  1. Add Hawick and Preston to that. Not a single relegated side from the east is even in the EoS Premier. Also telling that Threave went down, were largely a top two side in the South, but can’t get out of West Division 3
  2. Out of the three presumed tier 6 winners (Beith, Broxburn and Dalbeattie), only two can enter the playoff (I think) and for once the South team might not get trounced. In terms of the other playoff, Stranraer and Clyde both drew today while Bonnyrigg lost. So the three teams are separated by three points with two games remaining. Assuming they beat Buckie, do you think EK will fancy themselves against all of them?
  3. Can’t decide who I want to get it up more: Netanyahu or Eran Zahavi
  4. Diane Abbott: MP denied chance to speak during Commons race debate In a PMQs dominated by comments made by a Tory donor about her, Diane Abbott rose at least 46 times to ask a question but did not get to speak. Funny how the Speaker could “use his discretion” the other week but not today
  5. Should have elaborated, apologies. At the moment the own brand 37.5% vodkas are £13.13. Absolut, a 38% mid-range vodka, is currently £22 or £18 with a Clubcard, so roughly two thirds and one third more than the minimum respectively. If Absolut remains the same percentage more expensive than the minimum as it currently is, the Clubcard price will be 25 quid which is heading towards “fancy-schmancy, am I f**k paying that” levels. More aimed at the person you were originally replying to, to say that it might not be as disproportionate as one thinks because I for one will be hopping over to the big ASDA in Carlisle if I’m that desperate for a half
  6. A 70cl of Absolut vodka (38% ABV and mid-range, not “scummy”) is currently £18 in Tesco, and the minimum price will be £18.20 when MUP comes into effect, so it’s transcended that argument.
  7. Both sides of the coin here. Just came across a snippet of Jeopardy! UK and all of the comments are abusing a trans woman who is a contestant. She’s replying to them all bamming them up and they’re getting even more ragin, fair play. Conversely, the aforementioned contestant on Jeopardy! UK is clearly a seasoned quizzer because she’s been on Mastermind and Only Connect before, and she’s a smug b*****d about it.
  8. A lot of seppos on TikTok have latched onto “mind you” and butcher it. First off they’re emphasising it as “MIND you”, and secondly they use it to mean “remember”.
  9. Not inquiry related but I was pondering this in the shower this morning: now that testing isn’t widespread, there’s a strong chance that I’ll have “had” COVID (once) fewer times in my life than I had chicken pox in the year 1999
  10. Been pondering this one since I first read about it. If the dad has died the same day he last spoke to Social Work to arrange a visit for the following week then the outcome was unavoidable, we can all go off the radar during the proverbial perineum in between Christmas/New Year, however it took too long for them to be found surely? If it’s not his first heart attack of the year then there should have been alarm bells ringing when he didn’t answer the door, and further alarm bells when they’ve apparently contacted other family members and they’ve not heard from them either; how no party has followed up from there is baffling, surely someone else at least has a key? Don’t know what Social/Police protocols are for this sort of thing, but if they were followed correctly then they are severely lacking
  11. So not only did Gretna abstain, they didn’t attend. Fair play to them for staying out of business that won’t be theirs next season
  12. Because the song is called “Gecko”, I didn’t realise Becky Hill was singing “Get close with the lights down low”. Thought she was telling us about some horny lizards
  13. Just passed the luckiest b*****ds ever. A timber wagon has pulled out to turn right onto an A road, and a Vauxhall Crossland ended up plowing into the side of the trailer. Either the car was trundling along at a sensible speed given it’s dark and rainingor they pulled off the emergency stop of a lifetime, because trailer only went as far as the end of the dashboard, no ambulances in attendance and all occupants standing at the side of the road. Police only shut the road for forty minutes
  14. Just home from Frankfurt, let’s just say thank f**k for double pints in novelty cups
  15. Anyone going to Frankfurt next weekend and, more importantly, know what the German washing up liquid is called? To not cause chaos at the fountain of *fairy* tales would be a massive missed opportunity imo In all seriousness I’m really looking forward to it, even if I’m sure we’re going to get scudded
  16. Saddened to hear about Dean Watson’s incident last night, hope he has a speedy recovery
  17. The Dalry keeper timed his winning save perfectly and still got penalised, would have been very interesting if the retake went in
  18. At 28 I know I have donks ahead of me (not that it’s guaranteed), but I keep my bar really low: Have a salary that starts with a 3. Assuming it keeps up with inflation from there on in, I’ll be “fine” financially. Be mortgage free by 60, then I can hopefully do what I want in terms of work. Do one thing that will allow me to say “I did that” when I meet my maker. No clue what it will be, could be anything from saving a life to being one of the chauffeurs that do the road trip from London to Disneyland for sick kids - I want to get that sense of fulfilment from life so I can live and die in the knowledge that I made a positive impact on the world.
  19. We’ve been under the same roof for three years, we have a joint account for most of the joint bills which we put an equal amount into. She earns about 30% more than me so pays for the weekly shop and a couple of other silly little things. Beyond that we piss our own money up the wall as we see fit, and have separate savings at a similar interest rate. I have a decent chunk set aside which will make up the lions share of big house renovations like the kitchen and the bathroom when we eventually get around to it. My parents are/were slightly different: they have a joint account but I believe it’s only paid into by my dad because he has always been the breadwinner, my mum has always worked part time and is tight as f**k so has years of sweetie money in her account. They’re retired and mortgage free so they only really have utilities, roof tax, food and trips to the same hotel in Benidorm every few months to worry about, the rest is sat in their respective bank accounts racking up interest for them to spend as they please on over 8.5 corners
  20. He put a fair effort into trying to muster some more activity in the South forum, and any “trolling” was probably just trying to get a discussion going.
  21. The Petershill player really thought he was doing something for that second red card “A Blantyre player just accidentally kicked the corner flag out so I’m going to remove this one deliberately”
  22. There was a building in Dumfries that’s been empty for over a decade, slates were falling from the roof onto the road so the council shut the road (100 yards from their headquarters). They got someone in to raze all but the front ground floor facade and handed the owner the bill. Road was shut for weeks upon weeks but it was a better alternative to someone getting panned by debris edit to clarify that it is/was on the BARR, presumably due to its town centre location This is the bit that gets me the most; fifteen appliances are there and they each have a crew presumably, how many lives does that represent? Some of whom are “going to work” and other that will be retained, not that it makes a difference
  23. I got a parking notice for three pointing before going through the barriers at Newcastle Airport, but was told by everyone I know to simply ignore it. I’ve just had a letter from a “legal” company to chase it, have I been wilfully sent up the Clyde on a banana boat?
  24. I thought the boy from Stranraer was scared of Nithsdale; why is he sending McKenzie off for nothing? Other than Rod Williamson’s boy nobody is as bad as Sutherland, he just hates NW
  25. Jota came on just before half time tonight and scored his first goal for Al-Ittihad, so he’s not been released yet
