher up the league and conceding less goals, but hopefully we can win enough games to stay out of trouble.
  7. Sounds good guys and I’ll warn the women of Penicuik you’re on the way. Hope to see you all there. We’ve had a very mixed start to the season after a very poor pre-season. It’s a season for rebuilding…all the best.
  8. Hi folks. Penicuik fan here. I hope you’re looking forward the the Cup game in a couple of weeks? Are there likely to be a few of you coming through? If you want any ideas about where to go before the game I’d be happy to help. All the best.
  9. It’s a work in progress….we all knew that this year’s expectations were a lot lower and those first 2 games seemed promising. As you say it’s now WTF! Next game at Luncarty so hopefully we can steady the ship. Then it’s another away game to Broxburn which could be messy if things don’t improve. Ironic to see Taylor Hendry scoring for fun at Dunbar as he couldn’t hit a barn door for us last year. Russell Cairns also scored more against us yesterday than he did at his time here too. Typical.
  10. Or Broxburn. They invested in some good players and have started well too.
  11. Absolutely biblical rain, thunder and lightning here in Penicuik (12.30). Heading for Glenrothes shortly but hope this doesn’t affect games today…
  12. Sorry to see both of them going but I believe both live in fife so probably good moves for them. Waiting with interest for our signings. Think I heard many of our contracts run to 30 June so might not hear much before then..,
  13. All hail the new Messiah! Good to see a new name joining the managerial lists and not just recycling the same names. Time will of course tell but I’m always the optimist and have new sense of optimism, at least until we play Linlithgow tomorrow. Note to other clubs: please let us keep this one for a month or two ( you know who you are!)
