Interesting to see Dowell in from the start. He did look relatively decent last week when he came on (other than his big sliced clearance), I suppose.

Sima being back has to give us a lift and I’m glad to see Silva is fit after being kicked off the park last week.

If Dundee stay up you're going to Paisley

    Home Fixtures without switches
    Hearts:17+3(Dundee,Rangers,St Mirren) = 20
    Kilmarnock:17+3(Celtic,Dundee,Hearts) = 20
    Rangers:17+3(Dundee,Kilmarnock,St Mirren) = 20

    St Mirren:16+2(Celtic,Kilmarnock) = 18
    Celtic:16+2(Hearts,Rangers) = 18
    Dundee:16+2(Celtic,St Mirren) = 18

    • Hearts will need to go to Dundee, Rangers or St Mirren a 3rd time but as Rangers and St Mirren are needing to switch one home game already it's going to be Dundee.
    • Rangers won't go to Kilmarnock a 3rd time and Dundee are hosting Hearst or so that leaves St Mirren
    • And by process of elimination Kilmarnock visit Parkhead again

    Home Fixtures After switches

    Hearts:17+2(Rangers,St Mirren but not Dundee,) = 19
    Kilmarnock:17+2(Dundee,Hearts but not Celtic) = 19
    Rangers:17+2(Dundee,Kilmarnock but not St Mirren) = 19

    St Mirren:16+2+1(Celtic,Kilmarnock, plus Rangers) = 19
    Celtic:16+2+1(Hearts,Rangers plus Kilmarnock) = 19
    Dundee:16+2+1(Celtic,St Mirren plus Hearts) = 19

It would be quite funny if Dundee made top six and Rangers ended up getting sent there again, very unlikely I know but the heads gone and statements would be fantastic.

We will need to go away to someone for a third time regardless so there's every chance it could be Dundee if they confirm top 6 😅

Tony Docherty apparently confirms Dundee requested the game be played on the 3rd, but Rangers sent an appeal in to the SPFL and the date was moved to the 10th.

    Where are you seeing this?

Seems at odds to what has been stated in the article below, which claims Hampden sources insist the 10th was the preference for both clubs.

Why was Dundee v Rangers not played on Wednesday April 3? (thecourier.co.uk)

I see Jim White has also just tweeted stating he's had confirmation that last midweek was never an option with Dundee having told the SPFL on the 2nd the pitch was unplayable. Seems to corroborate Clement's comments yesterday when he said Dundee needed more time to get the pitch ready.

You've clearly forgotten how bad that pitch was - there were concerns even when games went ahead.

Was it unplayable 5 times that season?

Again, nobody is suggesting isolated postponements are much of an issue.

But that clearly doesn't apply to Brass Neck FC.

I don’t think anyone is suggesting that isolated postponements are much of an issue. But cmon lads, this is the fifth time this season alone. False equivalence.

    Absolutely, but that's not 100%.

As I may have said before, anyone with a modicum of sense would have scheduled the match for Tuesday 2nd April. Anyone that denies that is simply being argumentative for the sake of it.

Again, anyone with a modicum of sense knows that SPFL didn't want to schedule the match in the week leading up to the Rangers v Celtic match. Rangers would have released a statement rivalling that nonsense today.

You are basing this opinion on the assumption that Dundee were not consulted about the rearranged date and disregarding the potential that they preferred the game to be rescheduled for today.

Everyone knows the stipulations with the games left. No one is getting taken by surprise here. You can't gain an advantage by playing a game in hand. Do Rangers have an advantage over Celtic right now because they have a game in hand?

No, but I think it could definitely impact on how Dundee play the match.

For example, say next Wednesday Dundee go into the game knowing that a point is enough to ensure top 6. The score is 1-1 with 10 minutes to go. With respect to Dundee, you'd imagine their tactics would be to shut up shop and look to protect the point they need rather than push for a winner.

If the game got played tonight, they wouldn't have that knowledge in order to influence their decision and would probably be more inclined to go forward when possible and risk getting caught out by Rangers because let's face it, it's harder for us to score against a packed defence than one that is coming out.

There's never any guarantee that all MD33 fixtures will be played at the same time anyway.

No, but depending on results at the weekend, Hibs and Motherwell fans could potentially argue that Dundee have an advantage of knowing what result they require against us in order to ensure a top 6 place.

Alternatively, I would imagine if Dundee have already secured top 6, Celtic fans could argue they have nothing to play for when they meet us.
