  1. I think you're bang on with this. The McGregor, Gilmour and McGinn 3 is beginning to look an established and effective part of the team. And with Hanley to come back in to the back 3 you've got the option of McTominay moving forward as well as Jack on his way back so some decent options in the middle. I was never convinced by McGregor in the past but credit to Clark he's got him purring in that midfield engine.
  2. Numbers guy, get your heid wound in a bit. This is a football forum, not a fued forum. Take that shit to pm.
  3. Patterson is certainly stepping up and putting in some reasonably decent performances! I think we've all considered right back something of a problem area but he's doing as well as we could wish for I think. Clark certainly made the right shout with his timing of blooding him and now it looks like backing him over SOD. He's nae world class 6et but seems to be growing into the role.
  4. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/59211590 Anyone been involved in this? Sounds like a fantastic effort and those involved can be proud.
  5. With Hanley and McTominay out it's certainly not a bad place to be with Cooper, McKenna or Souttar the options to join Hendry and Tierney in the middle at the back. Come a long way since we were trying to find a partner for a 40 year old David Weir.
  6. Love how part of the justification for McLean up top is so that we can play long ball. Aye, playing one of the worst teams in Europe and we need to resort to route one with a make shift striker who played half a season there 6 years ago. You know or we could try and actually play a bit with actual attacking players like Brown and Adams.
  7. I hope you're right bit yeah it doesn't look good, if he's messing about then he should go the same way as McBurnie.
  8. OK so you're preferred team contains Maxwell Blackpool in goal, a back 3 of Naismith-Elliot-Hyam, Allan Campbell sitting and now McLean up front. Jesus.
  9. I blame you more because you're an adult. The numbers guy probably isn't and his shenanigans should just be ignored.
  10. I'd just put McTominay in midfield with Gilmour and McGregor then play McGinn off Adams up top. Wouldnt do this normally but this is a poor Moldova side and McGinn has generally looked a good finisher for Scotland and I'd back him over most others in the squad to get in the right areas to bang a couple in over 90 minutes. Nisbet is woefully out of form or I'd have played him. Happy enough if he picks Brown though as interested to see what he's about. Dykes returns along with normal service for McGinn against the Danes.
  11. I think there is a vacancy in midfield, we have sitting midfielders who are good on the ball and box to box midfielders but I think we lack a destroyer or someone who can do that role outside of Jack who as mentioned is injured. I don't really know who that player could be though or whether we need an out and out defensive midfielder in the current formation. I don't think there is much call for a dedicated shitkicker in modern football but someone who can dominate the midfield with a combination of cutting out passes, a man marking job and the odd crunching tackle can be useful against certain teams who channel a lot of play through an advanced playmaker etc.
  12. I don't think the general is actually another poster with a new account. Only reasonable explanation is that he's either Kal Naismith himself or Naismith's mum. Hyam is in the same bracket as McIntyre, Lindsay or Wallace for me. All lads at a decent level but they need to be dominating all season long before they ge ahead or the incumbents who have done nothing to really warrant being dropped. I do concur that Elliot may be worth a look at some point though, he's at least an interesting shout though I've very little idea of how good bad the MLS is.
  13. Thing is gen the 6 centre back options in the original squad are Hanley, Hendry, Cooper, Tierney, McTominay and McKenna. NOT Considine or Gallagher who you keep mentioning. And you're advocating Kal Naismith, Dominic Hyam and Elliot Philadelphia in their stead. Come on son. It looks to me like you're getting a raging, kilt lifting erection over anybody in the abroad league pal.
  14. If you mean Maxwell Blackpool he's crocked isn't he?
  15. Or equally that Kal Naismith's time cometh... Doesn't seem much point calling anyone up with Tierney, Cooper, McKenna, McTominay and Hendry 5 into 3 as it is.
  16. Maxwell Blackpool should be on the list though I've never seen him.
  17. Aye, they must know true class down there in that case. He's bald these days isn't he too and I think we need a bald lad.
  18. McIntyre is injured currently. Gallagher isn't even in the squad? I don't really know what you're suggesting, Clarke is picking a settled squad of players he trusts. None of whom have been so dreadful for us to be deserving of being binned off. We can see with the gradual introduction of Patterson over SOD that he will favour evolution of the side rather than revolution and he will identify where the side can be improved. What are you suggesting? Play musical chairs with every squad announcement calling up various players who you've decided are arbitrarily on form sometimes based on league position or their physical attributes.
  19. Jack Elliot may be worth a look at some point though Clarke has actually benefited from the centre back position improving a fair bit in terms of depth compared to previous years. Hanley looks to have shed some of the bombscare tendencies whilst maintaining his monstrous physical gifts. Hendry is maturing into a genuinly decent centre back. Tierney and McTominay are strong options for the system. Cooper is a premier league centre back, that doesn't mean he's any good but we rarely see our central defenders get a gig at this level. McKenna is one of a clutch of players playing at a solid level in the Championship and has been in and around our squads for awhile. He's also in a similar mould to Hanley in terms of his strengths. The likes of Dom Hyam and Tom McIntyre are doing well at that level but need to do more if they're going to displace one of the above as Clarke rightly likes a settled squad. Equally there are centre backs our side of the border like Souttar and Porteous who are looking to prove they deserve inclusion. It's great for us that you no longer get in the squad just because your side is fourth in the championship, because you're 6 foot 6 or just because someone finds out you've a Scots nan. This is progress.
  20. I think the general posts some OK stuff but it needs toned down. I've certainly learned about a lot of potentially eligible players however if Steve Clarke followed his advice and called them all up we'd have a squad of about 50 players. If we ever decide to resurrect the B team then by all means put the general in charge or give him a job scouting.
  21. I say bin the established team and go with that XI which included Elliot Philadelphia but sprinkle in a few of the Coventry boys and maybe keep Gary McKenna, whoever that is. If nobody here has heard of most of them then Denmark certainly won't be prepared to face a team of unknowns. In all seriousness Hyam or Elliot might be worth a look at some point but we've got options at centre back and there is no point in just calling up every player who we find out might be eligible. Maxwell Blackpool could be worth a look very soon I suppose given the paucity of options in goals but we're fine for now with Gordon.
  22. Perhaps a surprise call up for Maxwell Blackpool.
