Really poor from us tonight. Can blame the disruption of the Stanton injury but I didn’t think we were anywhere near our best even before then. Amazing that we scored 4 goals and I don’t think we were anywhere near our best going forward and it rarely clicked for us all night.

However, the main issue was defensively. We looked wide open all game. Full backs rinsed time and time again and looked really soft and exposed to any runs through the middle. Dabrowski at fault for the 4th obviously but think he should have done better for the 1st goal too. Dick, Millen, Murray, Byrne and Easton all probably had their poorest 90’s of the season.

All credit to Ayr though. For all the stick Bullen gets, I thought they really did a job on us. Exploited our shortcomings at full back and really doubled up and nullified Byrne and Easton in particular.

Bad nights will happen though, the players have been brilliant so far and can be excused an off day. Hopefully we learn the lessons and are back to our best for Arbroath. Good character to bounce back and at least take something from the game at the end and the result at Hampden somewhat softens the blow whilst also feeling a bit of a missed opportunity.

Bottom line is you guys are top of the league for Xmas  , bad day at office but still never got beat , park it and move on , well done Raith 👏🏼👏🏼👌🏼👌🏼

    Some sense amongst the drivel

  2. The prospect of paying Mehmet`s wages for another 2 years has to be considered in whether to replace him. A good keeper can be the difference between going up or going down in the championship. The rumored £1500 per week over 2 years has to be less than the potential loss of not progressing in the same 2 years.

We are in desperate need of a proper midfielder Joe Chalmers just isn`t good enough for the Championship and unfortunately neither is Allan(good enough squad player). Personally I would go and try get Dillon Easton on a pre contract next month and explore the option of Byrne both would massively improve us going forward. I know Wighton was great for us last season when he was fit but at this level he offers very little at the very least McCann offers pace and and is a nuisance as for Jak the jury is still out. No chance of finding a goal scorer in January but something has to change up top because we offer nothing.

I've no problem with the pyro personally, but the issue I have is the impact on experience for others.  Not everyone is that arsed by atmosphere, some people just want to go along and watch the game with their family/mates -  and that's 2 consecutive derbies where flares have been thrown into the "general" support, and hit people.  That's just shit, and to be honest, even before that there have been occasions where bits of pies, plastic juice bottles etc have been thrown off other fans.  Granted, its not a horrific life threatening experience, but its not particularly pleasant either for people that just want to watch the football - and some people may feel intimidated by it.  And whilst I'm sure nobody has been killed by pyro at football games, at Ibrox last season for example, it wasn't nice to que for a pie in a crowded and cramped concourse when someone lets one of these things off.

It's pretty clear that the police don't give a shit though - It's happened directly in front of them, and they don't care.  If they wanted to sort it or do something about it, they would.  Which does beg the question why we need police presence in the South Stand for certain games?  I get the impact outside the ground etc - but if things that are technically illegal at a ground are happing directly in front of them, and they aren't arsed, is there much point of them being there?  And there is only so much that a steward will be able/capable of doing - so I do feel some sympathy for the club.

Bit of a conundrum for the club though - they had an area of the ground dedicated for younger fans to make an atmosphere, and for whatever reason, it was a pretty resounding failure.  Taking legalities etc out of the equation, you'd want an environment where people can enjoy the game as they see fit - If that involves letting of flares etc, that's totally fine with me in an "ultras" section or similar - but that ship appears to have sailed for this season.

Not surprising when the community club kids/children were allocated a part of the RS which really isn,t the place for them.

How would you feel if the club were fined or otherwise sanctioned because fans used pyro? There needs to be an element of self policing. Other fans need to tell these guys not to bring these devices and they’re not welcome or acceptable. The club can’t change the law, it is illegal, so accommodating it just isn’t an option.

Who is going to fine or sanction the club?

    No strict liability for clubs

  5. Not so sure the club statement on pyrotechnics will make much of a difference in the short term anyway. Its not as rife at clubs as it was and no doubt will fizzle out

As far as potential sanctions go,to my knowledge there has been no club in Scotland that have been subjected to any sanctions but if I,m correct there is no strict liability for supporters behaviour in Scotland

Warning- a sensible rovers fan has been found,  having escaped from the wild pack it is unknown how they will integrate into the rest of society even given their initial friendly nature.

Contrary to believe there are a few of us.

There's a bit of envy, agreed. I wish we were 2nd in the league playing good football. Things are looking good along the road. Just disagree that you're doing it on a shoestring budget, that's all.

TBF if the shoe was on the other foot I,d be the same

I dont think for one minute that we,re doing it on a shoestring budget and I would think most supporters quietly question how its being done, I certainly do but for now all I and other supporters can do is enjoy the ride

End of the day the proof of the pudding will be the annual accounts

Let’s be honest. The difference is the Rovers board are pumping in unsustainable amounts of money to get promoted. With the poor crowds you get that isn’t a long term plan.

It is a bit reactionary that comment, but yous are spending absolute wads on players this season.

Unless Dundee United bottle it, you won’t win the league, but from what I have seen, Raith have a brilliant chance in the play-offs.

    Substantiate

  9. 14 minutes ago, DAFC. said:

Probably due to the fact it’s the most money you have spent on player’s wages for an age? I would honestly be shocked if if Raith’s wage expenditure isn’t the 2nd highest in the league.

So your guessing and using that as reason behind the horsing tonight and how good a start and only a start to the league campaign we have made

We probably spent more on DG and getting rid of him than we have spent on our entire wages for an age😅

I,d be surprised if our wage expenditure is the 2 nd highest in the league but feel free to post the wage expenditure of clubs in the division

Fecking scandalous that they can do that, when hes signed on loan till end of the season and indeed is out of contract with them in the summer

Dundee will likely have a recall on him come January if need be so understandable there stance on Byrne not playing in SC as much of a pisser it is

Ayr Utd have two players on loan and sure one (chalmers?)is not being allowed to play in the cup where one is
