  1. I actually think Burrell is a good player and think he deserves to be in the team of the year. However, for me Maciver is a better fit for the way we play. Yes, he could be more clinical but he has also been a big part of the reason we have scored so many goals as a team.
  2. Great battling performance. Defence shaky at times but that will happen when you’re down to 4th and 5th choice who have never played together. Miller and Nesbitt were particularly good. Thought Agyeman again looked dangerous when he came on- he would actually be my first substitute across the front four as he is a nightmare for defenders. On to next week now and the chance for the players to write their names in history.
  3. As far as I’m concerned, £1 spent by a day tripper is extra money in our bank account, and is more than welcome. The easiest way for any business to increase income is to get existing customers to spend more. I’m sure the club will have plans in place to capitalise on the extra bodies through the gate. Certainly not as simple as “they’re just ugly sisters fans”.
  4. Fantastic achievement for the players selected. Feel for Maciver but realistically any player who scores 20 league goals for a mid table side deserves to be recognised.
  5. Shanley hasn’t done a lot wrong but equally hasn’t done anything to suggest he’d make much impact in the championship for me. If money were no object, I’d be looking to put him out on loan for a season to league 1. As it is, I’m not sure there’s much benefit to anyone having him sit on our bench or in the stand. I think the money would be better going towards a new striker.
  6. Thought it would be a tough game yesterday but dominated from start to finish. Miller and Nesbitt particularly good. Real chance now for the players to make history.
  7. Difficult one- Mackie has done well in the last few matches and his versatility is a bonus. However, I do think we need to leave space in the squad to bring in some additional quality. We won’t have much if any room to do that if Mackie is retained along with Yeats, Shanley, Tait and Ross.
  8. I think the option on Shanley will be with the club. Personally I’m not sure he’s shown enough to justify a deal. I would put the money towards a striker who can challenge Maciver.
  9. I agree- happy to keep him as a squad player but his end product doesn’t justify a huge wage offer for me. Especially when we already have a lot of good options in that position.
  10. They’re unlikely to buy a season ticket right away, but if we could even get them to come to the first game of the season, that would be a start. Some will be day trippers but others may have stopped attending regularly for whatever reason and could be attracted back.
  11. For me there’s nothing wrong with prioritising home fans in the rare event that space is limited. The vast majority of teams would do the same- I’m sure Alloa would be filling more seats at the Recs with their own supporters if they could. Every Falkirk supporter in the ground is someone who could be attracted back along next season.
  12. Tait and Yeats would be the priorities for me. Tait has been great alongside Spencer, but could be an option further forward too. Ross would be a useful player to have in the squad, but doesn’t have the end product to justify a huge wage offer for me. Mackie has been excellent at centre half the last few games and likewise would be useful to keep if his wage demands aren’t excessive. Shanley hasn’t had lots of game time, but hasn’t done a lot when he has played. I’d be minded to put his wages towards a striker that can challenge Maciver.
  13. I would say Agyeman has contributed much more in terms of goals and assists than Ross. 8 goals and 4 assists compared to 2 goals and 5 assists. Ross for me doesn’t contribute much in too many games whereas Agyeman is more of a handful for defenders (even if unpredictable).
  14. Agyeman was excellent. Understandably hard for him to dislodge Morrison but he is a much better option than Ross for me- more direct and more end product.
  15. For me a fourth stand would be far down the list of priorities, unless it could somehow be funded on a cost-neutral basis as there is no need for the extra capacity. The fact that has not been possible in 20 years suggests it is a non-starter.
  16. No player in any position should have an automatic right to start imo. We should be looking to have the strongest starting 11 and squad as possible. If that means bringing in players who can challenge and eventually replace current starters, so be it. Part of the reason for our success this season in my view is that we now have competition for places in a good number of positions.
  17. Don’t think anyone is talking players down. Clearly this season has been fantastic and players and management alike deserve credit for that. However, next year will be a significantly tougher challenge over the course of the season. It would be crazy to want rid of our current front four, but equally we will need additional quality in a number of positions to challenge at the top end of the championship as McGlynn has mentioned. For me those playing should be the best available. No one has an automatic right to be in the starting 11 simply because they’ve won a league below.
  18. Miller and McCracken are decent people imo who had virtually no coaching (never mind managerial) experience. They were thrown in at the deep end into a position they should probably never have been in but took us a lot closer to getting out of this league than many others. The circumstances of Covid, Holt and injuries didn’t help. Personally I don’t have any bad feelings towards them.
  19. The problem was Keena didn’t look interested at all while at the club.
  20. Happy with Hogarth extending, although not sure I’d have given him a two year deal at this stage. I would like a more experienced no 1 next season anyway, with Hogarth as back up.
  21. Wouldn’t mind Hanlon- we will need another option at centre half imo
  22. It’s got to be Morrison by a country mile for me. Already on 21 goals from right wing and could well overtake Lyle Taylor.
  23. Personally I thought Mackie played well. He also showed why McGlynn has been giving players an opportunity- players will pick up injuries and suspensions and you can’t then be throwing in replacements who have never played for 3 months.
  24. I still don’t think a 2 year extension was required in the circumstances for Nesbitt. Clearly he has done well this season but how many times have we been stuck with players on extended deals contributing very little? I’d have given him 1 year with a 1 year option.
