There was Henry McLeish in Scotland
Wild that he managed to juggle managing a devolved government and Hibs at the same time

Not including loon ball candidates is poor form, that's what I'm here for.
Just for you then:
Reform UK: a meteorologist who retired to D&G a few years ago from England and is complaining he pays too much income tax. Move back to London then wtf
Lib Dem: councillor who thinks he has a chance bless his wee cotton socks
Green: genuinely the only detail on her profile is that she likes custard creams

Too many candidates in the Dumfries and Galloway constituency to fit in one screenshot, but the ones for the big three are:
John Cooper, CON: journo who was previously a media relations advisor to outgoing constituency MP and current Scottish Secretary Alister Jack
Tracey Little, SNP: former Lord Provost of Dumfries and been a councillor since 2017
James Wallace, LAB: not a clue, but he’s Dumfries born and bred
Current prediction is 29.8% LAB, 29.4% CON, 26.1% SNP

What I want to know is why he’s decided that this is the time to have a GE. Does he think he’s done something amazing recently and the tide has turned?
If the Reform UK support is as large as social media has us believe, we'll get a hung parliament and nobody wanting to enter into a coalition with anyone else.
Right now, knowing the choice is between the blue Tories and the red ones, I think my choice will be to go to Switzerland and get that injection

and it would be harder to attract the likes of Messi or M'Bappe to play here.
The same Messi that is currently at an MLS club?

How so? I keep hearing this but how many Scottish Refs are in Germany? How many Swedish?
There are 31 UEFA Elite category referees and Collum is (now was) on there, but how many big games has he had in the last twelve months? The Swedish fella was just promoted to Elite this season after doing the U20 World Cup Final. You’d therefore assume the FIFA listed referees get VAR training as part of being on the list.
if you’re interested, there are two Scottish refs in the next category down: Beaton and Walsh

If we acknowledge that it’s entirely political, it’s worrying that Ireland got 10 from us and Israel got 12

the "diddy outfits" of Whitehill Vale of Leithen and Ed Uni play against former strong junior clubs. It's always going to be difficult for the relegated East Region LL side.
Add Hawick and Preston to that. Not a single relegated side from the east is even in the EoS Premier.
Also telling that Threave went down, were largely a top two side in the South, but can’t get out of West Division 3

Forget the West.
They ain't interested in the LL.
Out of the three presumed tier 6 winners (Beith, Broxburn and Dalbeattie), only two can enter the playoff (I think) and for once the South team might not get trounced.
In terms of the other playoff, Stranraer and Clyde both drew today while Bonnyrigg lost. So the three teams are separated by three points with two games remaining. Assuming they beat Buckie, do you think EK will fancy themselves against all of them?

Diane Abbott: MP denied chance to speak during Commons race debate
In a PMQs dominated by comments made by a Tory donor about her, Diane Abbott rose at least 46 times to ask a question but did not get to speak. Funny how the Speaker could “use his discretion” the other week but not today

I don’t know what point you’re trying to make here.
You’re saying that mid-range alcohol will be pretty much unaffected? I’ll take your word for the prices.
a cheap bottle of Vodka will now cost the same as Absolut so people that would buy cheaper vodka will now be paying more?
I assume you’re not saying that 20p on top of an £18 purchase is the problem here?
Should have elaborated, apologies.
At the moment the own brand 37.5% vodkas are £13.13. Absolut, a 38% mid-range vodka, is currently £22 or £18 with a Clubcard, so roughly two thirds and one third more than the minimum respectively. If Absolut remains the same percentage more expensive than the minimum as it currently is, the Clubcard price will be 25 quid which is heading towards “fancy-schmancy, am I f**k paying that” levels.
More aimed at the person you were originally replying to, to say that it might not be as disproportionate as one thinks because I for one will be hopping over to the big ASDA in Carlisle if I’m that desperate for a half

Some people refer to policies that disproportionately affect the poorest as punching down…
A 70cl of Absolut vodka (38% ABV and mid-range, not “scummy”) is currently £18 in Tesco, and the minimum price will be £18.20 when MUP comes into effect, so it’s transcended that argument.

Both sides of the coin here.
Just came across a snippet of Jeopardy! UK and all of the comments are abusing a trans woman who is a contestant. She’s replying to them all bamming them up and they’re getting even more ragin, fair play.
Conversely, the aforementioned contestant on Jeopardy! UK is clearly a seasoned quizzer because she’s been on Mastermind and Only Connect before, and she’s a smug b*****d about it.

A lot of seppos on TikTok have latched onto “mind you” and butcher it. First off they’re emphasising it as “MIND you”, and secondly they use it to mean “remember”.

Not inquiry related but I was pondering this in the shower this morning: now that testing isn’t widespread, there’s a strong chance that I’ll have “had” COVID (once) fewer times in my life than I had chicken pox in the year 1999

Been pondering this one since I first read about it.
If the dad has died the same day he last spoke to Social Work to arrange a visit for the following week then the outcome was unavoidable, we can all go off the radar during the proverbial perineum in between Christmas/New Year, however it took too long for them to be found surely?
If it’s not his first heart attack of the year then there should have been alarm bells ringing when he didn’t answer the door, and further alarm bells when they’ve apparently contacted other family members and they’ve not heard from them either; how no party has followed up from there is baffling, surely someone else at least has a key?
Don’t know what Social/Police protocols are for this sort of thing, but if they were followed correctly then they are severely lacking

Because the song is called “Gecko”, I didn’t realise Becky Hill was singing “Get close with the lights down low”. Thought she was telling us about some horny lizards

Just passed the luckiest b*****ds ever.
A timber wagon has pulled out to turn right onto an A road, and a Vauxhall Crossland ended up plowing into the side of the trailer. Either the car was trundling along at a sensible speed given it’s dark and rainingor they pulled off the emergency stop of a lifetime, because trailer only went as far as the end of the dashboard, no ambulances in attendance and all occupants standing at the side of the road.
Police only shut the road for forty minutes

Just home from Frankfurt, let’s just say thank f**k for double pints in novelty cups

Anyone going to Frankfurt next weekend and, more importantly, know what the German washing up liquid is called? To not cause chaos at the fountain of *fairy* tales would be a massive missed opportunity imo
In all seriousness I’m really looking forward to it, even if I’m sure we’re going to get scudded

Saddened to hear about Dean Watson’s incident last night, hope he has a speedy recovery
