Yes, and the membership critieria are set in the LL rules:

B - MEMBERSHIP OF THE LEAGUE

B1 All clubs must, on the Completion Date, be licensed, full members of the Scottish FA. The maximum number of clubs will normally be sixteen (16) but may be increased temporarily to a maximum of eighteen (18) at the sole discretion of the Board.

B2  No club can have more than one team playing in the League or any other League which comes under the jurisdiction of the Scottish FA Professional Game Board.

B3  It is mandatory as a condition of membership that clubs purchase group insurance organised by the league. Clubs will be invoiced by the treasurer when payment of premium is due.

On top of that there are rules about finance, like paying dues on time. Nothing about location. They could of course change the rules, but as they stand they are required to take the winner of the EOSFL wherever they play, so long as they are licensed. And arguably, introducing a location requirement could be a change to the rules that would require the agreement of all the parties. http://slfl.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/SLFL-Rules-Version-13.pdf

That’s quite a bit of detail. Can accept those criteria.

im just wondering - where do the actual fans get an input  or be quoted . I know it’s through the Club committee,,, but that’s another story.

Does anyone anywhere have an accurate number of actual spectator attendance across the various leagues?

You remind me of someone, I can't quite place it.............

No sure if that’s a compliment or an a challenge. I’m taking it positively😉.

    Trust me - I don’t think that we’ve ever chatted before - I’m brand new to P&B.

Actually, I’m finding it interesting and wide ranging on a lot of things.

I’m just a wee bit unsure on how to use it just now.

  3. We are all aware of the term ‘Elite Professional Sports’

Is it really applicable to levels 7/6/5/4,,,,,,, or higher?

I’m struggling to accept that it does, however I admit that the word elite is probably clouding my thoughts.
When Elite is removed from the statement we simply have - Professional Sport! Does this term then apply to EoS/WoS/LL/HL/SSL etc?

what happens when Amateur Teams are involved - the word professional is against their founding principle.  Recent  applications to EoS May include amateur teams - we will soon find out. However, Queens Park - Hmmmm!!!

I’d appreciate if anyone could give an explanation.

Just curious, is there a possible scenario that could see 6 EOS Premier clubs relegated at the end of this season, ie exactly a third of the league?

For the purpose of this scenario, lets suppose the lower leagues do get the green light to restart.......I've already entered fantasy land territory, this I know.

FWIW, I suspect there wont be a playoff further up the leagues involving a tier 5 overall champion and club 42.  Call me cynical.  But if it did, and if Kelty (for example) lose to either the Highland champs or the club likely to be bottom of League 2 (Brechin), the Lowland would remain at 17 with the almost guarantee of a team being promoted into it.  If the licensed WOS champion, ie Clydebank or Darvel (both trying to get license in time), was to prevail against the EOS champion - and potential SOS champion too, the Lowland would then be at 18 clubs and we know they intend to reduce to 16.

VOL and Edinburgh Uni would likely finish in bottom two spots, and geographically both be sent to the EOS Premier - which would then increase to 20 teams.  This  which would presumably increase further to 22 clubs with the addition of the two EOS Conference champions being promoted into it.

Would they honestly look at binning 6 sides from the top league - which as a one off I would sympathise with, or would they attempt a more pragmatic approach - relegate 4 for example and remain at 18, with the hope that things wouldn't repeat itself next year, and then they could return to the optimum 16 clubs.

Infact, thinking out loud, what if Brechin had a mini resurgence and Albion Rovers for example fell out League 2 but not replaced by the Lowland Champion.  That would add yet another side to the Lowland and a potential 23rd club to the EOS.  7 sides to be relegated - surely not!

Yes I know, all very hypothetical, and unlikely too so don't need anyone jumping on the bandwagon re that, however the EOS have a duty to plan ahead for the worst possible doomsday scenario and what consequences that could have throughout their pyramid.

Potential crazy times ahead - if we ever get the go ahead!

I thought the doomsday scenario was actually 7 relegated.
Your explanation cheers things up for one club - whoever they may be.

Imagine finishing in 7th from bottom and being relegated. Brutal!!

It’s very interesting isn’t it? Is it a case of simply expanding Conf A and Conf B? Or, will there be an additional Conf C?

    Could there a geographical split?

Will the Premier survive as it is?

it’s going to be an interesting couple of months,

As far as I'm aware after chatting to a lot of managers and committee people of clubs, I've not heard anyone regret continuing playing this season, most say its been an excellent and worthwhile season so far, until lockdown started.  Suppose only teams who would say that are teams who have been pumped a lot and languishing at the bottom of their respective leagues. I thought the standard of play was good , especially in the WOSFL premier division and kept fans interested in how their team is progressing.

Well I don’t think that anyone is going to say that they’ve enjoyed competing this season.

Personally I think it’s a bit bizarre to think that matters have been well handled.

I think an awful lot of people have forgotten that the at any level of the game it’s about enjoyment.
    Nobody has enjoyed this season.

  7. The WoSFL have at least signalled the intentions of the Board.

at least ‘‘tis direction allows the various Club Committees to work from a basis.

It’s got to be said - some clubs made a smart decision at the start of the season and didn’t take part.

if things restart; it could become a bigger nightmare for club finances - players & managements wages, expenses, dues and fees will then have to be paid.

All for what??? A very hollow league played under conditions only wartime could compare.
