  1. 3 wins in a week, back to back clean sheets; fantastic from the squad and staff. Be interesting to see how January goes, not to mention what if any changes are made before the game on Saturday. That's another win we need to secure, against a team we've managed no bother thus far this season but who have a new manager and are fighting for their lives. Avoid complacency and it should be 4th win and a 3rd clean sheet on the bounce, which would be truly superb. Ayr can just f**k off and appoint someone else, thanks very much. Losing Ian Murray would be a massive blow and a huge spanner in the works at this stage in the season. Paul Hartley, though, he's a guy who looks ready for an earlier step up into the league above. He would leave Cove with my best wishes... Fingers crossed we see some good additions coming in soon; with injuries across all areas of the park, our bench is looking very thin of late. All the more reason to be pleased with the form and the output from the squad. They could do with reinforcements, though, that's for sure.
  2. Terrible refereeing decision to rule out the goal from the corner, and it didn't look like Jordan Allan fouled the dumbarton player to me; defender seemed far, far too weak, against a guy about half his height as well. That doesn't really matter, though, as Dumbarton looked woefully inept and barely laid a glove on us despite Airdrie having a bit of an off day. Sons look in serious bother. The game wasn't a classic, that's for sure. It was not helped by a truly atrocious pitch, but quality told in the end. 3 wins in a week, back to back clean sheets; fantastic from the squad and staff.
  3. Airdrieonians 3-0 East Fife Clyde 1-1 Cove Rangers Falkirk 2-0 Dumbarton Montrose 2-2 Alloa Athletic Queen's Park 1-0 Peterhead
  4. A hearty 'you're welcome' to all the QP fans who've wanted Ellis punted for a wee while now. 'Twas our pleasure. Happy to help.
  5. Hopefully we're allowed to attend, but it would be quite funny if clyde were denied the chance to charge us twice by an extension of crowd limits.
  6. Thistle away on the Saturday, Clyde away on the Tuesday. Smash the pair of them.
  7. Good. Albeit now I'm worrying about the game being off due to covid, rather than the usual weather worry when playing Dumbarton away in the winter.
  8. A big difference in composure on the ball in the second half, I thought. First half QP struggled to retain possession outside the opening 5 minutes. Second half they were significantly better in that regard, and seemed to have been instructed to get much closer to Airdrie when we had the ball. Made for a much more evenly balanced second half. Missing players notwithstanding, I was surprised to get through 90+ minutes without QP forcing Max Currie into a save. Expected more from McHugh and Connell (some particularly poor deliveries from Luca Connell, I thought). Jai Quitongo made a difference and I can see why QP supporters have been looking forward to his return. He'll get a lot of joy off teams like Clyde, Dumbarton, East Fife et al. Over eager at times, though; left the boot in more than once and was lucky not to get pulled up for his petulant wee dig at Easton.
  9. This would be huge for us, especially with Gabby and Salim out for a wee while. We lack a game changing option on the bench at the moment. Confident that we will strengthen what is an already strong squad with a few additions. Not sure we'll have anything tied up in time for the match on Sunday but we should have more than enough about us to stick a few on Dumbarton, who are a bit rank these days.

  11. Would be frustrating to fail to back up two big wins but the last two meetings with Dumbarton have been tight so we cannae consider this a gimmie. That being said, if we play like we did last night, we should be sticking a few on the Sons. 9 goals in the last two games (2-2 and 3-2) but I'm hoping we can get back to back clean sheets, which has been a rarity.
  12. At halftime I was fearing we'd live to rue our inability to convert first half dominance into a lead, but the players suffered when they had to in a much more even second half and showed a pleasingly diligent side to their game to see themselves over the line and secure the clean sheet. A truly wonderful goal from Kerr McInroy who has been a hell of a find. Keeping him until the end of the season might be a tall order now, but it would be phenomenal. A fantastic three points and a very good performance. Attitude, application and fitness of the squad is bang on. Got to make it 9/9 on Sunday now.
  13. Looking forward to this, but have to fancy we will need to be much more clinical with our chances as we are liable to get fewer than we did versus Alloa. Expecting a much tighter affair. Really not sure what to expect from QP. Rested or rusty? Battering Falkirk and drawing in Montrose, or losing to Peterhead and drawing with East Fife? A win would be huge for us.

