Anyone with experience of German trains know if bookings are absolutely essential for the ICE trains, ie you are genuinely likely to be turned away and not allowed on without a seat booked when it's busy?

Had one booked from Duisburg to Munich for 0655 on Friday arriving 1210 (although was going to be getting on at Koln instead now due to accommodation plans changing) but have had an email from Deutsche Bahn and it appears to be cancelled, with their suggested alternative being an hour earlier but I'd rather go later.

No issue with the tickets themselves as we have interrail passes but it doesn't seem to let us reserve a seat when selecting alternatives without paying the reservation fee again, which okay isn't much but between 6 of us I resent giving them another €30 because they've cancelled our train at 2 days notice!

I’m not sure if you will know, but my friend and I have taken advantage of the Deutschland ticket for rail travel. I understand this doesn’t include ICE trains, but does include local and regional ones.

So, we are planning on using the regional trains to travel about the country a bit. Do you know if there will be the necessity to pre-book these journeys like the ICE trains you mention?

     Cheap / free and young.

It depends on what you would class as cheap.

Reports are that we will pay around €4m each for Cortes and Diomande once we make their deals permanent. Transfermarkt have Jefte's fee listed as €800k. Nsiala comes in on a free.

So, depending on who you listen to, it'll be an outlay of ~€8m/€9m and that's before we take into account the other players we are linked with (Rrahmani and Kabadayi).

So, it's all relative I suppose. That kind of outlay will appear cheap to Celtic. Not so much to us.

We lose to Germany... thinking otherwise is , as you might phrase it, a fundamental lack of self-awareness. Therefore, what's the best method for making the knockout stage ? A. Going full pelt against Germany, getting beat 2 or 3 - 0 and losing MacTomimay, McGinn, Tierney for the next two games ? B. Playing sensibly, within our self, marshalling our slender resources to target two games we could possibly win ?

What kind of flawed logic is this where trying to win a match = lots of injuries?  I’d argue there theoretically could be more chance of a player getting injured if they’re going half-hearted into challenges in a match where they’re trying to protect themselves.

Rangers, under Bisgrove, certainly do seem to be really milking the fan base for all they can.

Thats not a criticism as it’s good business sense and fair play to those fans who do the mygers, buy all the strips etc. A mate of mine broke down how much he spends following Rangers, this was back in maybe 2022, and it was eye-watering stuff.

Aye, from a business sense it's hard to argue against. I'm sure I read somewhere that our annual commercial income increased by about £20m under Bisgrove (he has now moved on to Saudi). But as you say, the fans are the ones that pay through the nose for it.

Normally I'd buy one of the tops and a training top each season to wear when playing 5s, now I wont bother or I'll wait until January when the sales are on.

    Embarrassing and petty from us.

RANGERS have WON their claim against Dundee for compensation over the Dens Park call-offs.

Gers chiefs hit the Dark Blues with a bill for travel and overnight accommodation expenses for the postponed Premiership clashes on March 17 and April 10.

On both occasions Philippe Clement and his players had travelled to a hotel in vain.

Dundee, who have already been fined £186,000 by the SPFL for suffering five call-offs and lost an appeal against that decision earlier this week, told Ibrox bosses they wouldn’t be paying.

Rangers took the case to the league governing body and they have now decided John Nelms will have to cough up.

Aye. Rather needless and reeks of entitlement.

I'm not surprised by the vote. The technology does what was designed to do. I think they need to invest more in training and establish how they want the video evidence to be interpreted. It would also help if the offside rule was changed a bit, so that tiny margin situations are not offside.

The machinery and equipment may well do what it was designed to do (even if we put aside the issues with limited frames per second when determining when the ball has been played in offside calls), but VAR is a lot more than just the machinery equipment and it is reliant on human intervention. Therefore it will always be susceptible to human error or a difference of opinion/interpretation.

It will never result in the utopia that it was illogically perceived to introduce regardless of what training may be provided.

19-1 is disappointing. I never expected them to vote it out but even 6-7 PL clubs coming out against it would’ve been a real statement and pressure put on to at least make attempts to make it better or work.

The worry here is such a resounding defeat kills it dead.

Yep. I read the outcome with a lot of disappointment. Given the status the EPL holds (rightly or wrongly), many other nations would've been looking at this with interest and for the motion to fail so heavily just sets back any effort to remove it.

away kit takes the thistle design from the Ayrshire cup and all blue badges and letters hard to beat last years away but this might just do it

I seen this mentioned about the away strip:

    Quote

This years away shirt incorporates components of the Ayrshire Cup, to commemorate our 146th anniversary of first winning in 1878.

Forgive me if I’m missing something, but what is significant about a 146th anniversary?

    Rather nice strips though.

    Good moaning one and all.

I've not really missed some of the total roasters in this section but it's good to be back at least.

Seems like you’ll both fit right in with the bellends and roasters 😅

    Welcome back.

Playing it in Murrayfield seems strange, albeit I quite like novelty matches like that (think Hearts used it for some European games a few seasons back)

Aware there might be works going on at Ibrox but why not Hampden even, keep it in Glasgow?

Might be cheaper to rent Murrayfield out for the match or something.

edit: ahh, a rare thought from me! might just be more tourists in Edinburgh than Glasgow over July

Man Utd are technically the hosts. It’s their tour. Think they done similar last pre-season so they likely have a deal in place with Murrayfield.

But also as you mention, Ibrox is out of commission this pre-season due to the works ongoing.

Surely the Danish Head Coach is the best person to assess who should and shouldn’t be in the squad ?

I remember similar outrage in the Glasgow media when Kyogo was overlooked for the Japan squad for the Asian Cup.

These highly rated national coaches are unlikely to change their selection based on a furious response from Chris Sutton or Hugh Keevins mate.

He certainly is given it's his job. I was just giving my opinion on who I'd rather have in the squad if it was up to me.

My post you replied to though was simply stating that when it comes down to selection, I don't think the fact that Eriksen survived a heart attack should be a factor as to whether he gets selected or not.

I'm not expecting a coach to change their selection based on media reaction. Again, it was just my opinion that O'Riley probably merited a call up. Him being left out certainly doesn't belong in the tin-pot thread anyway, that's for sure.

I see that, but in terms of forging individuals into an actual team that work for each other sentiment is important.

However, You presumably pay more attention to Celtic than I do so maybe I'm just ill informed on this one

Yeah, I do appreciate in terms of squad morale and cohesion then Eriksen is a good choice. But if you're looking at players based on form and current ability then I think O'Riley shades it.

It's probably my overall opinion of Eriksen shining through in all honesty. I thought Pochettino got the best out of him for a two/three season spell at Spurs, but since then I've felt he has declined a lot and been rather average (obviously a lot of that will have to do with his cardiac arrest and missing a lot of football as a result).
