WhatsApp messages an absolute non story,  into about it's tenth day of being trotted out by the media

Meanwhile the real main story of the time,  mone and barrowman repugnant corruption,  being rushed through on Scottish news

More likely to hear it on English media

It really isn’t a non-story.  Despite what you might think about it the notional idea of the enquiry is to understand what went on during the pandemic to learn lessons.  Without access to all the information it can’t do that.  Whether it has a hope in hell of achieving those objectives even with all the information is an entirely different question.

It’s brought to light a somewhat lax attitude to record keeping by the Scottish Government so the processes can’t be examined.  Depending on your point of view this could be classed as stupidity, incompetence or an organised cover-up.

If it wasn’t an issue I doubt the FM would be apologising about it both in FMQ’s and at the enquiry itself or starting both an internal and external review about it.

Anyway I'm just highlighting all the types of silly nonsensical posts that the jealous yoons are so fond of posting.

I'm sure that sounded good in your own head.  To be fair it is one of the less mental thoughts that you have had.

Your next action on this site should be to delete this thread.

Been enough deletions gone on lately.

I don't commend her vulgarity but Nicola is spot-on in her assessment of Bungling Bonzo and Co.

What’s wrong with the vulgarity?  It’s normal and how most people talk.

ETA I’ve called many a politician a fanny/c**t/fucking idiot etc in WhatsApp groups.  Seems reasonable to me.

I know they'll get called shite going by this thread's trajectory, but anyone that does crushed neeps should stick some nutmeg & cinnamon though it.

Neeps and tatties are perfectly acceptable.  It's just the Haggis part that's shite.

So Jedi, what would you expect the deleted messages to disclose?

Perhaps Sturgeon "wanted to let the bodies pile high"  like Boris Johnson?

Perhaps Jason Leitch ignored scientific advice, like Rishi Sunak's disastrous 'eat out to help out' scheme?

Perhaps didgy PPE contracts were handed out to SNP cronies on the basis of WhatsApp requests?

Even though the Tories deleted their messages, we know that Westminster was guilty of all 3 things I mention above

What are you (and others) suggesting that the SNP did wrongly? The silence is deafening.

Are you just trying to manufacture some 'SNPbaaaaad' outrage?

Mark Woolhouse is suggesting they ignored scientific advice.

I still can't get my head round why just about every local authority in Scotland makes conducting official business by WhatsApp and the likes a disciplinary offence yet the Scottish Govt itself deems it perfectly acceptable. The whole thing stinks of double standards.

Even the guidance is confusing.  I'm interpreting that as it should be used for official info only (even though it's talking about social and business contact).  It then goes on to say it will be subject to FOI (which to me means should be recoverable and also implies official business) and then says it's not the official record and you should delete them which contradicts the above.

I thought it was 10% of what is owed at the start of the year? Eg. 3 year fixed rate deal of £40,000, I could pay £4000 the first year, £30,000 left start of Yr2 £3000 can be overpaid, £20,000 owed start yr 3 then £2000 could be paid, no?

Apologies if my explanation is woeful.

That’s how mine works.  I worded it badly as I was focusing more on the dates.

In regards to overpaying 10% of your mortgage yearly, does this start in January of each year or is it dependent on when your mortgage started?

Mine is up for renewal in July so can I overpay 10% from last July to this or is it from January until my deal is up?

I think I now know which one is the correct answer and have thought it was the other answer 🤦

Typically it runs from when your mortgage commencement date is.  You can pay 10% of what you owed on that date over the next year without penalty.  Nothing to do with calendar or financial years.

So we're going to shut down the rail network, in Scotland, every time there's inclement weather because health and safety?

Do no accidents happen on Scotland's roads as a result of weather - why does the employer's health and safety requirement miraculously not apply to road transport, haulage and commuters too?

Because their unions don’t fancy some extra time off on full pay?

I think you can replace your quoted  rate with hour rather than day.

Was looking up the KC that's asking the questions just now and came across this.

    https://ampersandadvocates.com/2022/05/04/jamie-dawson-qc-one-of-eleven-qcs-appointed-to-uk-covid-19-inquiry-legal-team/

That's 12 KC's and a solicitor minimum.  Assuming the solicitor is broadly the same cost as a KC that's £4.5k to £6.5k per hour so close to £40k per day.

Conservatively 6 hours a day and 220 days a year that's easily £8m worth of kerching just in the fees for them.

According to the taxpayers alliance this is actually costing about £110k per day.

  12. This time last year my supplier almost doubled the cost of LPG.  Went from 38p a litre to 65p a litre.  I'd expected it to fall back a bit in line with how other energy prices have gone over the last 12 months.  Nope.  Got my contract renewal letter and if I sign on with them again it's 65p a litre for 12 months and then they can change it how they like for the next 12 months.

Robbing barstewards.  Something really needs to be done to regulate the LPG market in the UK.

The House of Lords yesterday voted to delay deciding on the UK-Rwanda treaty until Government ministers can demonstrate that Rwanda is safe.

Sunak urged peers not to 'block the ''will of the people'' '  So we are the People??? Aye the country democratically voted for Brexit.

Meanwhile on X Farage has a meltdown about the Lords exercising their right to not just take the Government's word on this as fact and lashes out that all current members of the House Of Lords should be sacked. No idea why this wee pr**k is still relevant to mainstream media, must be the idea of him jumping up and down with rage when things don't go his way.

So now the Government have until the middle of March to address 10 flaws in their case that Rwanda is safe, does this mean that the 2nd reading of the bill is delayed until after? Sunak has insisted that this delay will not delay the bill moving through the Lords. So how is he going to make that happen? Sack the Lords and replace them to stack the deck in his favour, threaten them, bribe them?

No practical way to sack members of the house of Lords except in specific circumstances.  Criminality being one of them.  Inciting a punch up in the bar and having them all arrested for affray might do it.  Would be an excellent laugh.

In theory he could appoint a whole raft of new peers that would support his plan to get it through any votes but I doubt that's going to happen.

He's grandstanding so he can say at election time "we tried and such and such group blocked it.  Don't vote for them or we'll be flooded with immigrants".
