Good to see Davidson start by addressing the problem that doesn’t really exist, while ignoring the problem the rest of the division clocked last March… and which has got a lot worse since then.

I’m sure there’ll be more signings, but, at this stage, it seems rumours of QP’s recovery may have been somewhat exaggerated…

I don't know anything about Welsh so my comments are general.

Are we really signing a player who is frequently injured and is thought of as surplus to requirements at a club that is struggling almost as much as we are and have just lost probably their best player?

Have I missed something, who have we just lost?

I like to think Davidson coming in (ye know, an ACTUAL football manager) will give the players a boost and a bit of positivity. The whole squad has underperformed at points this season (Ferrie excepted) but it’s a clean slate now.

You're absolutely right. Hopefully we'll be better organised, especially at the back, come the weekend. Definitely need a couple of decent additions - squad page showing only 17 outfield players, 2 of whom are out injured.

    Ah, interesting.

it did say QP were wanting to try and wait until a manager came in, so I’m not expecting anything.

Would imagine a managers first port of call is a sit down chat and see what’s going on, unless Thomas has really made his mind up that he wants to leave, for whatever reason.

Would be disappointed if he wanted to leave but given how things have been at the club you could understand it.  Davidson is clearly not going to turn this around overnight so if he really wants to go and Thistle have the cash ........................ but hopefully not.

To be fair, the media are reporting that 3 teams were in for him and that QP were ready to listen to offers.

we know now that United don’t want him and Raith have just signed Turner on loan, so the probability is becoming higher.

Personally, I think the appointment of Davidson might put the kibosh on this one now but we might still try and sign him on a PCA 🤷🏻‍♂️

Pretty sure there is 18 months left on his contract which would prevent any PCA being used at the moment.

Beuker was part of the football staff, so his wages can't be separated from the wider football budget.

The total player and associated staff costs are running at Gretna levels considering QP have a fan base of about 400 supporters.

If QP were operating within their means, their total football budget would be at Stenhousemuir levels. I wouldn't be surprised if Haughey is now funding a wage bill in excess of Motherwell and Livingston.

The latest published accounts do not differentiate between football and non football staff. The total staff costs were £1.5m for 73 staff. For the same period Motherwell reported £4.1m in staff costs rising to £5.2m the following year.  Livingston do not publish staff costs. We may be benefiting from external support (like most clubs are or have done) but we are clearly not spending in excess of Motherwell.

  7. Am pleased with the appointment. He has some experience and played at a decent level. Those attributes alone make it a step up for us.

The cyclical and short term nature of football management mean there is little point in looking too far ahead. Given our predicament success will initially see us staying in the division,  beyond that ........

I know his name has been mentioned to death by a couple of posters but I genuinely wouldn’t be surprised now to see us offering Wotherspoon a contract. Worked under Davidson and if he is indeed the assistant, played with Liam Craig for a good 8-9 years at st Johnstone. Pretty sure his deal at Inverness runs out some point next week. Hope we’re looking into that

Looks like Wotherspoon off to Tannadice according to Daily Record.

  9. Don't have particularly strong views on Davidson but he's not on my absolutely not list. At this stage if he can steady the ship and get us away from the threat of relegation then I'd be happy.

Can't pretend I'd be disappointed if the Thomas rumour was true. However, the way things have been since he extended his contract, I can understand if he wanted to leave. Would like him to stay, on his own terms, and be part of the rebuild otherwise it benefits no-one.

the AGM pack that is now with Members states that the only KPI for the club is success in the league and cups. No mention at all about The Process. It’s all about the Saturdays (except when it’s a Friday).

That there is only one KPI is interesting and hopefully encouraging. I am guessing there was more about the "process" before. If the aim really is to stay in this league, hopefully they back that up with actions before it is too late. When is the AGM?

  11. Today's loss, the lack of attacking threat against United and the inevitable thrashing from our neighbours surely reinforces the need for experience on both the touchline and on the pitch. Disappointed there has been no announcement on the manager and I fear our activity in the January window is going to be restricted to Beuker's targets. We are starting to get cut adrift and with 2 games in the coming week things are unlikely to improve anytime soon.

  12. Deputising again for @TxRover.  Another low scoring week with 2 players netting zero points. The winners, Paisley Ton, Chapelhall chap and mcjameos with 5 points.
