  1. Just saying how it is. We’re bottom of the league with a -11 goal difference. There’s hardly any good to be made out of that. Unless of course you are a happy clapper?
  2. I’m fairly certain McCabe was aiming to win the league? There IS no outright winner this season. I agree, we have the smallest budget but the disparity between ourselves and Ayr United is just not same between ourselves and Dundee United et al so I stand by my point that it is or at least was wide open. Whether or not you think I’m being too liberal is beside the fact that McCabe and the club’s recruitment has been very poor. I’d go as far as saying it’s a mid table league 1 squad at best. We did very well last year. Did we push above our weight in terms of budget? Absolutely but our success was based on the playing style of the team which was facilitated by the players. McCabe wants the same style of play but just doesn’t have the players this season and that is on him. The 4th place finish and the challenge cup success of last season have raised the standards. We as fans now have greater expectations and rightly so.
  3. When do we panic? Conceding a late goal like we did on Saturday is sometimes enough for a team to go into free fall and I think that’s just what we’ll do. League 1 here we come. I hold McCabe responsible. Regardless of injuries he’s not recruited well nor is he willing to stray from his “philosophy” of giving away goals for nothing. Disappointed in the club during a season where the actual LEAGUE TITLE was there for the taking. Shame.
  4. The narrative on Facebook and twitter that “we were in league 1 for ten years so be thankful to be where we are” is utter shite. The standards have been raised and so we as fans are obviously going to expect similar to or better than last seasons performances. I just can’t get behind McCabe’s signings in a window where we surely would have had the biggest budget in years following a successful campaign last season. If we go down this year it’ll be down to the total lack of experience we have in the team and I will forever pin that on McCabe. I’m still willing to give him time to get a few more boys in but they need to be signings that can have an instant impact (like McInory).
  5. I really don’t know where the team goes from here. I think it’s pretty clear that we are miles off of where we were last year. How much of that is down the fact that the squad is brand new, I’m unsure but the “replacements” are not nearly as effective as those who departed. Even thinking of Lyall last year. A young and inexperienced player who came in and done a job and then some. Compare him to the likes of McGrattan and it’s night and day. There’s example of that all over the pitch. You wonder if the club have been too reserved in their approach to signing players. I get the sustainability of the club is the most important thing but the league was wide open this year (or thought to be so) so why not chuck a few extra £’s into the squad. Doing the opposite could be even more damaging to the club. Three strikers out the door and 2 in. It’s just so poor. Big test for McCabe on Saturday. If it’s another poor perform coupled with a defeat then I think it’s time to worry.
  6. That goal kick routine is nothing short of embarrassing. A part of me actually wanted us to concede from it to show McCabe how easy it is to counteract which we very nearly did. There wasn’t any sign of a game plan or structure in that second half. We looked like a league 2 team at best. I have been very critical of McCabe and will continue to be so. It is ultimately down to him as a manager to sign players that are good enough for this level and that can play his style and he’s fallen short on both. However, my biggest issue with Rhys is the players let leave; Todorv, Fordyce (McCabes fault), Ballantyne and the list goes on and on and on. I think a lot of that is down to his stubbornness which is only to our detriment as a team. He’s on a shaky peg for me
  7. As you have probably noticed, a few Airdrieonians “fans” get all defensive whenever the club is accused of being far right. Whilst I understand that nobody wants their club or fellow supporters being tarnished with the same brush, you simply cannot defend the bigoted behaviour of some of the “support”. Deflection is part of the problem and pointing out other incidents at other clubs in a tit for tat pie and bovril battle isn’t going to help stamp this bigoted lot out. If you see any sort of far right, racist display/ banner/ gesture etc, will you please just report it to a steward and then follow up with an email to the club? It’s literally as easy as that. Stop defending racists.
  8. The club have done extremely well to build us back up after a long stint in league one. If we do go down this season then it’s totally unforgivable given how well we did last season. The league is anyone’s this year which should have been an incentive for the club to really back McCabe and go for the title but instead we’ve once again chosen the cheaper options when it comes to recruitment. I really hope this is just a blip but I can’t see us turning this around with this squad. So disappointing
  9. I think the reason we’re all so disappointed is because we know how good we can be. We were excellent last season and so naturally the fans expectations go up. Unfortunately the club and McCabe haven’t met those expectations so far with performances or signings. You would have thought that of all the seasons to have a proper go and try and get to the premiership this would have been the one. This would mean bringing in a mixture of experience and youth (look at Ayr for example). But no, we signed another bunch of unknown quantities who are just not good enough for this level whilst letting go of McGill, Todorov and Fordyce et al. I have a lot of respect for the young lads that come in but to be relying on Gavin Gallagher to make things happen is just a sorry state to be in. I understand that we have an injury ‘crisis’ and I also understand that the league has just started but there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel. The panic signings of Badley Morgan and Graham are symptomatic of a club who just want to chance it instead of getting proper backups in. I thought we would have learned our lesson with the Josh Rae/ Hemphrey situation last year? But no. This leads into another point. The club feels it’s forbidden to let us paying fans know what is going on with injuries. I’ve seen fans say that A. wilson was not playing as a precaution, then he was out for 2 weeks and now he needs an operation. Hard for fans to feel optimistic when we have no idea what’s happening with our players. It was totally embarrassing yesterday. Watching a team who are usually so self assured look so weak and tired. 13 goals in 3 games, unforgivable
  10. McCabe has a serious inability to mix things up when the set up clearly isn’t working. The Ayr game and today’s game highlighted that further. He’s stubborn. Playing Wilson up front on his own is criminal. You’d think McCabe would realise after 3 games of pure shite I fear we’re regressing and at a rapid rate. League one is a serious prospect even this early on. Get it together McCabe.
