  1. Beware the diddy team. Anyone ever heard of Kİ Klaksvik? They are the champions of the Faeroe Islands (populate 52,899). They are in the champions league qualifiers just now. They've already knocked out Ferencvaros (Hungary) and tonight they knocked out BK Hacken (Sweden). The Hibees need to be focussed 100% tomorrow night because this mickey mouse Andorran outfit are capable of knocking them out.
  2. Where does this rank in the "worst result by a Scottish club" in Europe list?
  3. Celtic have not been competitive. They have been outplayed in both their ties against Real and Leipzig. These matches haven't even been close. A bit like Bodo Glimt last season who won by 4 goals on aggregate. Celtic are miles off it. Miles. They've had enough chances to make an impression over the last couple of decades and IMO should be banned from European competition for bringing the game into disrepute.
  4. I'm a Scottish football supporter and I want all our sides to do well. I want them to win and I want to see our coefficient ranking improve. This season has been a sobering experience though. I know Rangers have received some terrible stick globally given their record breaking champions league performance but at least Rangers have performed well in the 4 seasons before this culminating in a European final no less. Celtic on the other hand are just crap. Every single year almost. And its not a few years they are rubbish. We are talking decades. Plural. It actually beggars belief how bad Celtic are in Europe and to be honest I don't think they should be allowed to compete in European competition for at least 10 years. They are the biggest joke in European football now.
  5. It was a group that definitely looked qualifiable. RB Leipzig beaten by Rangers in the Europa league semi-final and Shakthar Donetsk have hardly played since the war started. So I agree. To have 2 points out of 5 matches, and out of even contention for the Europa League, is truly awful. However it's par for the course for Celtic in Europe. They are just sh1te. It's nearly 2 decades since they even won a 2 legged tie that was not a qualifier. Let that sink in. How is that even possible for one of Europe's best supported clubs. An absolute embarrassment.
  6. I think the players are good enough to win a couple of matches. The manager though is clueless at this level. Just like Brendan Rogers. Sometimes you just have to protect what you have. No shame in that it's called game management. Big Ange doesn't understand the defensive side of football. It's an alien concept to him. He must see time and time again his side getting split wide open but he's too thick to do anything about it.
  7. I doubt anyone expects Celtic to any other than rank rotten in Europe. No matter what competition they are in they are just hopeless.
  8. Last year they lost home and away (by 2 clear goals in each tie) to the finest side in the Arctic Circle. Bodo Glimt average 5,500 at their home matches.
  9. Pretty much. Brendan Roger's side got even bigger thrashings though so Celtic have actually improved in the Champions League since the last time.
  10. Remember a long long time ago when Celtic Park used to be a fortress. Celtic are, and have been for as long as I can remember, completely out their depth in Europe. They are a last 32 side in the Europa league. Nothing more. That's their level. At best.
  11. Celtic getting gubbed in Europe is par for the course. They are completely hopeless in any European competition and have been for nearly 2 decades now. They consistently punch BELOW their weight. The pity is they got straight in the Groups which means they couldn't even pick up the odd coefficient point in the qualifiers.
  12. Well done Hearts. Scottish football needed a win tonight. 2nd in the group now. Who knows?
  13. Not a great week then for our Scottish clubs. They didn't manage a single goal and collectively lost ahem... 11-0. I suppose if Sligo Rovers are beating our 5th best team home and away then we should not be surprised.
  14. Let's not mention home and away defeats to the Arctic Circle's finest eh? Celtic are just pretty rotten in Europe full stop no matter who they play against. If it's not modest Scandinavian sides with far smaller budgets, it's the likes of Real Madrid. They just mostly lose and it's been that way for nearly 20 years now. Celtic Park used to be a formidable European fortress. Not any more.
  15. I hope Celtic win tonight but I think they'll lose by a couple of goals. Celtic's' recent performances in Europe have been rank and there is no indication they can be competitive at this level.
  16. Mail on Sunday today describe FC Zurich as a "two-bob" outfit who couldn't even play their home leg in their own ground. They finish with..."Everyone understands Scotland's financial limitations, but watching our bigger sides- proper, storied clubs with proper fanbases-lose out time and again to tinpot outfits is becoming soul destroying". Well said.
  17. What I meant to say is it was predictable Hearts would lose both legs. And they didn't disappoint. And there is no such thing as SHOULD in football. If team A has 95% of the play, 50 shots, hits the bar 10 times and the post 10 times and team B has one shot and scores. Who deserves to win? Well it's team B because the idea of the game is not to hit the post or the crossbar.
  18. To be fair Hibs did beat Andorran giants Saint Coloma last year. And the year before it was the Faroese behemoth Runavik they beat. And they beat Asteras Tripolis a Greek team. Apart from that Hibs just lose in Europe. That's what they do. Their record is truly desperate. You have to go all the way back to 1989 to when they beat a side of note. Even then that was Videoton from Hungary. Honestly there's an argument for banning Hibs from European competition all together given the damage they do to the national coefficient!
  19. Losing home AND away to a club which is financially on a fairly similar level is poor. Very poor. And I wont mention the fact they are bottom of the Swiss league with 2 points from 5 matches and a goal difference of NEGATIVE 9.
  20. LOL such envy. I can almost taste it. Never mind pal one of these decades your team may qualify for Europe!
  21. What do you mean you SHOULD have been in front? I didn't see any valid goals chalked off or penalties not given. The basic idea of this game is to put the ball in the back of the net.
  22. As McGowan in todays Daily Mail pointed out Hearts were not "plucky losers". There is negligible difference in TV money between the Scottish and Swiss leagues and Hearts in fact average 3000 MORE at home matches than Zurich. No it was just another dismal home and away defeat by a Scottish clib in Europe. The fact Grant got sent off for diving and ruined the tie doesn't change anything. Just part of the game. Hearts should have won this tie.
