agreed darvel playing those 2 teams on a wednesday night at darvel with those prices wouldnt attract 100 paying spectators and i would imagine even talbot support would drop like a stone , these clubs have done brilliant to be licensed , get in the big scottish cup and i just dont see the attraction of l l league or league 1 or league 2

So its fine for Talbot etc to scoop up all the Scottish Cup money but don’t really want to play the pros on a more regular basis? Can’t have it both ways, if you want the big Scottish then sadly promotion in to the seniors might come along eventually

I`m hearing that the difference is Darvel want to win the league and go up....Talbot want to win it, but don`t want to go up... (Maybe happy being the big fish in the wee pond... don`t fancy promotion and not being the Big Fish and not winning all the time?

Talbot would romp that LL. probably a weaker league than the one they are currently in

There is a level of expectation but we are where we are. It'll take another push and money to get to the level that Talbot, Darvel and Pollok are hitting this season. We'll get there I have no doubt as the club are ambitious, just going to need to be patient for another season or two. Plenty of players have enquired about joining the Buffs for next season, such is the draw of the facilities now. It's frustrating beating Clydebank, Darvel, Pollok and Talbot at home and then losing to some of the lesser lights. The club is heading in the right direction though, a top 5/6 finish is reasonable this season, we will get there eventually.

How does a player go about enquiring to join the buffs?

    Quarter Final

    Auchinleck Talbot 2-1 Pollok
Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic 3-0 Bo'ness United
    East Kilbride 0-2 Sauchie
    Jeanfield Swifts 3-4 Spartans AET

    Semi Final

    Auchinleck Talbot vs Sauchie
    Spartans vs Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic

Cracker of a result for Sauchie.

Now thats a proper pair of semi finals. Surely puts final nail in junior cup when you see the quality in this cup. Get the north south and highland league involved and you’ve got a proper non league cup

As the English Premier League have voted to allow 5 subs next season, with all their sport science, massive medical teams and huge squads, surely it would make sense to have the same in the WOSFL. Boys working all week and maybe having to play 2 or 3 games, no wonder players get injured.

Not for me. It just gives the bigger teams with bigger squads even more of an advantage

Knew him as a bit of journey man in an older football manager if it’s the same goalie, ex rangers youth then was at loads of European clubs I think.. on paper/virtually. Will take a while if barely playing I guess.

Wrong boy! He’s only about 24, definitely nae journey man

Never seen him at ayr but today confirms you may be correct

he looked dragged in off the street & gave a pair off boots & gloves dressed up as a goalkeeper

Lyle Avci must be thinking wtf 🤯 Its all about the profile at Darvel though, thats going to be their downfall. Bring in so called big names, when theres hunners better at this level 🤷🏻‍♂️

The Browning pies you get from the shops I recall used to be better a few years back. Now the meat in them is gristly/fatty gym mat quality stuff.

Fully agree with your opinion on the Home Bakery's pies. The Haggis pies they had on sale during Janauary for Burns night were delicious.

Always thought Ayr should sell Haggis pies as one of the catering options.

Home Bakery haggis pies are amazing, would love to see them on the menu at Somerset on a regular basis

Scott Brown looking to rip up his Aberdeen contract immediately. A candidate to be our new Assistant Manager? I don't know if he'd still be looking to play or not but joining a fellow Fifer at Championship level might be quite appealing as he looks to get into coaching and management.

I wouldn’t touch that clown with a barge pole

Couldn't find this topic so I thought I'd start it as the deadline for any applications from new clubs can't be far off. It's the end of March for the EoS.

I hope that Annbank United will be returning. Annbank Amateurs have had a very good run in the Amateur Cup this season. They play favourites Lesmahagow Amats in the Quarter-Finals. They could be a good basis for the 22/23 Seniors?

There was lots of speculation last year about potential applications. Anything being heard this time around?

Stewarton United (Ayrshire Amats) seemed keen last time, any news from them this time?

Will Division Four be abandoned with the clubs absorbed into a Division Three Conference situation?

Have it on good authority that Annbank won’t be returning. I work with a guy involved with them and they’ve decided to stay amateur and try to win some trophies at that level instead of bottom tier WoS
