  1. In England they can have a beer in the concourse before ,at half time and after . In Scotland we have the old firm . Surely Smith can muscle a bar into the new stand with a small beer garden behind it ? Still plenty of unused space .
  2. Just got a feeling Logan has signed a pre with one of our rivals ...
  3. 100% bang on . I grew up in a council house south of the river as did all my mates . All of us did just fine . Sometimes school isn't the only place you can learn .
  4. If Scott Brown ever settled for a first 11 in the next few weeks, then add Logan at the expense of Armartey to the above and that'll be his best team Id reckon .
  5. I'd be giving Fraser all the minutes we can until the window , then out on loan , while being replaced by a new quality second striker . Assess Fraser at the end of the season .
  6. I think you'd want to swap Syla and Young round in that line up but yeah worth a go . The problem with 442 containing two wingers and two strikers is that the team needs to keep the ball and the wingers and strikers must be on it . We struggle to keep the ball and as was said so far our second striker choices haven't done it at all . It would be great to bring Cammy Smith back from England at Christmas , only got six months left on his contract and not getting huge game time . Talking about Smiths the other one, Liam, is in a similar situation at Cheltenham . Would love to see both back ,but maybe too much to ask at this point .
  7. Both ....Getting the prize money in the next round forgives a poor winning performance in the previous round .Taken in isolation . If however making a habit of scraping through is the bigger picture then pressure will mount as its not good enough for a full time professional club to continually struggle with part time lower league teams ....
  8. I'd say it was more in common with last season's scrape throughs against Pollock and Elgin . Which really isn't good enough as a bigger picture . A one off yes but a trend of near things against lower and non league opposition isn't good enough .
  9. Best post on in the last 24 hours , standing alone amongst the disappointment of Ayr United getting into the next round of the cup . wow .
  10. Ayr United isn't the basket case some on Pie and Bovril would have you believe , our new £1 million plus stand will be ready for next season , plans have been approved by the council for another building , on the stand/away end corner , housing a gym and community rooms for the local area to use , the car park has been done and the Hub has been up and running for a while now ,pouring its profits into the club coffers . The new stand will quadruple our hospitality income , it will also earn non Saturday monies doing business meetings , 21' birthdays etc etc . Rumours abound that the club will be buying the land behind the ground when the price is right and putting in training pitches and a home for the reserves and ladies team . On top of that we sold a player in the summer for a reported fee of £300,000 ,which has to be part of our business model . On the community side we have done outreach to the local schools etc ,open training sessions ,fun days and all that good stuff . So really not in a bad place off the pitch . On the pitch though is where things are not in the perfect fit category at this point , a young and fragile team is what we have at the moment . However I am confident we'll still be in the Championship next season . So in the summer the whole playing operation will come under severe scrutiny , the amount of changes made will be a pointer to our direction of travel for the 24/25 season . We'll just have to wait an see .
  11. From what I saw of Rovers last season they had a pretty good team and played nice stuff , but they had no punch up front . They have sorted that out in the summer and brought in some good player . Players that we couldn't get i.e Mullen . Not that I'm complaining on that one as Murphy is just as good . Ian Murray has been a good appointment but was sacked at St Mirren and couldn't get Airdrie up . So very much a chipped cup as they say, but it worked . Ayr fans should bear that in mind the next time we're looking for a new manager . Sometimes guys are just a perfect fit regardless of their CV's . We haven't god all our shit in a pile yet as everyone knows but for sure its coming . Every month something is done on the infrastructure front ,all of which will bring in sustainable revenue . Eventually the perfect storm will occur . Sometimes you just have to wait .
