Will be brilliant. Bonnyrigg will be favourites but certainly wouldn’t be ruling out Broxburn or Penicuik either especially with so much as stale.

Exactly, even better that Penicuik and Broxburn meet first - should be a very close game. Big crowd too.

It's down to the SFA, all the likely EoS play-off contenders are either licenced or waiting on the SFA's decision.  There wont be any club involved in the play-off who dont have a licence and haven't applied.

I agree, but I’m almost certain that Bonnyrigg will emerge victorious and if they can give  a firm commitment to a date re floodlight installation (and essentially therefore a club license) sometime over the summer hols, then I’d be absolutely astonished if the SFA veto’d that promotion.  (Although where this blind faith comes from is anyone’s guess lol)

I was certainty of the believe threave were 'relegated' with it known they would have kept their place if they re-applied for the vacant spot.

I think it could be possible that if no EoS/SoS licenced champion then there will be 2 spots available by application. With WW being a certain and very likely successful applicant for 1 of those.

I’d be shocked if the EOS Champ wasn’t licensed.

Cheers. Lots of hard work from a lot of people around the club. Hoping we get through it ok.

As an aside, Given I've written/updated a lot of policy docs for our website the last few months, I'd say that's where to look for potential applicants. emoji846.png

When you see all the policies appearing on official sites, probably the first tell tale an application is pending. emoji846.png

Took in a good few Pace games this season and the off-field progress has been incredible. Look forward to returning next season, maybe at the preliminary round of the Scottish!

Normally yes but Selkirk must be replaced.

But that's done through application, so the bottom club aren't relegated if there is no champion promoted and the 16th club is found via application. Otherwise they would need to find two clubs through application surely?

Yeah soz,  I had read your post as promotion and relation but you’d actually only said relegation. I edited but not quick enough - my bad.

Nobody promoted from Tier 6 but the Lowland League still has relegation. Threave relegated choose not to re-appy and Hawick and Civil fill the vacancies in the Lowland League through application.

I was under the impression that nobody is relegated if there isn't a licenced champion from EoS or SoS.

Yeah there isn’t relegation if no licensed champion. In that instance, applications would be taken to fill Selkirk’s void among licensed clubs.

Probably utterly futile of me to comment on one referee performance amongst six, however...

For what it's worth, I agree with you regarding the penalty award, as my original comment said, but I had the benefit of being within ten feet of two of his three red cards and I can tell you he got them bang on.

One was for a very high tackle followed by a motion of the head (as an IHS player described it), one was for a fairly derogatory insult directly to his face.

The other red card was in the middle of the pitch and I didn't see much wrong with it based on how his IHS team mates reacted at that moment in time.

I think this is basically the case of a referee getting fed up with players being grossly abusive to him, resulting in him dealing with it via caution, and why should he not?

If referees clamp down on verbal abuse I think our game would improve. I wouldn't take aggressive personal abuse in my job and I don't see why he should either.

If I'm totally honest, I'm a little perplexed why you as a neutral would feel emotional about the game enough to swear at him. I'm willing to believe he did his best and called it as he saw it. Why give him verbal abuse, what were you hoping to achieve by swearing at a stranger doing his job to the best of his abilities?

It's only an opinion, and my £5 is worth the same as yours. But I'm pretty happy in how I conducted myself in this regard.

Absolutely spot on from every angle.

Inverkeithing completely lost their discipline. Regardless of whether it was a penalty or not, the guy who got sent off at that time ran to the ref pre-penalty and was f’ng and blinding in his face. After it was retaken he sought out the referee again and started f’ing and blinding in his face again. This nonsense has to stop at all levels in football. Credit to the referee for having the bravery to stand up to the two in question who lost the plot.

I found myself standing among a number of locals, only one of around 8 actually saw the attempted headbutt. The other 7 were apoplectic about how the guy was shown yellow twice for the same challenge - ahem!

One later went on to bemoan how the ref had sent off two of their players, my father kindly pointing out that they were actually down to 8.

Another couldn’t believe his team were losing 5-2, inspite of it being 4-2.

    An odd afternoon all round.

Brilliant day out. Four very enjoyable games today, after the very one sided game last night. 26 goals over the five games so far, three red cards as IHS had a collective heads gone.

The day finished with a really high quality game at Linlithgow. Two very impressive teams.

I don't think the referee at IHS was quite as bad as he's been made out to be. He got the penalty decision badly wrong, but the red cards were spot on.

Onwards to Peebles tomorrow where a nil-nil surely awaits.

I was there as a neutral today and the referee was superb.

I thought that Bonnyton Thistle was already in the SOS and therefore already at Tier 6

They are, and again they are. Both true. But being Kilmarnock based, geographically they are closer to other traditional west of Scotland clubs, that includes top Ayrshire sides, than their current SOS geographic basis.

Therefore ideally they would be hopeful the West has a breakaway league in which case they join at the top.

if the juniors are however accepted I see no reason why Bonnyton should start at tier 9. There could be a one off conference league system similar to the EOS league this year that accompanies all interested teams in the west.

Bonnyton Thistle now top of the SOS, however they don't have a licence - wonder if they are amongst the applicants going in front of the SFA board shortly?

Threave are 16 points back with 10 games to play, so unless a miracle happens or Bonnyton get a licence then there will be no play-off.

Stranraer are flying and have won all 16 games they’ve played and have 3 games in hand over Bonnyton.

They should have the title wrapped up with a few games to play thus ensuring no play-off is necessary.

I think in an ideal situation Bonnyton could be part of a West League when that finally comes to fruition. If they don’t get a license this year it’s almost certain they’ll get one next year.

We are going to have a new lounge area put in over the close season as well as covered terracing at both sides of the ground , that will be everything ready for the premiership off the park , we just need to get it right on the park

Haven't been down to Darvel in about 4 years but will definitely return next season to see the changes.

    Agreed.

Even if you don't win the EoSL Conference play-offs, IMO you are the clear favourite for promotion to the LL through the application route. (to replace Selkirk).  It will be important to learn how many additional clubs will be awarded an SFA licence on 12th February, and (also) become eligible for promotion.

I agree Linlithgow would make an obvious choice.  I suspect Bonnyrig may gain promotion through playoffs but would be nice to see both Rose's get promoted.

Is the 12th Feb D-day as far as licensing goes?  I thought clubs had till end of March to both apply and prove their capability of obtaining a license.

If it is the 12th then not long to go - looks like there could be a fair amount of clubs applying which would be great for the league

Surely that’s not the case?  There are almost 600 clubs start in the FA Cup - all you do is add on more preliminary rounds and the non league clubs start earlier (main seniors don’t come in until December - not exactly rocket science.

To believe it's simply down to format is somewhat naïve.

Sure it may only be £2000 for example for clubs who go out in rd 1, but over the next 5-10 years if we have 40+ new licensed clubs from EOS and potential new West league all getting licensed then that changes things.

English game is rolling in money therefore they can comfortably afford to pay out sums to 600 clubs with the latter rounds still dwarfing the sums paid out to Scottish clubs in the latter rounds in spite of a far higher percentage of clubs.

That being said, I look forward to many more Scottish clubs being awarded a National Club License in the not too distant future, for both Scottish Cup reasons but also for potential promotion via the pyramid.
