In 2022 this shouldn’t be a landmark moment for Scottish football, but it really is. Between this gentleman and the two referees from a few months ago, I hope other men can take inspiration from their stories and be comfortable and, if they wish, open about who they are. Sounds like he and his club have considered how to publish it with sensitivity and pride which is brilliant, and if it helps even one person then he’s a hero in my eyes.

It was a pre season game against someone like Whitehill Welfare, no friendlies are listed on the website for whatever reason so I can’t recall for sure the who or the when. Looks like the Gretna manager resigned after today’s defeat to Cowdenbeath, obviously a poor start to the season leaving them in an early fight with Dalbeattie to avoid dropping into the South.
