  1. Not a bad first half. Think Long has looked decent with cross balls, Ola brings loads of energy to the midfield, McIver wins a lot in the air, Lang is a beast of a CH and we need to start taking our chances.
  2. That’s two decent chances Morrison has missed, second was like a pass back.
  3. Mine isn’t too bad but the camera doesn’t seem to be able to zoom and they aren’t keeping up with play. Their patter is pish too
  4. 1 up, it’s a Tom a Lang a ding dong, the Spartans commentators words not mine. We have started really well here.
  5. I take it Hogarth, Oliver, McKay, Allan, Henderson, Nesbitt, Miller, Carroll must all have knocks. Some of them the majority wouldn’t want in the squad but you would think if they were fit they would be included even if only on the bench.
  6. This will be a tough fixture and I fear if we lose you could be right.
  7. Looking at Saturdays game I would say McGinn and Spencer doesn’t work but as you say at least it lets Ola play higher up the park.
  8. Looks like McGlynn is treating this no better than a friendly with the line up.
  9. Surely if they had money in reserve in the bank it would be better to let McGlynn bring in a RB than to keep it to pay him and Smith off. I’m more thinking he has his budget and has spent it and is taking a gamble on Yeats and McKay being adequate cover for RB or is hoping for a loan signing, big risk I know.
  10. I agree but we could probably all list a decent number of players who we have signed, that have dropped down from Championship sides on full time wages that haven’t been any better than part time players in other L1 teams. I’ve said for years that we are scraping the barrel of the full time world and we seem to give out longer contracts to entice these players.
  11. I wouldn’t be surprised if we are paying stupid wages to try and get players to drop down from the championship. My one worry with the way we are currently running is we are going to the same well all the time. It will be the same fans who are buying ST’s, merchandise, doing hospitality, paying into the FSS etc etc. I have to wonder how sustainable it is. The way things are with the stadium and the rent we pay on stands isn’t great as it’s like we are struggling each season before we even start. That statement today says for me if McGlynn doesn’t succeed this season then we are fucked, I hope I am wrong here.
  12. Hospitality booked for the derby game in August, looking forward to facing our big city neighbours again in a league game.
  13. The thing is there will probably be quite a few members who like myself donate more than the minimum £10 a month, not that it matters as every donation is worthwhile. Great to see and hopefully it grows and grows, can’t help feeling success on the park would help.
  14. 1. Hamilton 2. Falkirk 3. Cove 4. Queens 5. Alloa 6. Montrose 7. Stirling 8 . Annan 9. Kelty 10. Edinburgh
  15. I agree regarding MacIver, what I’ve seen of him yesterday and against Bonnyrigg, I think he looks a decent player. He wins more than his fair share in the air and holds the ball up well. I would however question his signing if he has been brought in to play the lone striker role. This is where I have a real issue with McGlynn, we should be attacking teams in this league, especially at TFS but he sets us up more cautiously and prefers a possession based, slow build up response. About 20 mins in yesterday there were moans from the crowd with regards to the amount we were passing the ball backwards and forwards across the back. That style of play isn’t going to get the crowd onside, we want a faster attacking approach.
  16. I think Allan could score goals but he cannot play the lone role. Most of the time Allan gets a chance he puts it on target but he doesn’t get enough game time or support to show us what he can do. Allan for me has been a January panic buy that McGlynn has done to try and cover Juan Alegria leaving but he isn’t the same type of player.
  17. I thought we created a lot more with the set up in the first half against Bonnyrigg but a lot of that could be down to the levels of the opposition. The boy sitting next to me yesterday said he’d heard McGinn is getting injections to play, if that’s the case then it’s crazy to be doing this for a preseason friendly. I thought yesterday we looked like a league one side and Arbroath looked a league above us. They looked far fitter and had much more physicality about them.
  18. That line up would do me. This idea yesterday of bringing Ola on in the holding/defensive midfield role didn’t work and hopefully McGlynn recognised that. We don’t need two there, Spencer against Bonnyrigg done the job there himself with Oliver dropping deep to help if required. Ola can play the no. 10 role just behind McIver with Agyeman and Morrison on the wings. I’ve a feeling though the over cautious manager will opt for both McGinn and Spencer in the midfield and it didn’t work yesterday, they got in each others way and McGinn looks gubbed. Also he needs to cease with bringing Allan on as a lone striker as it doesn’t work either. Try him in the league cup at times with McIver who seems to win his fair share in the air but knocks it down for no one. As I’ve said countless times I’ll give McGlynn the benefit of the doubt but he has to learn from previous mistakes and recognise when things aren’t working. I’m not going to panic after a preseason friendly but if things aren’t going right after half a dozen league games then I think McGlynn will really feel the wrath of the crowd, especially if he’s sticking with his heavy possession but lack of creativity style of play.
  19. I think most fans, including myself will give McGlynn a chance as we really don’t have an option at this stage, we don’t have the finances to change things. It was a narrow defeat in a preseason friendly to a team from the league above, the worry for me was that it was a carbon copy of so much that went on last season. For me though he is on borrowed time and must be aware the fans will turn on him very quickly if we don’t get off to a good start to the league campaign.
  20. I wouldn’t be playing both McGinn and Spencer together as for me they seemed to get in each others way. I’m hoping McGinn is used sparingly this season.
  21. I know it was only a friendly but that was very much a last season performance. Slow and ponderous out of defence and created very little going forward. McGinn looks done, Morrison looks like he is going through the motions and wishes he was somewhere else. I thought MacIver and Agyeman were decent and Lang looks quality. McGlynn isn’t going to change and sadly I feel that could be his undoing.
