I did think we were a bit unlucky to go behind  from a poorly defended corner and Carrick should have given us the lead before that. Neither side had much football going and it was a laugh to see that moaning faced Forbes berating his own captain for some wayward boots. The 4-3-3 did look a lot better once we got up the park but there were still loads of groans at Wedderburn still being on the park ( in spirit rather than presence) especially as he was fouled quite badly in the early minutes and limped on for all of the first half. When he reappeared he was no fitter and the turning point came with Millar's arrival. The goalie must have had the sun in his eyes as he let Carrick (Must score) shoot past him and he then spilled it behind the line. That stunned Forfar and Smith won an aerial duel to set up Gallagher for a smashing lob over McCallum inside a minute. I was praying the ball would drop in and it did. from then on Forfar never looked like they would score and a brilliant interception/drive and shot from Calum Smith gave us a 3-1 lead. Wee Hilson did rattle one of the bar but Roy finished the game by being alert in the box. It was a real turn around and the 4-3-3 with a very mobile Smith and Carrick and a real Centre in Gallagher was the reason. The other driving factor was that Roberts/Millar and even Mckay had the engines to do it. I counted at least 11 long throws from McKay but no goal today. Forfar did not have enough of a presence in midfield and apart from Hilson were lacking the Baird factor.  Surely Murray will take Cameron's hint on a settled side which means leaving Nat on the injured bench. Dumbarton to come and only 4 points behind top spot-I am baffled. Never had a Bridie went for a Pie and Bovril!

Omg should have had the bridie. Ur right about the big guy strange how the manager kept him on the park so long.

At the start of the season Murray would have insisted on playing Smith through the middle with Gallagher out wide. This way makes a lot more sense to me. Onwards and upwards.

Yes hope so they did try to play  football not long diagonal balls some good signs second half particularly had some good signs.  Good win on a chilly baltic day nearly as good as  the bridies.

  3. Smith and Carrick with Gallacher through the middle. Bit of luck with first goal the 2nd half with Miller McKay and Robert's was more mobile and a much better balance couple of good goals Smith's the best.  There were some good signs still may not be perfect I just hope this team and formation starts next week. It also shows having more mobile players in midfield actually works. Good win and deserved.

Hard to see any rejigging of the Stadium releasing cash. Even to build a Dumbarton style one stand must cost a couple of million surely?

In conversation with the previous owner who reckoned with crowds of 1200 we could play at a decent level. It is a strange one having such a big squad. The manager thinks it's a 2 year plan with playoffs the bare minimum. We can only hope he has got the message with our home form of late he needs to get a better balance with more energy in the middle of the park.

The way I see it, if the stadium owner can’t make it work, then it probably confirms what we all fear - It’s not sustainable to run Airdrieonians out of that stadium.

If we went bust again, It would at probably mean we’d rid ourselves of having to rattle about in that big white elephant. The lease would fall away and I would have thought some sort of FC Onians of Airdrie playing out of Cliftonhill/Gartcairn would be the only logical conclusion.

I’d much rather we manage to build a club which can fill the place out, but can anyone other than the Stadium owner do

How many would go to Coatbridge to support the Diamonds  Gartcain? We would reduce standards and expectations and be saying how bad we are in the juniors lol. One thing the owner knows is finances and is a shrewd operator while we may argue pros and cons fact is the aim is to be in league 1. The manager needs to look at himself his tactics not working.  Need to aim higher.

  6. It's clear to me the last 3 home games with all due respect to Stranrear Elgin and Montrose should be all out attack score a few goals 3 games later 3 5 2 an aggregate of 7 3 against shows the manager doesn't think we are good enough to play attacking football. The players don't look as they know what's being asked off them. I don't care who we play in this league I don't mind losing a game if we have had a go and lost to a better team and the fact we are only 6 points behind tells you there are no superstar teams in this league. I have been at every game on the couple of occasions he changes to 4 3 3 with more forward thinking players we don't look to bad. Saturday was as bad as it gets said before the fans are drifting away and we wont get them back with 8 defensive minded players in the team.

Wit a scapegoat for being pish?

