Always nice to see supporters of other clubs look on at yours enviously. Apologies this is probably a bit of a ramble.

There's been massive changes at Raith both on the pitch and off. It would be easy to say the new owners have just  chucked money at it but it simply isn't true and I'd be surprised if the budget is that far ahead of Ayr's and Partick's. This summer we've seen Brad Spencer, Jamie MacDonald and Tom Lang all leave who were on the now infamous McGlynn contracts with massive rises year on year. The board have also said that shifting out Ethan Ross on loan has balanced the books. It seems like McGlynn was given free reign under the previous regime to spend what he wanted and was a major concern when the new ownership took over. Even last year the budget was probably higher when you include the likes of Berra in the mix. Last summer Benedictus moved to Dunfermline for what the man himself said was life changing money. We've lost out on a few targets as well this year due to not being able to/not wanting to match wages such as Stanger who ended up at Ayr.

There's also been a whole revamp of the club behind the scenes as has been alluded. We've got people who know what they're doing in the right roles. Our commercial revenue has gone up and if rumours are to be believed, we've already surpassed last seasons total on that side of things. Our social media output is getting record levels of engagement and is a level above most others, if not all in the division. They are providing outreach to the community which has been lacking for years - the free under 12 tickets a massive win. Even on the pitch, a lot of players have insisted that John Potter was a big factor in them signing and his role allows Murray to purely focus with on the pitch affairs (which won't suit every manager).

I don't think Ayr are a million miles away from being able to do what the Raith board are doing as you've got a passionate supporter as chairman who has already realised some of his deficiencies by hiring Mathie, it would probably just take a few more astute hires off the field. You'd imagine that side of things will be a priority once the stand is built. Obviously winning more games is an easy win to bring in a feelgood factor mind.

Tl;dr: there's been a load of changes at Raith on and off the field. Don't see why Ayr can't do the same.

Ayr United isn't the basket case some on Pie and Bovril would have you believe , our new £1 million plus stand will be ready for next season , plans  have been approved by the council for another building , on the stand/away end corner , housing a gym and community rooms for the local area to use , the car park has been done and the Hub has been up and running for a while now ,pouring its profits into the club coffers . The new stand will quadruple our hospitality income , it will also earn non Saturday monies doing business meetings , 21' birthdays etc etc . Rumours abound that the club will be buying the land behind the ground when the price is right and putting in training pitches and a home for the reserves and ladies team . On top of that we sold a player in the summer for a reported fee of £300,000 ,which has to be part of our business model . On the community side we have done outreach to the local schools etc ,open training sessions ,fun days and all that good stuff . So really not in a bad place off the pitch . On the pitch though is where things are not in the perfect fit category at this point , a young and fragile team is what we have at the moment . However I am confident we'll still be in the Championship next season  . So in the summer the whole playing operation will come under severe scrutiny , the amount of changes made will be a pointer to our direction of travel for the 24/25 season . We'll just have to wait an see .

What’s Raiths secret this season? They seemed pretty run of the mill whenever I saw them last year. Looked a very good outfit tonight.

From what I saw of Rovers last season they had a pretty good team and played nice stuff , but they had no punch up front . They have sorted that out in the summer and brought in some good player . Players that we couldn't get i.e Mullen . Not that I'm complaining on that one as Murphy is just as good . Ian Murray has been a good appointment but was sacked at St Mirren and couldn't get Airdrie up . So very much a chipped cup as they say, but it worked . Ayr fans should bear that in mind the next time we're looking for a new manager . Sometimes guys are just a perfect fit regardless of their CV's .

We haven't god all our shit in a pile yet as everyone knows but for sure its coming . Every month something  is done on the infrastructure front ,all of which will bring in sustainable revenue . Eventually the perfect storm will occur . Sometimes you just have to wait .

My recollection was the family stand was built when Barr was chairman but I could be wrong. Might have been when he was on the board prior to be being chairman and he funded it?

