  1. It has been suggested before. Not a chance though. How do we explain to the kids why are all the other people booing him. Not worth it if it stops any of our fans coming. Yes hes a very good striker but being left in the lower leagues is his own doing. If people forget so easy hed be playing at a higher level. Hes good enough to play for the likes of Hamilton, st mirren, ayr, alloa. Nobody wants anything to do him. Neither should we.
  2. In the words of the great chick young. I haven't heard any transfer rumours so we may as well start one.
  3. It happened quite a few times both ways yesterday. I put it down to the ref letting players scrap a bit. Both crighton and McAllister were quite physical so if he let's it go at one end he has to let it at the other. The only thing was gallacher didn't really try to out muscle his man. Probably because he was offside everytime we tried to play the ball up to him.
  4. Quite agree. This surely has been a change of priorities from the the club. Never mind challenging for the top on points as long as we are 1st place on best pie. Having sampled the mighty forfar bridie its going to be a tough challenge for the staff but a nice wee cream bun or one of those wee minty things with the raspberry can only improve attendance. Think I'll miss breakfast just so I can sample more of the tasty treats.
  5. Should be a good game. Big McAllister on his own gave our defence as tough a time as I've seen from any player this season. Conroy is a better player than he's given credit for. If he's given time and space to pick a pass which our midfield tend to do he could cause problems. I still think we should be taking the points though. Given our recent form and we should be trying to get back to winning ways and put the raith game behind us. Big enough incentive Could be back at the top if raith dont win. 2-0 to the diamonds.
  6. He's played in a few different positions for the reserves. Played in the dale Carrick role last night and did well. Not sure what his usual position is but like I said nobody has been consistent enough to be considered to be challenging for 1st team.
  7. Kerr was quite solid played in fordyces usual position. Wasnt troubled much as alloa didn't offer much attacking. Usual decent range of passing but hard to gauge as he wasnt up against a McAllister type.
  8. Well done to the reserve team tonight. 10-0 win against alloa. I've been to a quite a few of the reserve games and the biggest difference is playing guys like kerr, hawkshaw, big nat and Cowan. The games the have lost are when these guys haven't played. There doesn't seem to be any of the young boys pushing for a 1st team place. Still a good win well done guys!!!!
  9. Definitely one to look forward to. With us being top but starks isn't really a place we have enjoyed going recently. A good win at Falkirk shows previous results dont matter it's all about the game on the day. For the first time in a while we will be coming with a good run of form. Would be good to get a win but both teams have a strong defence and are more than capable of scoring goals. I'd settle for a point but with our away form could be taking all 3.
  10. The old broomfield wins by far. The stadium these days is more modern but is quite soulless. I'd rather be going to away games at brockvill and the old boghead.
  11. Really looking forward to this one. From 3 hours travel last week to 10 mins this week. The diamonds are big favourites but like many have said anything can happen in a cup tie and even more so in a derby. I dont mind if its 1-0 or 7-6 it's all about being in the draw for the next round. Moan the diamonds.
  12. There really has been a few questions brought up here. With Scott gal coming back from injury and having played him in the cup game against bohemians does he get to play and rest Hutton? Do we go with eckersly with young McCann playing so well in recent weeks? Does big nat deserve his chance and rest McKay or Millar? Does ally roy get a start and rest Callum gal? Does dunfermline and Hamilton have a say to avoid Smith and McCann being cup tied if they return to their clubs in new year? In terms of the cup in general. Do we hope for a premier team to make a few quid or get an away game against a team we haven't been to for a while? Or hope for a few games against lower league teams and maybe advance a few rounds. Personally I dont really care what happens in the cup as long as we win this Saturday. I dont think I'd change to much with the team but really have to be careful as the rovers will be giving it everything. The promising youngsters as we were told haven't exactly been lighting up the reserve league but we will undoubtedly need some to come in to the 1st team to cover injury or suspension. Lots of questions that will only be answered in terms of what the management team want at the end of the season. I'll be looking more at the league table than the cup draws but like most of us that could change if we get Motherwell away.
  13. Delighted just to look at the table and see us top. Strong defence and took our chances. Something that wouldn't have happened some weeks ago. At times today we were playing against a very onesided referee too. I'd agree with giving ally roy some game time if gal doesn't make next week. He was through on goal twice today it took a good save from their goalie and the other he seemed to change his mind when one on one . Hard fought 3 points. Just shows really how even this league is. We haven't been in this position for a while so we deserve to milk the status of being top for a while. Stranrar threw everything forward in the last 20 mins and in the 1st few games of the season we would probably have caved. Looks like a different team. Playing with confidence and now have belief that we can hold on to a lead. Starting the same 11 each week is paying off in points. Now we just have the small matter of keeping this run going. The more of us at coatbridge nextweek to cheer the boys on could maybe help with a wee cup run too. Yet another happy day to be a diamond.
  14. Dumbarton have their little group. Forfar have the same. It would be good to have some noise at our home games. Reduce prices or make it free for all kids is the only way of attracting a new generation of fans. Ok It could annoy some who sit near the noise but if they come to back the diamonds I really dont mind. I've said before give the stand behind the goals to the kids. It should be open to all school kids. Any way of attracting new/more coming to see our games can only be a good thing.
