Understand we paid between 20 and 30,000 for Alan. I think he’d be much happier back at Clyde where he is worshipped, but he’s probably worth that money back. Just needs to find a club that plays two up front and is full time. If you go back and look at his games, he hit the post or bar quite a lot: in a different team he will score loads

I’d be surprised if we paid anywhere near those figures for him. He’d already signed a pre contract with us so doubt we’d have went all in just to get him in the door a few months earlier.  I reckon it was more like 10k or less.

  2. Latest club podcast is worth a listen, transparent as usual and plenty detail in there as to where we are and the work going on behind the scenes. Also reiterating how important it is to keep driving up the FSS membership if we are to put playing budgets together competitive in the top two or three of the championship. Also as has already been posted it sounds like we have been quite proactive in getting ahead of this vote on plastic pitches , it’s great the club aren’t just taking that laying down but I’ve a feeling we might just be pissing against the wind there.

My post originated the £30K Tait thread and was no more than a comment from some Hib's fan I know and that was made clear in my post.

You insinuated it was from somebody within Hibernian Football Club. That was untrue - a falsehood - misinformation, oh will just call it again for what it was from you - Bullshit.

Nearly as bad as that profile that had imaginary conversations with directors in supermarkets about the inner goings in the club

You’re a mind reader now? Nobody has insinuated anything other than the idea of Hibs getting 30k from us for Tait as being a bit ridiculous (it now appears his contract has been paid up/terminated as most probably suspected would happen leaving him free to sign with a club for free)

My contacts are Hibs fans and was no more than their opinion that they reckoned on £30k, that was mentioned in my post but go ahead bullshitting anyway - we're all used to it.

Sorry, have I posted something that wasn’t factual or correct? Could you quote this please? (Presume that’s what you mean by bullshiting)

Would be something special if we pulled that off, especially with all those Hibs contacts going about saying Tait was in the first team plans!

Ah the “Hibs contacts” ……..the same contacts that said we’d have to pay them a 30k fee! 🤣

Kai Kennedy released by York City half way through his 2 year contract. A player I would take as back-up if Ethan Ross doesnt happen.

Possibly if we didn’t manage to keep Ross, I did like Kai Kennedy as a player but I’d say all 4 of our current wide options (including Ross in that) are better than he was.

Why will it? Do you know what budget has been spent? Do you know the managers budget? He has said things in the press about the size of the squad but nothing other than that. It is a moving feast every year this and if the fans come in with more cash the Board have already committed that cash to the manager.

The same suspects, and you are one of them, were the same last summer. Just sit back and see where we end up before jumping to judgement. Your track record isn’t the best after all

Remember the melt downs on here before the season started because we hadn’t signed a right back!? 🤦 ……..then it turned out we eventually did who we hardly needed to use anyway with Finn Yates stepping up to the plate fantastically in that position just as McGlynn predicted he would!

  8. I have a feeling McKenna has been singed to compete with McIver going on how the Arbroath fans describe him and on how McGlynn described him. Good in the air, a nice touch and apparently is capable of mixing it up a bit. He did finish top scorer in the championship the season before last and won the leagues POTY. The fact he can play in a couple of positions similar to Oliver is obviously a bonus.

Only if that club are paying the same wages he’s on with us, which seems unlikely.

As a minimum we’d surely need to pay him a lump sum to cover the pay cut he’d have to take.

Not necessarily, I doubt he’ll be on much money. Another club could either match his wages/offer him similar, or perhaps offer him the security of a longer contract to compensate for a wage cut given he’s now onto the final year of his current deal. None of these outcomes are particularly far fetched IMO and given his form for Clyde since January I think he will have options. Either way any pay out from Falkirk (if any) is likely to be minimal, it’s going to be far easier to get a young goal scoring striker of our books as opposed to trying to shift a Brad McKay type.

Remember Allan is still our player unless we give him a deal to go. I doubt anyone will offer money for him.

Shanle hasn’t shown enough to me to warrant a contract for the Chanpionship. He’s a neat player but for me he just isn’t good enough.

