Great soundtrack for the documentary from a few years back "Off The Charts - The Song Poem Story" just released on vinyl for the first time. The film highlights the strange world of song poems where "ordinary" members of the public would send their poems or insane ramblings to tiny record companies who would then employ session musicians to put these words to music off the hoof then press up the results in small runs. 99% rubbish, 1% howling at the moon genius. Contains such gems as "Jimmy Carter Says Yes", Non-Violent Taekwondo Troopers, Blind Man's Penis and this.

Blind Man"s Penis is an excellent band name.

    Doubt they'll get much...erm...exposure on Radio 2.

He never had a Twitter account in the first place and it looks like he has two Facebook accounts - one is active and one is blank. A Twitter gossip frenzy by the looks of it, probably fed by the fact that most people loathe the little creep.

The parody Twitter account (Mark ne Francois pas ) is quite funny.

People down South must never have watched the routine gubbing that Davidson received EVERY week. Wonder how many unionist political leaders Sturgeon will have rinsed by the time we're independent ?

Are you suggesting that former BBC employee Ruth Davidson benefited from a skilfully manufactured media presentation which was careful to omit these gubbings, orange dogwhistling, and avoidance of any actual voters?

I think you might be correct😉

This sounds a bit like ex-Bonzo “Legs” Larry Smith who (I think) did a similar routine as Eric Clapton’s support act.

My first gig was The Undertones at Ayr Pavilion, April 1983, Feargal’s last Scottish one with the band. I still have the ticket somewhere, signed by all 5 band members.

I saw them on that tour at Tiffany's in Glasgow. Their new lp was The Sin of Pride which I loved. My pals had moved onto Goth and post-punk by then so I went on my own. They were great that night.

It was before my time but I believe quite a few big bands in the 60s played in places like that.

The Locarno in Montrose hosted gigs by the like of The Small Faces and The Yardbirds.

The was also a club in Elgin called The Two Red Shoes that put on gigs by The Beatles, The Who etc.

The Rolling Stones played a chaotic gig at a hotel in Hamilton in the 60s. It had been booked when they were unknown, but they had become big by the time of the gig. Keith Richards talks about it in his autobiography as being particularly mental due to the "enthusiasm" of the locals.

George Melly supported them on the Black and White tour.

No, it wasn't George. It was a younger guy. Seem to remember a straw beater and a striped blazer dancing to ragtime from his cassette player.

I saw Alistair Campbell saying we have become a tinpot country obviously referring to these peerages.

Historical amnesia seems to be becoming more and more prevalent. People pining for the old honourable days when you really earned a knighthood by running a sugar plantation in Jamaica.

I'm not saying the House of Lords was ever an example of moral rectitude. I think we should live in a country where we aren't governed by any of these people. And hopefully we will be, soon.

    Boris appoints 36 new peers.

All 36 appear to be worstcunts.

And to think, the BBC loves to point to dodgy regimes elsewhere that do this kind of shit, with a raised eyebrow and condescending tone. Banana Republic/Post-Soviet kleptocrat behaviour.

The Stranglers /The Skids, 26th May 1978!! Started off in the upper circle and ended up in the stalls and then on the stage, when it got invaded!!
    Absolutely brilliant gig!! emoji4.png

I saw The Stranglers a few times at the Apollo and they employed support acts that seemed chosen deliberately to piss off the audience (not hard to do at the Apollo tbf).

On one occasion I think they had a mime artist, or song and dance man maybe, who came on with a cassette player instead of a backing band.

    You can guess the rest...

People who ignore all warnings and go on holiday to Spain during a global pandemic and then get annoyed when they need to come home early.

Somebody from Leicester is bound to be in Spain on holiday. Check mate by the virus.

Maybe there are some old Roman leper colonies over there that could be re-purposed?

Will pish maself laughing if you sneak a point or something - I have missed Lennons meltdowns......

Would be great but can't see it. Gogic is the biggest miss against them. He was great against the "big teams" because he annoys the f**k out of them.

He must have the lowest bookings to fouls committed ratio of any non-OF player. If we sneaked a point with him in the side you can guarantee Lennon would have gone nuts demanding more "protection" for his players.

Born in 1976 so I would guess she was there between 1988-1994. I think they had a green uniform -blazer /pleated skirt etc which matched up well with the local schools variety of school outfits.

So, to summarise: her remarkable accent is a product of the odd bubble that is Glasgow private schools OR a deliberate confection designed to ingratiate her with the BBC and its core audience.

I'm putting a fiver on the second option.

  13. Heard some boffins discuss this on the radio. UK, USA and Canada, when compared with other countries, are fatter for historical and cultural reasons apparently.

We share several characteristics that are not shared with France, Spain, Italy, Korea etc.

We industrialised early with massive knock on consequences which include:

    We eat much faster

    We eat alone

We eat in front of the telly

    We value being full up

We prefer cheap food over quality.

In summary, we've been conditioned to see food as a way of fuelling ourselves for hard physical labour in a time conscious world, even though many of us sit on our arses all day.

Please let it be Murdo Fraser

I thought he announced he was standing down at the next election (he's never actually won one of course, being a perennial list msp).

For sheer comedy value I'd love it to be Annie Wells.

Breaking News: Mason Boyne has declared he also does not feel he can best put forward the case for the Union. More to follow.

Why the f**k not... Get it going if anything to feel as if life is getting back to normal..

2-1 to the Hibs...  an absolute guess but 3 points would be nice

2 of Accies best players from last season may feature in this. 😥

Enjoy the game, as we prepare to receive the ritual live on telly flag day pumping.