  15. I understand the current board have investment to look after and money to make. I wish them well as it means I get to see some success. What I'm saying is to some of us it doesn't matter what league were in. Good players or mediocre. I for one know I'll be there next year and the year after. Theres some guys been dedicated to our club longer and will be still. We all go in hope rather than expectation this year will be better than last. If the current group think fans will not voice an opinion at games when players dont perform they have come to the wrong club. The last few games have shown this. Shocking performances at home and fans have to let players know it's not good enough. Forfar away and dumbarton on Saturday and fans really got behind the team. Nothing to do with messages on DTV or Facebook. Regardless of who the players or manager is airdrie fans will come and watch. Good play and fans will get behind them, bad play fans will complain. I've seen plenty stay behind to applaud players off when we have lost because we seen hard work and decent play. It won't change and I for 1 hope it never does.
  16. So very true. The thing they need to realise is it's our club. The players wear our shirts with our diamond on. Players, managers even board members and chairman change with the passing years but the fans dont. Having grown up at the old broomfield with my dad taking me to games then years going to broad wood now I take my son week in week out home and away. I've sat and watched good times and bad. One constant over the years with all the people running the club at various times is the lack of communication with fans. Our fanbase have always been quite vocal with opinions during games good and bad. Through all the seasons all we want is to have a team who looks like they care, work hard play for the Jersey. Kenny black moved dugouts to avoid the pelters he used to get. Now the current board think we should all sit like school boys and not have a say when we pay hard earned money to watch players not even look like they want to play nevermind win. I've been going to watch my team for 30 years some players have been good some bad. Same with managers and chairman. When I go to games I know win or lose I expect to see a team who work hard and know it's a privilege to wear our diamond. If a steward or someone had ever to had me a letter asking me to hand my season ticket back I'd tell them where to go. I've voiced my opinion at games and will continue to do so. I'll tell the next players, managers and chairman the same in years to come.
  17. Yes mate. Its bsc glasgow away at alloa. There's a home reserve game Monday 11th against ayr utd.
  18. At a home game for airdrie. So how many clyde fans were at the game? Your giving these numbers and not backing it up with how many away fans attend. You come on an airdrie thread trying to convince yourself clyde have a big support. Nobody cares go tell it to some clyde fans and maybe you can all think you're a big club.
  19. And what's your point caller?. Or do you really believe clyde take more away fans than airdrie. Personally I really dont a good fcuk how many fans other teams take to games and have spoke to fans of teams in this league and clyde certainly dont travel in numbers. From what I've seen at our home games Montrose, dumbarton, Falkirk, and raith have all brought more.
  20. Overall attendance at games means nothing for how many away fans attend games. The form table counts more. All the teams who have played Falkirk at home will have the attendance upped a bit. When we played clyde at Hamilton in the league cup we had more fans. More of us went to peterhead when our form wasnt as bad. Forfar was after a run of poor results. As for our home games Montrose brought more fans than clyde.
  21. The diamonds have to show the form of last week. If we are serious about challenging at the top of the table our home form has to improve. With the unhappy feeling at home games the only way to lift spirits and maybe win back some people who have stopped coming to games is to bring entertainment and attacking football. Sadly lacking recently.
  22. Delighted today finally played with gallacher through the middle with Carrick and smith wide. Curtis roberts played further up with nat and McKay sitting. Not sure if it was poor defensive from forfar but gal won most high balls but we actually played some football not longballs in hope. Same as usual from the defence solid in open play but corners and free kicks are still needing work. 2nd half is the best this season by far but now we have to back it up next week. Young McCann played well too. Going on today's performance I'd stay with him starting next week. Big nat came off with an injury and Miller looked much better passing forward rather than sideways. Now we have to look up the table and show we are capable of much more than a good 2nd half in a couple of games. Maybe show we can actually play football from the start of a game and not wait till we're 1 down before we push up the pitch.
  23. Delighted with the 3 points today. 1st half was disappointing but good to see it wasnt just long ball stuff. Big difference in 2nd half was gallacher playing through the middle with Smith wide right. Roberts played closer to the forward line. The team seemed to play with more belief. Forfar played similarly to us in the last few weeks. When the took the lead they didn't press just sat back and seemed to let airdrie have the ball and wait for a counter attack but all too often slack passes let them down. All the best to forfar for the rest of the season. Some good honest friendly fans and a top notch pie stand. They have a good side and we have been overdue a decent result.
  24. Yes it's a good thing but it's the reasoning behind it. Perfect example is last Saturday. Fans in all sections were applauding when we made chances from good play and fans from all sections were booing at the end. It seems more like the family sections have been created to shield some people from hearing how frustrated and more pissed off that more of us are getting. I take my son every week home and away as my dad did with me. If I see the team on the park work hard and create chances fans in all sections will react the same. Equally is if it's the same as we have seen week after week fans in all sections will boo. Kids should be free entry to all home games. That's the only way to create future followers of a lower league club. I've said for years the stand behind the goals should be given to local school kids. If players family members and friends dont want to hear the opinions of people who have been going to airdrie games for years the could go there too and fans who have been buying season tickets or paying every week can sit in the same seats they have done.