We would not have to give him a deal to go if another full time club came in for him, we’d simply allow him to leave. That situation isn’t that far fetched given his form in the 2nd half of the season for Clyde probably attracted a bit of interest in him, in fact I’d wager if jobby McCall leaves Clyde and ends up at queen of the south as is rumoured it’s very likely Jordon Allan will end up there as well.

Was thinking last night about whether I'd swap this season for a cup win and I genuinely couldn't answer.

Scottish cup I think probably the only trophy that would top this season, it’s the highest profile trophy we realistically have a chance of winning and would allow us to play in a European competition which would be massive. The other two cups don’t come close however.

There isn’t a bottomless pit of the #NBP &, as unlikely as it was, they found themselves down to the bare bones on Saturday. That, ultimately, it boiled down to the CF filling in, (as 5th choice). It showed the resilience in the squad that it could be covered.

With the release list still to be issued. It shows that cash has to be spent wisely & unless a vacancy appears to accommodate a player like Hanlon. Then that could be better spent elsewhere.

If Mackie is being released I can understand the Hanlon signing should it happen.

Definitely need a left sided centre back but Paul Hanlon's always looked murder against us.

Raith fans are chomping at the bit for him and Stevenson so hopefully that's where they both end up.

Not sure if Hanlon at this stage in his career would be an upgrade on what we already have at left sided centre back or left back, I’d actually prefer us just to give Mackie a years extension however if there is truth in it I’m happy to trust Mcglynn given his record so far in recruitment.

I'm 47 and haven't seen the club as unified as this before.

The Jefferies era was magical but there was still a lot of infighting with the board, police investigations and court cases...

Beating Rangers, Celtic, Hibs and rag dolling Hearts was brilliant but this era just feels different and I'm absolutely loving it as well.

Agreed, the atmosphere around the club at the moment is as good as I can ever remember. The same goes for the football on show, it’s arguably the most attractive and attacking i’ve seen us all be it playing against lesser opposition than in the Jeffries or Yogi era’s but you can only beat what’s in front of you. We seem to be getting most things right at the moment, the football, the business operations, the new academy and have implemented a democratic fan ownership model that’s actually working. I don’t want to jinx it but it really feels like as a club we could kick on and go from strength to strength. That target of being back in the premier league by 2026 might just be achieved if we all keep at it and don’t let any inevitable bumps in the road derail us. The fans have a massive part to play in getting behind the club both in a general sense and a financial one to keep this momentum going, it’s important when some form of shit does hit the fan we do all stay on the same page and keep that positive energy going for as long as possible.

Has your account been hacked LB?

Haha, no it hasn’t. I actually agree with you in that proper Alloa fans wanting to travel deserve to see the game as well, it just seems a shame there are going to be perhaps 100 or more empty seats that could have been utilised but I understand there probably is no perfect solution to that issue all be it a small issue that it is.

  16. 48 minutes ago, SuperTuesday said:

No chance, I would rather have fans of an away team who can be bothered to go than day trippers.

Fair point but would you rather have empty seats than paying customers as will be the case on Saturday?

  17. 15 minutes ago, ShaggerG said:

I'm assuming that there will be a full section empty between home and away fans? According to the Alloa site, they've sold 56 tickets.

Edit to say that I'm not having a go at Alloa here, it states on their site that tickets will be sold up until kick-off, so I would think there will be a few more in there.

It’s disappointing there will be an empty section of seating segregating the home and an away fans along with unsold tickets in the Alloa end, we could have had a few more Falkirk fans in there. At the risk of sounding like one of the Glasgow arse cheeks could a case have been made for this one off game simply not to sell any away allocation and give the tickets to Falkirk fans?

He was. Kevin McAllisters was Tottens assistant but both were removed when the team were relegated. Then Airdrie went bust, McCall arrived and a new golden age for the club began.

Tony Docherty was a community coach when Alex Totten was in charge.

Was Chisholm not Ian McCall’s assistant? Think Tony Docherty had the same role under McCall as he did under Totten?

What we will need to guard against whilst speculating about possible signings is other teams coming in for our players. It won't have gone unnoticed after this season sometimes you are victims of your own success.

Haven’t we already guarded against that by getting them all singed up early? Only one still at risk of walking is Yeats and the noises are he’s ready to sign on also.