Was probably his best game when he got the ball however that said he is too slow Montrose midfield passed not just him but the whole midfield. ..when was the last time an Airdrie midfielder got pulled for a bad or even hard tackle or sent off for an over zealous challenge to slow to powder puff and too busy admiring the opposition

Lets put our slant on it.

After going 1-0 down after only three minutes, I feared the worst.
However, the Montrose players never looked phased and stuck to their  game plan.
We looked slick and sharp going forward and Matty Allen and Dillo cleaned up everything that Airdrie had to offer. In fairness, it wasn't much
This was our easiest game this season.
For a full time / semi full time team, what ever they do during the week clearly didn't work.

A great win for us and a very deserved thre

    You are spot on ...

Honestly, this situation is really alarming right now. Our performances are obviously unacceptable and and this is for a number of reasons. Firstly, we have made a huge gamble on some of our signings this season. I’m sure Murray was hoping that some of the younger lads would quickly make the step up but that hasn’t happened. Meanwhile the wedderburn signing is baffling and I think Murray saw him mostly as an experience bringer more than anything. Secondly, Murray found himself at least a couple of players short - particularly in the goal scoring dept. I said on here in mid July that we needed a proven goal scorer and believed that Murray was taking his time to get the right man or men. There will be plenty of games this year when we need to score our way out of trouble. This team is incapable of that, we will lose vital points because of it. Thirdly, and honestly I don’t know why, but Murray seems unable to get our tactics right and the formation is always a shambles. This is one of his biggest failings. When a new manager comes in to a relegation bound team the first thing is to get the players back on track and to change things up. You usually see a lift in that team. This manager doesn’t seem to have it clued up 10 weeks in and this is HIS team! Fourthly, and most worryingly, the players aren’t fully responding to Murray and now there is talk of infighting in the dressing room. This is a major problem, especially with so many young players in the squad. The team knows Murray is here for the long haul and as others have pointed out, he is stubborn about changing things up. Doubling down on the same formations every week. It won’t take long before the team gets pissed off and refuses to give 100%. I know there is no excuse for not giving your all, but the frustration is there. The only short term glimmer of hope is a positive influence from Cameron (maybe). He has some good experience in the game and maybe he’ll be a good influence on Murray and the players. There are some issues that can be fixed and ultimately the team need to pull the finger out and find a way to get some results. Murray/Cameron need to help make that happen to keep the points coming in until some changes/additions can be made in January. And obviously this isn’t the team that will make the play offs. I guess I’m writing this as a form of therapy, while I watch on and live in hope that this team will be the one to see promotion it appears we are in for another disappointing season and we aren’t even in November yet. Extremely sad and the fans deserve a run at promotion. Who knows what miracles will come but it will take a miracle

You make a lot of good points. We don't need a miracle we need an attacking line up with Gallacher through the middle. The last 3 games at home Stranrear Elgin and Montrose and we haven't won any of them with all due respect it's hardly backs against the wall teritory the way we line up so defensive minded you would think its Forfar East Fife or Dumbarton we were playing

No post match analysis yet from the manager.

Will be interesting to find out the Hutton situation - if he's injured or been dropped.  If he has been dropped this could be the first signs of discontent in the dressing room - and we all know what happens when managers lose the dressing room.

Maybe he hurt his ankle and swore and SM herd him and banished him to the naughty chair for one week

What game were you watching fs, McKay was missing and Wedderburn dictated the game second half for us

Eh the game I was at the Montrose midfield dictated the game we couldn't tackle a pint they had 3 times the shots at goal as we did maybe that's because the have a game plan with a balance of defence midfield and forwards not let's see how many centre halfs we can play in one team at home to the team second bottom of the league who to their credit gubbed us

  12. I have been at every game this year as all was full of hope for the new season however 10 minutes into the Forfar game my bubble was burst this one dimension long diagonal ball out wide didn't work then and yet the manager continues to drag the front players wide. Our midfield never controls any game we get out fought out tackled. We can't defend set plays we can't score from ours and only when we are losing with 20 minutes to go he changes the system and actually play the ball on the ground only then do we create chances. My fellow fans have moaned complained and drank through promotions cup finals and even our European adventure with a smile and the knowledge out team may not be the most talented but we would fight for every ball. Been going through the bad years and this is as bad as it gets and as the song says the only way is up lol
