Is Reading not likely to play further forward than Maxwell? I was sure that Reading was played at LM for the u21s.
He did play left mid for the U21's , so it is possible that could be the plan . Or given Maxwell's goals return it could be vice versa .

I wonder if he sticks with a 4-3-3 type formation whether O’Connor would take the place of Salkeld out wide or if he would play as part of the central midfield - almost as a ten.
Get this idea out your head ,Cammy will be first name on the teamsheet .

No idea, that may have been Todorov, Smith, Cochrane…..Kelly…..who knows any more.
Shankland was flashing his knickers to potential suitors a couple of weeks ago, Maybe Smith is going to treat us.
Or more likely, it’s a player that has since decided to sign for another club.
It was Smith .
McGinn chose another club
Toderov kind of did the same

Reckon you could match his 4k a week at United?
Actually I do feel in the not too distant future we will go large for the correct marque type signing . Who knows maybe LSA at 30 years old ...

The above is from the squad list page before we signed Maxwell.
2 Goalkeepers
9 Defenders (10 if you add Maxwell)
5 Midfielders
3 Strikers
Pretty sure my comment stands about being overstocked in defense relative to midfielders and strikers
Hewitt , McAlister and Maxwell will all feature mainly in midfield .. Stop cooking the books .

With 3/4 additions in the right places it would be fairly well balanced but we're overstocked in defence at the moment relative to the midfield and strikers
Rubbish .

So that suggests Harrogate are going to get first option on him then?
Judging by the time line we may be beyond their option .

I really hope we get out of this shitpit league quickly because I dunno if I can stomach more than a season of this horrific patter

From what has been said on here hewitt has impressed in the league cup so far, so I think it would be foolish to send him out on loan.
I'd much prefer to give the lad a chance to see what he can do. We're limited with options as it is.Hewitt from what I've seen is now ready to be in the pool much at the same level as McKenzie .

Thought I saw a couple of new faces at training today
So given that one of this couple was James Maxwell and the Burnley boys probably come in a brace ,then who it the other guys that was at training lightly to be .?

Adding Muirhead to the midfield adds a goal threat.
Scary.
I'd be fibbing if I said I wasn't a bit disappointed with our striking cover at this point .

Don’t really get it. If we’re playing 3 at the back, how do we accommodate Reading and Maxwell on the left and Houston and Salkeld on the right? If we’re not going to 3 at the back, why do we have 4/5 centre backs on our books?
Maybe we plan to be flexible .

We had a bench with 5 kids on it against Hamilton, even if we sign 3 more players this week he will still be in and around the first team, if we are playing both Maxwell and Reading then Ecripont will get game time based on 3 players and 2 positions.
I get the impression that Maxwell will play further up the park than Reading . Room for both in the team .

When are the ties due to be played? If it’s after 9th August and therefore full crowds then I’d also want Celtic.
Think it could be the 14th as we don't seem to have a league fixture that day .
