  1. Starfelt is a major weakness for Celtic. Hibernian have to keep placing balls in his area to try and deal with.
  2. I agree Austrian football shouldn't be included in this thread. It should be covered by it's own. I know about Swiss football and German but not the rest and it would be too many to keep up with haha.
  3. Just seen Dundee United team. How many players need to have covid in Scotland for a game to be called off?
  4. Dortmund fully in mid season slump mode now after losing to Hertha Berlin. Will Haaland leave in January or will Dortmund manage to hold out until the summer?
  5. Zurich came from 1-0 down to beat St Gallen 3-1 to go 8 points clear of Basel. Servette beat Luzern 2-0. Luzern have a new coach in Mario Frick who was at Vaduz previously. Some good games tomorrow Lugano vs Young Boys Basel vs Grasshoppers - This is a rivalry of sorts. Anytime a team from Zurich play Basel it can be heated in the stands. Sion vs Lausanne - Romand Derby.
  6. Austria is part of the Alpine countries. I really don't know much about Austrian football. except the whole league system changed a few years ago and RB Salzburg are very powerful and probably are the 2nd best team in the Alpine region at the moment (after Bayern)
  7. That is good news. I don't like it when a team wins promotion and then is told to move stadium. Another thing we could learn here.
  8. Love to see it - Part time club top of the tree at christmas. If the unthinkable was to happen would you be allowed to play games in your home stadium or would you have to ground share with someone near by?
  9. Vaduz have a good chance of going back up this season. They play Winterthur on Sunday in which if they win they'll be back top of the league. I'd prefer a larger league and trying a system like they have in Austria in the Super League but j can see the argument from the other side. There is only really 14/15 clubs who have the fan base and finances to make a go at the top level. I think what we need to concentrate on is making the licencesig system a lot easier to get into the SFL when you look at the 3rd tier and only 33% clubs can actually only go up due to their chances of getting a professional license that's a problem that needs looked at first before we start reformatting leagues and such.
  10. Aarau go top of the Challenge league after a 1-0 win over Xamax. Thun held at home to Schaffhausen whilst Kriens end the first half of the season with 6 points (Thank god for Kriens) after losing to Yverdon. Truly depressing being a Xamax fan right now only survived last season on goal difference and could easily finish 9th again this season. Players look like they don't care, a coach who is tactically inept. Thankfully it's six weeks until I need to see this lot play again.
  11. Ukraine I feel shouldn't be underestimated but I can't see why Scotland shouldn't be competing for first place.
  12. Switzerland's nations league group Czech Republic Switzerland Portugal Spain Could have been worse could have been better. Most likely competing with Czech Republic for 3rd place but Portugal might be in tear it up and start again mode if they lose in the World Cup playoffs. Liechtenstein drew Latvia, Andorra and Kazakhstan or Moldova. Liechtenstein should be aiming to pick up points against Andorra and hopefully pick up a draw at Rheinpark against one of the other two. Latvia are the best team from this group based on what I seen in qualifying for the World Cup.
  13. There are a few factors I would say have added to Young Boys being worse than the last few seasons. 1) New coach, the coach who won the league three years in a row has left and moved to Leverkusen. David Wagner i thought was a positive appointment but just doesn't seem to be working for Young Boys as well as it did for Gerardo Seoane. 2) They've been hit by an injury crisis which includes there best player Jean-Pierre Nsame being out for the majoirity of this season. I think once you take 78 goals in 130 appearances out of any team they'll be an affect. 3) They concentrated on the Champions league. They did this a few years ago also but got away with it as Basel were weak and St Gallen were there title rivals with Cedric Itten as their main goal threat.
  14. Frankfurt have placed their former coach Adi Hütter under even more pressure after beating Gladbach.
  15. Scored again in the game versus Young Boys. Seems very quick with a ball at his feet and isn't scared to run at a defender. Basel fans are liking him from what I have read on blick In the last few games.
  16. At the moment the decision is down to the local government of each Canton as to how many fans are allowed in. At the moment the numbers have been limited for most clubs. SFL have advised that away fans shouldn't be allowed in to games until the new year but this has only slightly been followed. Zurich had fans in Lausanne last weekend for example. I hope this somewhat answers your question :).
  17. Young Boys 1 - 1 FC Basel. Both sides cancel each other out making Zurich the real winner of this game.
  18. Young Boys vs Basel will go ahead. Young Boys have an injury crisis though as their first choice goalkeeper and 2nd choice are both injured.
  19. Young Boys came from 2-0 down to Sion to win 4-2 against ten men, whilst Basel could only drew with Servette in Geneva coming from behind twice. Luzern (St Johnstone fans might remember this club) managed a draw at the Letzigrund against Grasshopper to close the gap to one point at the bottom of the table. FCZ - 37 FCB - 31* Lugano - 30 YB - 28* *Basel and Young boys have one match in hand. FC Zurich coach has now talked about why can't Zurich dream of winning the league and they won't be pushed to sell players in January. Whilst Lugano are talking about strengthening their squad in the winter break... This could turn into a very exciting race for nr. 1. I would like to see Lugano stay in the race but i think they will be the ones to drop away. A team from Ticino winning the league would be nice to see it hasn't happened since 1949.
  20. It is nice to see Kaiserlautern competing for promotion from the 3. Liga. Shame it seems that 1860 Munich are just a mid table team this season.
  21. Thread about all things Swiss and maybe Liechesteiner too. With only one round before the winter break for 6 weeks. FC Zurich will be confirmed Winter champions if FC Basel fail to beat Servette in Geneva today. Young Boys play FC Basel on wednesday... maybe this is still to be confirmed because FC Basel have requested to not play in front of a limited crowd due to Covid regulations in the Bern Canton. The main talking point at the moment is maybe moving the Super League to 12 teams the new leader at SFL is in favour of this regardless that it has been voted down every time it has been brought up. Citing they're is enough empty stadiums in this league without adding another two and there isn't enough money for the top teams to share among themselves.
  22. Sorry I didn't mean to disturb your thread if this is the incorrect place to post this information. We're going through a bad run right now with only two wins in ten and losing the last game 4-1. I think Vaduz (club from Liechtenstein) and Thun will finally finish top two i'm just unsure which one will win the league right now.
  23. FC zurich will become winter champions in Switzerland today if Basel fail to beat Servette which is no given. Big game on wedensday if it goes ahead as Basel play Young Boys. If Young Boys were to lose that it may be the end of David Wagner. 2nd tier (Challenge League) is almost as wide open as our Championship. Vaduz lead but after 17 games only have 30 points.
