Sportsound has become a dumbed down magazine show akin to Superscoreboard.

Im sure they've done their focus groups who all agree this is what the public want.

But listening to Mikey Stewart disgreeing with whatever anyone else says is extremely tiresome and a total turn off.

Quality public broadcasting, it is not....

Used to quite like Mikey Stewart as he was wiling to discuss topics such as the sectarian singing at Ran Celt games. Also gave good comment on games from the players point of view on commentary. However the current version comes across as just arguing for arguings sake, almost as it is a policy decision by the programmes directors. Did see him covering for McCoist or Sutton in the BT Scottish football preview show once and he had a nice selection of malts in the background so def has some good points.

Italy steal it at the extra end, Scotland trying too many push backs from distance that missed.

Didn't see the 3rd place match but disappointing to be going into the 10th end with a three lead and lose three, then have the hammer in the extra end and miss out. Maybe ran out of steam after semi.

Watching final and was 5 all in 10th end with Canada sitting 3 Sweden take last shot.  Edin drops it by about 10cm for his and Sweden's 7th word title. 9 ly loss was to Scotland although Edin was rested for that one.

  3. Tom English rightly calling out that the Billy boys will be sung tomorrow and the SPFL, SFA, police etc will do or ay nothing.  Think Michael Stewart was agreeing with him but before it could get a bit more interesting McIntyre moved on to another subject. There are times I despair of this country.

  4. Scotland through to semis against Canada after 8 3 win over USA. Its at 15.00 today but no sign of BBC showing on iPlayer. Olympic Channel at Olympics.cpm says they are showing both semis and the final but not sure if free or not.

As things stand Scotland (3rd) would play USA (6th) in play off at 8am tomorrow for the right to play Canada in the semi-final. However, if Canada lose to Switzerland (who have just failed to get to play-offs) and Scotland beat Sweden tonight we would be straight into the semi (unlikely)

Watched the Swiss, Germany match and the Swiss had a good chance to win with final stone but just over hit it. Hope the go for it tonight against Canada as a thank you to their fans.

I actually subscribed to the curling channel for this tournament only - cost £15.

Checked this out and was a 7 day option for 4.99 Canadian Dollars so took it. Watched Scotland last night and just now. Scotland 5 4 up on Norway after 5 ends.

Goes to extra end and Scotland edge Norway 9 8.

One win should be enough to get in the play-offs.  Norway and USA can both only get to 7 wins (which Scotland already have) Indeed Italy on 6 wins have to play SUI, GER and NOR. Win our matches and we can secure a semi spot or possibly top the table

Thanks. My IT capabilities are limited and would struggle to come up with this.

  8. Scotland 5 Netherlands 3 leaves Scotland with 7 wins and 2 losses with 3 games left and sitting 3rd in table. Unfortunately all hard games. Switzerland (6 and 2 and 4th) at 18.00 tonight. Then Norway (4 and 5 and 7th) at 8.00 and Sweden (9 and 0 and top) tomorrow at 18.00. Swedish one is on BBC iPlayer.

Top two automatically go to semis with 3rd v 6th and 4th v 5th play offs to see with play them. Sweden and Canada (8 and 1) already through. With Germany and Italy both at 6 and 3 it's going to be very tight. Beat Switzerland and Norway will be enough but a big ask.

Wish I'd checked about the £15 for tournament offer as I'm using the iPlayer and Canadian channel TSN for games via Firestick app.

  9. Watching Scotland in the Men's Worlds v Japan on the BBC iPlayer just now. Their 7th match, 5 wins 2 defeats,  of which so far only 3 shown and only 1 more of the remaining due to be shown. As one of the few winter games we excel in you would think all games would be shown.

    I think you'll find it's 600 tickets 😜

    98% true.

While I agree Utd should clarify the reason for the reduced allocation  bar a late change of mind it is what it is. Ensures the Rovers management and support will be well up for it on the day which may come back to haunt Utd. Oh and all the best to ICT tomorrow!

Further to the post above, I'm not sure which is less likely... Tories apologising for anything, or them agreeing to pay compensation.  "We'd love to pay up but taxpayers can't afford it..."

Won't just be the Tories as Labour, despite their MPs backing the WASPI movement, are not going to rush into compensation payments if/when they get back in power.

  12. I can't make games these days but have bought a ticket and will also buy a stream if there is one. Lewis is someone who richly deserves a testimonial and I hope he has a wonderful evening, and rovers go on to get promotion so he can eventually play in the "big" league where he undoubtedly would have been but for such horrendous back luck with injuries.

Can I just thank the OP for this thread and its regular references to Hibs’ collapse under Tel Butcher, which remains arguably my favourite sporting memory of all time.

Was in Hospitality before the Hibs Raith Rovers cup game that season and Terry Butcher was very complimentary to the Rovers before the game saying his coaching spell there restored his faith in football but that Hibs were on the up and we had no chance. Let him know I had £20 on  Rovers win and he said he'd come back for a drink on me if it came in. We won, he didn't come back and the slow decline to relegation started. Get a bit of the same vibe with Warnock and Aberbeen so may put £20 on Killie this weekend.
