  1. I’d be absolutely astounded if we keep a clean sheet as was suggested by somebody in that podcast. To be fair, our defence held up relatively well in the second half against Arbroath but we still look really vulnerable at the back. I wonder what our injury situation is like, we’ve had quite a few players who are on the fringes missing the last couple of games. I’d like to see McCabe back in if he’s fit. We need to try and ensure we control the game in the midfield which we completely lost in the second half against Arbroath. Liked the way McCabe took the ball from the back in the first league game against ayr. Not giving Alloa a 3 goal head start this time would be nice.
  2. What do we need to go through here? Doesn’t seem as mental as it did before kick off.. would a 1 nil Queen’s Park win do it and a draw in the thistle, Morton game? If so, mon the fellow Queens
  3. Get Pixelott in the bin until it’s advanced enough to decipher a ball from somebody’s bald napper. Feel sorry for the guys commentating, having to get your coaching staff to wear hats is embarrassing. The coverage is significantly poorer than ours, Dunfermline and Ayr’s. The game itself has been scrappy, fairly frenetic, with both sides clearly struggling for confidence. We’ve done alright though. Arbroath will be disappointed, but that was a really good goal from our point of view. Terrific pass from Buchanan and quality control and finish from Maxwell. Leighfield in goals does make me nervous though, he flapped at one in the first half and could easily have went in. Important to try and keep control of the ball second half, we’ll crumble defensively if under any sort of pressure.
  4. Agreed, Gibson was fine yesterday but think we’re overstating it a bit. Pybus was there every time doubling up on Thomas.
  5. Fair enough. IMO I think Gibson has something to offer the squad, just not as a defender. Hopefully the wind is as bad in Dunfermline as it is in the central belt and we can shitfest a point.
  6. Think it’ll be Shields up top and Dobbie on the left. 4-2-3-1, McKee most advanced of the central midfielders. Dropping Nortey seems a bit strange, not convinced Gibson can defend.
  7. I do think a large part of the problem last week was the two ‘sitting midfielders’. I’d play McGrory and Pybus in there if Pybus is fit to play the full 90. Wouldn’t be surprised also to see Johnston pull one of shields or Fitzpatrick and have Dobbie coming off the left with McKee off East or Shields potentially. Do think that would make us a bit more solid.
  8. Can visit others at home in level 1 generally unless that’s changed since the strategic framework was published.
  9. Fair enough we’re going with a small squad this season but if that’s our transfer business finished then that squad is completely imbalanced. Gibson is not a versatile player, he isn’t a defender. We have four defenders, with Nortei saying it’s not his preferred position and absolutely no depth in defence at all. Buchanan and Obileye can have shockers all season, there’s nobody there to replace them. In contrast, we’ve got 4 centre mids and Nortei can fill in there as well. I actually think going forward we look ok, but it’s absolutely pointless if we’re going to ship goals as easily as we did today.
  10. Obviously we’re shite at the back, but we’re way too open in midfield. Having McCabe and McKee in there doesn’t work for me, missing somebody like Pybus to break things up.
  11. Strategic framework here: http://www.gov.scot/binaries/content/documents/govscot/publications/strategy-plan/2020/10/covid-19-scotlands-strategic-framework/documents/covid-19-scotlands-strategic-framework/covid-19-scotlands-strategic-framework/govscot%3Adocument/covid-19-scotlands-strategic-framework.pdf
  12. My understanding is it probably won’t. The level 0 is virtually equivalent to where we were in mid August, 8 people 3 households indoors, doubt sports crowds will be there.
  13. There’s a clause in my accountancy traineeship that if I take a job after becoming chartered and leave within 2 years I need to pay back the costs of my training. There is the ‘out’ that I can leave immediately upon qualifying. This is in the public sector, the restrictions are most stringent in the private sector I believe. Surprised this isn’t in place for apprentices. Think it’s more than fair enough if the employer is investing in your training and losing your productive time when your at college etc.
  14. I done a politics degree then after a couple of years of working, got a training contract and I am around half way through the ICAS chartered accountancy qualification. Would disagree about career prospects if you are chartered. Places are desperate for accountants, there’s jobs going constantly and automation isn’t going to relinquish the need for accountants. It’s a bit dull, and the ICAS qualification is difficult and time consuming, but overall would say it’s a fairly decent career. I expect to be earning around £40-£45k around 12-24 months after qualifying and I’ll be 27-28.
  15. Get this to f**k. An absolute fucking shambles from crosses. No point playing alright to absolute shite ourselves when a ball comes in the box. Absolutely brutal.
  16. That’s an absolutely quality pass from McKee to put Fitzpatrick through. Some start
  17. Anybody know what’s to happen with the refunds in terms of giving Queens their share of the income? I’d be inclined to let Morton keep my tenner if I knew half was going to queens - doesn’t seem fair we dont get half of the income that’d have been due just because Morton made an arse of their steaming service.
  18. It’s a pre-season friendly and it’s early days but were a few concerning things in there. The centre of midfield looks powderpuff again, adding McKee won’t make any difference to that. We lacked creativity and as said above, Goss and then East were totally isolated. Having Dobbie in behind one of the strikers might obviously help with that. Ultimately though it’s important the club stays alive this season and it’s a totally new team. I suspect we’ll seriously struggle in our league cup group and just have to hope the team can gel quickly for the league starting.
  19. Big Marvin Andrews also, must have the most international appearances of anyone that’s played with us.
  20. Tom Beadling on radio scotland this morning. As suspected, him and 16 others have been left well and truly in the shit and now having to consider a job outside football. Dunfermline could really do with clarifying this as it looks absolutely terrible on the surface. No idea what stopped them extending the contracts for a month.
  21. First year and nope, they got an update today. Correct about the 3rd years though who can ‘opt’ to continue their last few months as a clinical placement and get paid a band 4 wage (band 5 for being qualified). Medics taken out by the GMC, nurses to stay in placement for the time being. She had a fever and a lot of aches and pains Monday night and I now feel like shit tonight so both self isolating just in case. Indication is she’ll be expected to still make up her placement hours from being off this week and had to put it in as a normal absence which feels beyond ridiculous in the circumstances.
