  1. So if Dundee can ask for their vote not be considered can everyone else do that too?. If a team have a different proposal on how to finish the season and want to put it forward then surely they will be asking the same. Cant have one consideration for Dundee and not ask everyone's opinions before all votes are counted.
  2. Ok so it looks like the session is pretty much done. No training and no games all our teams will still be having another few weeks off. If the season returns everyone will have to build fitness and form again. Who would get your teams player of the year and young player of the year up to this point? I'll start with the diamonds and go for Callum fordyce. As hes been solid all season played in a few different positions across the back, ever present and probably the main reason our defence has been so strong. Closely followed by dale Carrick for his work rate every game and improved his goal scoring from last year but fordyce gets the award for a really strong consistent season. Young player has to be leon McCann. One of the best young players we have had for a few years. Considering he arrived as back up to eckersly and has kept his place in the team with some stand out performances. A really solid wee player considering it's his 1st year in senior football.
  3. So does it become the same as with old co rangers?. Players who haven't been payed or asked to take a wage cut by more than half can walk away from his contract?. If in what ever form the league starts again if players are out of contract can they still move clubs and teams basically finish the season with new players? I have had a talk with a few mates about how the season ends and witch ever way it just leads to more questions. Most interesting was cove being top of their league but the have a lot of teams watching their players. What if after contracts expire or they need money so are forced to accept money for players. Then the league continues and they dont win it. Raith have a rather important player due to go down to Fulham at the end of the season. Will they get to keep him till the season is over. At airdrie we have loan players too and will need to keep them sustain any play off hope we have.
  4. Cant really say that would be fair. Everyone would just gang up and beat the f**k out off Jamie hamill. Even half is own teammates.
  5. LIVE ON BT SPORT. League one long shootie, using only the club mascots. Edit to add one supporter from each club gets to attend at a cost of £999 per ticket. Just to abuse the referee over every decision as it just wouldn't be league one otherwise.
  6. Best one yet. Can you imagine the ugly sisters in Glasgow arguing over who's got the biggest kerb or the VAR needed to review if it really crossed the line in the middle of the road.
  7. You do make a good point about all things being considered about how clubs survive. However it's the staff behind the clubs who help with the day to day running of clubs who will need to be thought about too. Part time players will still have income most full time are not on minimum wage.To ask anyone to take a cut in pay over the next few months but expect the work still to be done is wrong. Would you accept half wages for the next month or so if the company you work for cant get work. Scouts, groundsmen, reception staff, cleaners wont have much to do over the next few weeks but will still have Bills to pay.
  8. All football has been postponed until further notice. From professional leagues to grassroots. Discussions will be had shortly do decide on the best way to finish the league season. Looks as if the talk is for the postponement to be the minimum of 4 weeks. I think the club like most will be struggling with no cash coming in from games.
  9. It comes from the time when kenny black was the manager. The context behind it was we had 3 straight seasons where we got relegated but but were "saved " by other events in the league system. Livingston being demoted to bottom league after their administration problems and gretna going bust. Kenny black moved dugouts to change the luck. Rather than just say it was to move away from the pelters he was getting from the fans. Teams used to warm up at opposite ends too but when we walk out to start the game airdrie have always gone to the left and line up to start in the opposite half from the warm up. It still happens sometimes both teams walk out the tunnel and go to the same end.
  10. I have to admit we stole the points today. East fife played the better football and if they got a goal we would probably have caved. Decent save from their goalie just unlucky with the rebound. The guy who was one on one with the keeper should have scored too. We really didn't help ourselves. Poor passing, struggling to hold the ball upfront, defending deeper and deeper. Innes Murray had a shocker when he came on but should have been moved wide when Roberts came on. A really important win but if we sit back and teams have the ball like today we will struggle every game. Will take the win but cant say it was deserved. As long as the points keep coming is the most important thing though
  11. Its been a strange season from the what other supporters would term as usual airdrie badboy behaviour. A few yellows for tripping a player on the break running at our defence. Cant remember the last proper red though. Fordice off at raith was over turned as it was the softest red ever. No proper reds for tackles from 10 yards away. However Ian Murray being the first manager in the uk to receive a yellow and has had quite a few over the season and then he got a red in the raith game. I believe all our coaches have been booked at some point this season. Even the ballboy got a telling off from the ref for time wasting a few weeks back against clyde. Could perhaps be our best strategy tomorrow. Early goal then the ballboy to runaway with the ball and Derek Young chasing him round the 3 empty stands for 85 mins.
  12. If we are struggling for players to sit on the bench but but have a huge squad what's the managers opinion on the boys who won the reserve cup?. At the start of the season we signed quite a few boys who were "fantastic prospects " why take players not fully fit with no intention of playing them? Atleast with a few of the young boys full of confidence from the cup win you know they would give 100% to prove that they were worthy of a place. I was at the reserve cup and ally roy wasnt our best player but was still given game time. Why have all these players as part of a huge squad but have no intention of even giving them a place on the bench.
