I thought our players did themselves proud tonight. And 4-1 flattered Rangers, who deserved to win. But maybe not by that margin. I thought we were at risk of a doing, but that never looked on the cards.

Bad news is that Matty Shiels is now away to Cove. I cannot begrudge him a move back full-time at all; I think he's a class player and a guy I've really enjoyed getting to know. But it's a bit of a sore one for us.

First I've heard but we are DESPERATE for a left back who's vaguely competent. I liked Matty at Accies in the Championship and he'll strengthen our back line.

Given his contract isn't up until the summer will a fee be involved?

Your thoughts on his strengths and weaknesses?

Glad he got a goal on his last game.

  2. Mikey Doyle extends his deal until Summer 2025. He's made a positive difference since joining and looks superior to any of the defenders we've brought in recently. Worth his extension.

    Interesting part of the above article for me was;

"I’m excited by the manager’s plans, the signings he’s hoping to make."

I'm intrigued, whether I'll be excited remains to be seen. There's a hoping in there so who knows what will happen on that front.

I see Scott Williamson is getting recalled from his loan at Cove according to the daily record. Would be fine to have him sitting on the bench for some energy for the last 10 mins of games once Paton is gubbed but I assume we’ll see some attacking reinforcements this month anyway

I think in terms of his own career, he really needs another loan move, probably down to league 2 to the likes of a Clyde maybe ?

Saw this confirmed in the P&J. They stated he's already featured for the Spiders this season so isn't eligible for another SPFL loan until next season.

I agree definitely needs time elsewhere before he's ready for adorning the black and white stripes

  4. Scott Williamson recalled by Queen's Park. Our 4th departure this window.

He looked sharp against Montrose in what was maybe his debut for us but 1 goal in 19 and limited minutes wasn't the return we & he would have hoped for. Got pace to get in behind but composure and finishing needs development.

Don't think Tiwi dropping down the leagues to get game time and confidence would do any harm , maybe a loan would suits us better though as there is definitely something there

Kelty apparently linked with a loan deal for Brody Paterson as a replacement for Walker , at you guys last year, any good ??

Agreed, loan deal would work much better for Kelty.

We seen very little of Brody as he got injured 2nd game for us after signing last January. He would be brilliant for L1 in my opinion, way better than any left back we have currently. Must admit i thought his next move would be to us.

He did well for the Diamonds at this level when only 19/20. Feel he could develop and play a league higher at some stage in his career so would undoubtedly be a strong bit of business. He's from Kirkcaldy i believe so would add to the rumour of a link to Kelty.

    East Kilbride in for Tiwi....

Seen that. Hasn't he got 2 years left on his contract? EK would need to stump up a wad of cash.

I'd keep him if I were Kelty. Good prospect who could/should still burst into life and be more influential.

On EK, I see Liam Brown has been transfer listed. He's one that could find his way to L1.

I'm amazed you even got the corners market.

This is all that's on offer today

Since the Edinburgh City woes started Bet365 have resorted to very limited Bet Builder choices for all their games.

Only one winner for me and it isn’t Cove. Whilst we beat Hamilton comfortably in the end at least they were competitive.

I agree. We're lacking creativity and quality in the middle of the park to build and sustain attacks. Defence doesn't fill me with confidence either.

Both Falkirk and Accies have recruited players that every other L1  side would have been thrilled about signing by large in my opinion. League positions and points tally hold true so today will be a test.

Accies 1/2 on which is probably about right even for 2nd v 3rd in the table.

  9. Today will be a tough game for us regardless but with a potentially depleted squad and after conceding 4 midweek to a rampant Falkirk side we'll need a big performance.

No clean sheets in our last 7 league games, something that needs to change if we are to get back on an unbeaten streak.

Accies clearly have a more established squad than us, thanks to some decent recruitment, which is continuing in this window seemingly. Better on the ball, more goal scorers/match winners throughout the team and a better defensive unit.

Accies will be rightfully favourites, think they will do enough to take all 3 points, but hopefully we can stay in the game and take something from it.

3 legs down in this Bet Builder, 3 to go. Still in the running with a chance to sneak a healthy win.

1st half corners and Dundee United 2nd half goal achieved but sadly an awful game with the chances that were created not converted.

Only 1 second half corner, in injury time too, and the Bet Builder dies it's death.

Makes sense for him to go out on loan, very little game time so surely suits everyone really.  Obviously been getting the "Hartley bench filler" role until now so be interesting to see how he does with a step down.

I saw him at Formartine last season whilst we were in the Championship. Going hybrid/FT I never thought we'd be signing him in all honesty. HL to a starting lineup for a L1 promotion playoff side, we might or might not make that, sounded too big a jump at the time and likely that's about right.

Wasn't give much opportunity but are guys ahead of him even after poor recruitment. Maybe one that develops under his contract.

It was like low risk in regards to wages and there could be a chance he kicks on. Will never be making money off of him. Interested to track his progress and career trajectory

I always thought Cove had a big money backer that was why they went completely full time .

Does your squad have many part time players .

I really wish Queens would try a mix of full and part time players right now we are going nowhere being completely full time .

Most part time players make more with a job than any of our full time players.

6 part time players, I thought it was 5 but Fyvie is actually still part time, has left AFC as a coach and taken a job as a safety advisor for a local company.

We haven't signed anyone on a PT contract since announcing hybrid. The plan was completely FT for next season but we'll at least retain the PT guys we have at present until their contracts end imo

Is that the lad that came on as a sub on Tuesday? I thought he was decent.

Yeah he came on after 50 minutes for Jacob Jones. He's got something but is new to senior football, needs game time for development and generally Hartley, at Cove anyway, doesn't play "young" players unless they are exceptional.

We gave him a 2 year deal but doubt he'll break through with us.

4/1 on the coupon for Elgin , having some of that

4/1. That's fantastic odds even if Elgin do get giddy at the thought of leaving Moray this season.

Dayshonne Golding will cause problems, press high and I expect him to chip in with goals starting relatively soon.

Should be an interesting game with both sides adding to the ranks this week.

Tyler Mykyta joins Forfar on loan until the end of the season. 3rd one outbound this window and strong rumours that Mark Gallagher will be behind him but Elgin bound.

Hope Accies have short benches in the dug out

Tyler has some end product, a wicked left foot and can deliver but was completely starved of game. He needed a loan spell in L2, actually probably needs extended period at that level to prove himself before making the next step.

His downside is his height. Stronger than he looks but L2 can be physical and like many wingers isn't natural at doing defensive duties.

Hope he hits the ground running with Forfar who are battling under McKinnon. I see Seb Ross is with the Loons too.

    Massive blow!!!

Feel for the lad top top player on his day and will be a massive miss for the team. After that news we really need about 4 bodies in this window if we want to compete and stay in the top 4 spots.

Ooof that's tragic luck for Kerr who's missed quite a lot of football in 2023. Huge blow but at least you have Luke Graham, Sean Dillion and Aidan Quinn so have some reinforcements at CB. Kerr is definitely a top player though.

Like Mo, we need a few to strengthen us, but all quiet. We both normally lean on Dundee United for loan options, however, that well seems to be drying up as many are either included in match day squads or out on loan already. Might need to be another SPL club or even Championship sides with inflated squads.

  17. Supposedly Gal might be back with you on loan for the rest of the season. I rate him, think he offers some composure on the ball, has assists and goals in his locker and would be an asset for you.

He and Golding should have had far more opportunities for us. Hartley being Hartley though.
