I liked the all black strip they wore at Douglas Park a couple of seasons ago. Painful memories of Kenny McLean running the whole game in metaphorical carpet slippers.

Agree with all this. In 82 our strikers played for Milan, Barcelona and Liverpool (Alan Brazil is left out to strengthen the argument
). We had at least 4 recent European Cup winners in the squad. Thereafter it's a slow decline with recent signs of improvement. Fingers crossed for the young team I suppose.

I'd love Gogic to come back and haven't seen any news of him signing for another club. Hopefully he doesn't join another bottom 6 Premier team. I'll have to throw out my lovingly worn Alex Gogic pillowcase if that happens.

You're right in that some of the best performances I've seen have been against Italy, England, Spain etc. I'm probably being unfair. Dont want to sound like old guys used to be when I was wee, going on about the Wembley Wizards and moaning g about long-haired nancy boys like Souness and Jordan

Souness was perceived as being arrogant, as well as aggressive. I'd love to see our players show a bit of that nowadays. Granted, the match officials may nowadays take a dim view of you aiming your studs at an opponent's throat, knee or vital organs as he did - and rightly so. But I've been to too many internationals in the past 20 years where our player's attitude against "big teams" is 'please dont hump us mister'.

Watching Scotland v Brazil 1974 again recently on lockdown council telly, I was struck as much by our attitude as the individual talent. Basically "we dont care if you're World Champions, we're Scotland and you are in for a right feckin time of it". No respect for reputations. Bremner halfing the great Revilino on the halftime whistle. We lost that after 78. Now our players look star struck and looking forward to swapping shirts with the big names. Maybe I'm being unfair, it just made me proud to have lived to see Scotland play that way. Sorry, something in my eye...its an age thing alright!

It has been my experience over 40 plus years that Accies fans generally save all their energy for expressing their displeasure with life through anger at the board/management/ team/ each other rather than the opposition (the few obvious exceptions aside). Its what keeps us going

When was the last time Accies signed someone the fans were excited by? Even with Templeton it was a case of "he must be finished if he's joining us". I dunno...George McLuskey? That Brazilian medical student who scammed his way into a pre-season friendly??

If it helps, I've got a tele and a sheraton, and they weigh about the same, although the latter is much bigger. Beautiful guitar, best I've owned.