The overhead shots of the ground look terrific and it’s noticeable that even the surrounding areas like the car park look better than I can ever remember them looking - certainly better than the recreation of the Somme battlefield the car park resembled until being resurfaced.

Might just be my OCD but would love to see the main stand extended to run the full length of that side of the ground although would make no sense to do it.

It’s not kissing Smith’s arse to say he’s made the most significant improvement to Somerset in anyone still drawing breath’s lifetime even if the tight arsed cider drinkers in the support are loathe to do so.

I think there is much more to come as well .

Genuinely wouldn't bother re-signing Musonda next season.  He's been a complete waste of a wage.  He'll hardly kick a ball between now and January till he's off to the AFCON and he will come back and pick up another injury.

I think a lot of players will leave in the summer . We will be at the crossroad point by then . Question will be tredd water of push on .

Our midfield don't support high up the pitch so it's been pretty easy for defenders to pick up a goal hanger. Thats why McKenzie does better, he is more mobile than Rose and more intelligent in game management. Amartey should suit us better than Rose and maybe more than McKenzie to partner Dowds.

I think Bryden should get another chance , maybe three games beside big Dowds . He seems to have no problem finishing chances , maybe not the complete centre forward yet but playing either side of Dowds may suit him more than being the target .

I feel like I am watching Ahui through cracks in my fingers at times. He constantly looks like he is tripping over his own feet when he’s on the ball.

Defensively he has been ooookaaaayyy apart from having the best seat in the house for Particks second. The last two games, Chalmers has been quiet and I think it’s because he has to be close to him to take the ball from Ahui before he tries anything.

The best thing I can say about Rose is, we aren’t deploying him correctly or his abilities aren’t suited to our style. But the last two games he has fluffed his lines in some of the easiest forward play he should be able to handle.

Young, Syla and Senga are all showing their worth now and we need one of the forwards to do the same.

This .....However Logan is getting double maned these days . Which I suppose gives Murphy more room which is fine .

Been one of those seasons where very little has gone well and everything’s a struggle.

Just got to suck it up and make sure we don’t go down - which would be catastrophic!!!

Imagine our first home league game, opening the new stand with Cove Rangers our guests!!!

Really need a bit of a shuffle of the cards in January as it looks like no amount of coaching is going to help some of those guys unfortunately

I don't see us doing much in the window unless some pretty decent long term options land in our lap .This team has mid table to fourth written all over it . Can't see us burning any of next seasons budget on more of the same .

I could make up loads of stuff to prove a point, or I could look at the facts and see that Ayr have conceded on average 1.8 goals a game.

Much better than 2 a game, silly me, what am I like?

hhahhahahahhahhaha yup . However where you do have a point is we are going to struggle tomorrow night . Regardless of Thistle's selection issues .

  9. Queens will come down and try to play . That suits us much more ,should be a decent game with a better chance of a positive result then yesterday . For the younger posters on here , our current place in Scottish football can be glassed as "all right" , there has been much worse over the last few decades . When McCall came in we were staring L2 right in the face and we were also part time . A little before that time we were getting whacked at home by Cowdenbeath and Forfar . Compared to that our current position is lofty . The good news is we are in transit and our destination is the Premiership , we all just need to remain calm ,it will happen . Enjoy the journey fella's bumps and all . Teams like Morton we can forget about all together very shortly .

  10. Think we have to all understand that we just ain't good enough to win every week , its going to be an up and down season , hopefully we can get our shit together for the cup to a degree . The championship will be won by Dundee United , Thistle and Rovers will occupy the next two slots . The rest is much of a muchness with Morton going down and the rest scrapping it out to avoid one play off slot and trying to get into the other play off slot .

Pleased to see Dowds has done well so far at Ayr. I thought after watching our game, where Ayr had plenty of the ball but no end product that he could be an astute signing. So far, that has been the case.

I don't see him coming back to Firhill as he is down the pecking order and not particularly suitable for the way Thistle line-up.

Would be very glad to take him of your hands at Christmas on a full time basis . However that would mean he would line up against Aero a couple of times . I doubt Thistle would allow that .