  13. Saturdays now becomes the latest in a long line of huge games. I just hope it's not like so many in the line that we haven't turned up for. East fife are on the same points and we really need to stay infront. With the work rate Smith and Carrick offer I'd say they have to start if fully fit. The majority of our goals have come when we attack at pace with Roberts, smith , Carrick. Carrying the ball or playing it in behind defenders and getting forward. Its concerning though all the teams around us have scored more. This situation isnt helped by not playing our main goal threats and no attacking midfielders. Playing a back 4 with 3 defence minded midfield keeps the goals out and one end but leaves us short in attack. I agree with what's been said before about going back to how the team started before. I hope leon is ok for weekend as with eckersly out we dont have left back cover. Last time that happened McDonald was moved over and McKay played on the right. I made no secret I think mckays a donkey and should be nowhere near the 1st 11. I'd put hutts back in goal too. Maybe the last few weeks on the bench will have given him the kick up the arse he needed. Goalie gal has only conceded 2 in 6 games but hasn't been worked in most of them and when he has been hes not looked confident at all. Basically we need to start scoring goals again the only way we are capable of doing that is with attacking players on the pitch. This long ball pish didn't work last year. Isnt working this year. It seems the focus is not conceding goals rather than scoring ourselves even when we score 1st we sit deeper and deeper rather than try to score more . We have a strong defence maybe stop thinking about not losing goals and start scoring some. Even if we conceded 1 we can still score more and win . Deep breath, rant over for now.
  14. On a day I really expected longball after longball. We played some good passing football at times. With stranrar starting to pick up points and Montrose showing good form it should be a good run to the end of the playoff chase at both ends.
  15. I really didn't expect clyde to offer as little. The number 4 was honking. 2-0 and maybe should have been more. Brilliant to see the clyde bench go nuts at the time taken for throw ins and goal kicks. Must have a short memory from the game at broadwood. Ref tryin to give the ballboy a warning was brilliant. I just hope he told the ref to go f**k himself. As the saying goes revenge is a dish best served cold.
  16. What an advert for summer football that was. Their goalie did make a couple of decent saves but once again we were poor. Really have to sort this out before we start slipping down the league table. Like stranrar the other week dumbarton offered very little. When it's up to us to go and create chances it just doesn't happen. Missed carrick badly.
  17. My first go at predictions. Dumbarton 0 - 1 airdrie Peterhead 0- 1 forfar Stranrar 0- 3 raith rovers
  18. Goal keeper is a tough one. Last season hutts was outstanding. This year not so much but the defending has been better so hes not had much shots to save. I didn't see him do much wrong to merit being dropped. Can only think it's as has been said about not catching crosses. However now goalie gal has played the last couple he wasnt really tested against stranrar and although raith scored he did make one good save and only had a couple of shots from distance after that. As for the clamour for the new boy to start its probably because the other midfielders dont create much. Roberts plays more advanced but the manager seems to see something he doesn't like. Millar has probably been the most consistent with ball winning and trying to pass to someone who can play. Nat has his speed issues and McKay in the last few games has been useless. My personal preference would be to give barrowman a chance and maybe try to promote our own young players rather than give hibs youth game time. However now hes here why not give him a chance cant be slower than nat or create less than McKay.
  19. I'd go with back 4 McDonald, crighton, fordice, McCann. Midfield Millar with Murray and Roberts more advanced. Then Carrick, ryan and Smith. Just because it didn't work last time gallacher played in the wider role. I think the work rate Smith puts in keeps him in. Gal hasn't done much wrong but maybe the manager is as frustrated as the rest of us at all the offside.
  20. I think it depends if roberts has fallen out of favour. I think the only change I'd make from the starting line up on Saturday would be mckay out Murray in. If Roberts doesn't start then maybe try the ryan in behind gal again. We need to start scoring goals again so playing with a back 4 and 2 deep midfielders isnt creating chances.
  21. I've said myself big nat isnt the sort of midfielder who will thrive in this league. He lost his place in the team when he got injured away to forfar. He had made a few mistakes and generally looked slow at everything he did. However in the last few weeks mckay has bought nothing to the team. The long throw has only made a scoring chance 2 or 3 times in 9 games. Half hearted challenging for headers and has shat out a more than a few 50/50 tackles. I personally think McKay should be sitting on the bench for a few weeks. I'd give the new boy Murray a go. He cant be slower than nat or more useless than mckay. Still need Robert's though with Millar behind. Play a bit more attacking through the middle than balls over the top.
  22. Came closer to stopping the goal than our defence.
  23. Having admitted they best team took the points and maybe just looking for hope but did Baird not look as if he came from an offside position for the goal? Love the both teams goin to the same half at the start too. I'm surprised it doesn't happen more. Legacy of kenny black is still with us.
  24. Fair point. Some quality hoofing on display today. Our ability to hoof from all areas of the pitch must be admired. Maybe it's a players ability to hoof in the general direction of a striker gets a start nextweek
  25. There has been a change of tactics from first half of the season when we played like we were 1-0 up with 5 to go. Sat back and defended the 18 yard box and hoofed the ball forward hoping for a break. Now we do have a bit more urgency to hoof it and it's still murder to watch.