  15. Having not played a league game on a Saturday afternoon since 20th November, and after fearing early in the week that covid might do for this games chances of going ahead at all, it was obviously hugely frustrating not to see it finished. Although visibility at halftime wasn't too bad, I don't think many would have been surprised had the ref called it off then and there. Certainly that was the expectation of many in and around me at the time. Giving himself ten minutes to think about it, shortly after having had 15 minutes to think about it (and allowing time for a team to take a lead, to boot) was pretty amateur hour; the chances of the weather doing anything overall other than getting worse were slim to nil. It's Cumbernauld in a stadium at the bottom of a hill with a loch beside it. In December. After 4pm. A brief glance at any weather app you care to mention showed that the fog was not expected to lift and, indeed, it never did all night. It's foggy still in the 'nauld as I type this message. That he didn't call it at half time could well have ended a players season. No way the ref can know that, but nonetheless the fact remains. A half-time call off, on balance, was the call that should have been made. The game was only going one way at the point it was abandoned, with another Airdrie goal in the post, especially with the hilariously woeful attempts of the clyde goalie at both Airdrie goals already scored, so that adds to the frustration. That being said, beating Clyde in the re-arranged match ought to be easy enough; they are quite remarkably dreadful. I just hope Gabby isn't as badly injured as it appears. It looked horrific at the time.
  16. To be fair, you pretending that the world is now post pandemic doesn't actually mean the world is post pandemic. You can chose to ignore it, but that doesn't mean it isn't there.
  17. Sigh. I was building up to a cheap joke about alphabetical order, mate, just you calm yer ham.
  18. Got my booster jag yesterday and hopefully, if that continues, we can help avoid excess strain on an already close to capacity NHS and manage to get through this without a shutdown. If that doesn't work out and the NHS starts to get overwhelmed, then football will have to take its rightful place in terms of societal priorities. In such circumstances, instead of a break then restart of any kind, the most sensible thing to do is declare the leagues on the basis of alphabetical order. I'd even arrange playoffs for the spring before starting the new season as scheduled in the late summer. I think we can all get behind that, should circumstances dictate a stop in play.
  19. it looks like this will go ahead, and if Airdrie are able to put out close enough to their strongest XI then we should be getting back on the horse at my local stadium. the 2-1 scoreline last time out flattered our perspective hosts, but Airdrie haven't really gotten any better at taking more of the umpteen chances we create so it's entirely possible we carry on failing to put the game to bed and pay the price accordingly. Turn up and get our shooting boots on and it should be a handsome winning margin. After back to back league defeats, though, a win of any sort will do and this is always, always a potential point dropper.
  20. Agreed with everyone vis a vis McInroy, he has made a big difference and seems to be improving the more matches he plays. If I were a team in the division above that was struggling in the midfield, I'd be checking up on his situation to see if I could offer a half season loan from next month, so hopefully that doesn't come to pass. Pleased to hear the covid outbreak might be less severe than I think a lot of us feared; if we have most of our squad available we should be getting back to winning ways Saturday, despite the improved form of our hosts. Also glad we are getting the QP game re-arranged so quickly; it'll be a bit taxing on the squad but thems the breaks. Good not to be a game behind for weeks and weeks. @Airdrie101; sorry, not familiar with them at all I'm afraid, so can't advise one way or the other. I hope it works out for ye.
  21. As far as I can tell it looks to be going ahead as of right now, but I have no more information than you do. I guess it'll come down to the results of any further covid testing. Fingers crossed.
  22. Speculation about signings is of obviously par for the course this time of year, and I agree that some full back cover (given the Sam Wardrop shaped hole in the squad after his retirement), a striker and some centre half cover would be ideal, but we're going to do well to get players in at this time of year who can walk into the XI, aren't we? Particularly up front. You'd expect anyone who's a sure thing won't be up for grabs. That applies especially for strikers, but is still true right across the pitch. Anyone we get in is surely going to be a bit of a punt, aren't they? Either unproven, dropped for form reasons, hindered by injury etc etc. Granted, we won a watch with Turner in the league suspension last year (not the Jan window, as such) but I'm not going to pin my hopes on us making game-changing signings in January. We need to find the finishing touch and take more of the chances we create. That's been the difference between us and Cove and Montrose in the last two league games. Both games could and should have been wrapped up had we finished the chances that we made (or that were presented to us) before eventually conceding the opener versus Cove and the winner versus Montrose. Can't see many clinical finishers being available in next month. First things first, I'm wondering if the match scheduled for Saturday is actually going to go ahead. Guess we'll need to await another round of testing, presumably Thursday/Friday?
