But do you really want to hold on to a player who doesn't want to be there and might be a cancer in the locker room?  There's a difference between having a goal to play in a top-5 league and disliking where you're at. Plus, didn't the club just spend a few million new pounds for a couple new forwards?

I'm strictly looking at this from a business standpoint. And I disagree on the leverage. What's your counter to suitors? "Nah, it's not enough money, we'll hold onto a player that our manager stated publicly was so bad in practice we didn't play him and it's now publicly out there he might be a bad teammate?"

Maybe Rangers will prove me wrong and get more than the alleged 16-18 million reported in the media offered a few weeks ago, but I'm having a hard time seeing it at the moment.

Ross Wilson was the Southampton Director of Football when Virgil van Dijk pushed like f*ck to get to Liverpool in August 17, despite Liverpool not meeting Southamptons valuation. van Dijk went as far as handing in a transfer request and refusing to play or train.

Guess what? Southampton held on to him, bridges were repaired, he played the very first game after the window closed and he got his move six months later for the money that Southampton wanted.

It's really important not to put very much stock into media transfer stories. Transfer fees are ultimately decided by fundamentals - player ability, length of player contract, the financial position of both clubs and recruitment needs of both clubs. All of those remain in Rangers favour.

Morelos appears to be well liked among the squad, there's no suggestion at all that his team mates are upset with him.

  2. If Accies still have that horseshoe stuck up their arse, then I honestly can't tell. I think St Mirren and Livi are probably good enough to avoid the drop. Haven't seen as much of County but they've started well and have some fairly decent players.

If Motherwell don't sort themselves out soon, they could find themselves "doing a Hearts"

Rangers has no bargaining position now. That was the point of my original post. Due to the events over the past week, everyone can now see either Morelos wants out or that there are issues between him and the manager with the club wanting him gone. Therefore if you're making a bid for him, you'll certainly make it way lower than you originally would have because it's apparent he's likely going to be sold.

Rangers have Morelos under contract for another three years. They're in a comfortable financial position with ST money having just come in off the back of two very good European runs, with any losses covered by loans converted to equity by the board. They have all the leverage on this. Everyone knew Morelos wanted out, that has not changed - he's never hid his desire to play in a top five league. And I seriously doubt there are any major issues between Morelos and Gerrard that couldn't be repaired if both sides wanted to - Gerrard has managed him for over two years now.

Players values depreciate when they come within the last two years of their contract, hence why Celtic will be desperate to extend Edouard. If they don't, then they'll have to sell him soon or take the hit on his valuation and sell him at a discount, like they did with Armstrong.

As usual, folk have absolutely lost the run of themselves around something concerning Alfredo Morelos and Rangers. This is how these transfers always end - those of us who remember Dembele to Lyon will recall it ended in much the same way as this.

I love how creative Celtic fans get when they make up stories like this.

It’s almost as good as the story that came out after the last Celtic v Rangers match where Celtic fans claimed Christie had to get a testicle surgically removed after Morelos assaulted him after the game 😂

Maybe what happened is Morelos got so raging after being dropped for Saturday that he went and booted Christie's other baw into orbit?

If it ever collides with Tom Rogic's penalty, we'll know for sure.

Try multiplying that by 2 then adding a bit.

    According to my sources.

    lmao

my sources are telling me that not only are Helsinki due a cut of the Morelos fee, but they’re also due a cut of any future fee for Joe Aribo as a result of sevco defaulting on transfer fee instalments. Helsinki took this in return, according to my chap in the Square Mile. This was the source of much angst during a recent conclave at Castle Greyskull.

The guy committed foul after foul for 90 minutes and was close to getting Edouard carried off whilst the ref did feck all, so he was hounded when the winner went in. Happens in games.  As for your newly promoted, punching down stuff, dry your eyes mate.

Watched the entire game and I don’t remember any real reason for Connolly to be sent off tbh.

I wouldn’t necessarily disagree with that, but it’s not hard to see why it was given.  Bewildering is stretching a point.

Well it is quite hard to see why it was given tbh. Even harder to see why it’s a yellow.

Some refs have come out of the BCD period showing that they’re actually good, they just get affected by the crowd. Others, like Clancy, have shown they’re just bad.

You’ll drop points because Killie are very organised and Aribo is injured and Gerrard has no plan B and no other creative players.

You’ll drop points because you spent c.£6m on 2 new strikers meaning you have 4 when you persevere in playing with 1 unfit, uninterested, huffy striker.

I agree that this will finish a draw but show Killie a bit of respect and don’t divert blame to the ref mate.

Tough game at a place that always makes it difficult for the OF today.
Still plenty to be positive about. 10 points from the opening 12 is a total Celtic can only dream of matching, and it's a bogey fixture out the way.
Defence still looks very solid, and clean sheets are incredibly valuable in a league campaign.
First time in two years we haven't scored away from home.
Perspective very much required from some folk who have lost the run of themselves.

In what way is it a total Celtoc can only dream of matching?

Well it would be impossible for them to beat it, no?
