Who has seen him actually play with the 18's and can provide a report?

I'm sure someone on the Bookface page had been at a game and reckoned he was nowhere near first team level and there were better players than him in that side.

Saw one match earlier in the season. He was way bigger than most of the other laddies who were playing that night and in the opinion of this 50+ year old who has no football experience other than watching Airdrie all my life he didn't particularly stand out. He was subbed for the second half and the young fella Watt who had been playing wide was then put through the middle and he looked a better prospect, bagging a couple of goals. For his size he didn't particularly bully the opposition defence nor did he appear to have this lightning pace or ability of Messi which his faither bangs on about. I'd be inclined to say, bang average at best but just a lot bigger than boys of a similar age, however I've only seen him once. I'm not jumping on the Bright Prince bandwagon just yet.

If he didnt get on the pitch it doesnt count. You can only PLAY for 2 clubs in one season. A single minute counts though.  I remember we tried to sign Declan McManus a few years ago and couldnt. He had dpent 1st half of season on loan at Morton but had played 1 minute of a European game for Aberdeen before he went on loan. That was the end of that. He had to stay at Morton for the season.

As always, thanks for the response and info.

Its been pointed out before but Lewis Jamieson has played for St Mirren this season. He cant play for a 3rd team. He goes back and stays at St Mirren or he stays at Airdrie, those are the only options.

Hoping @Skyline Driftercan answer this too regards Lyness. As far as I'm aware he was only an unused GK sub for St Mirren in a cup competition at the beginning of the season so given his release from us can he sign/play for anyone else now that we've released him?

Looking at the league table the best two teams in the division (Dunfermline and Edinburgh) both have two quality central defenders in both Benedictus and Fontaine. Both of those players I'd bite your hand off for just now.

Both Fordyce and Watson wouldn't get in any of those two starting elevens. Fordyce has regressed so much this season from being our most consistent defender. As other posters have already pointed out priority should be signing a good quality centre half or failing that a defensive midfielder.

I think some of our support have given Watson a pretty easy time of it. During the Falkirk game he got away with the shove on Burrell which would of been a booking and the shove on Alegria which should of been a penalty and a red card. For me at centre back he's always got bomscare moments in him and that will cost us more points. I've heard folk within our support describe him as 'collosal' and a 'Unit' which is laughable. He is much more suited to being a right back.

If we don't address the defensive issues I can see us finishing around 6th/7th with 4-4 draws to the likes of QOS etc.

Green dotted for content. Can you however, please, please start using HAVE and not of. Or even should've and could've.

    I'd be eternally grateful.

I wonder if bringing in an asistant manager would be something to consider, take the presure off Fordyce from that side of things and someone on the bench to feed into McCabe's thinking?

Discussed this with others and believe there is definitely merit in having someone on the bench (or stand) who can see what is happening on the pitch and make, or suggest, the necessary changes.

We dominated on Monday v Edinburgh for the first 20 minutes until Maybury made some tactical tweaks which brought them back into it. Sure we then contributed massively to our own downfall but also our management duo on the pitch weren't capable of seeing what was going wrong because they're too involved in the match. We had Hutton on the bench who was more intent on winding up and getting involved in scraps with the opposition bench. Some fans may well lap that kind of shit up but it doesn't do the team any good. I can't for the life of me see where our direction is coming from during those 90+ minutes on the field and until we have someone in the dugout capable of seeing and reacting to what is going on we'll continue to have these kind of results. Agnew would have been a good option but alas that ship has now sailed.

I wouldn't turn down improvements to the starting 11, clearly. However I don't really agree, I think our current position is down to lack of options from the bench and lack of options in the squad when injuries and suspensions have happened. In numerous games we've lost points because the opposition have had options to change the game and we haven't, and most of our dropped points came when Frizzell wasn't playing.

If we could add 3 or 4 players who are similar to the standard of our first 11 it would make a massive difference and we'd make the play-offs relatively comfortably.

Rhys mentions in his interview hoping to bring in "2 or 3". If as seems likely at present we lose LJ back to St Mirren that's only an additional 1 or 2. I don't know how long the loan is for young McMaster but if that ends in January there's another one gone. The potential 2 or 3 additions then don't swell the squad overly much if those 2 are gone. Sal returning from Stranraer (if that's what happens) gives us another body for the bench. Defo think we need more than 2 or 3 if the loans are ending.

Hope someone puts Telfer up in the air. Main stay in one of the worst periods in our history

Why would you want to potentially injure the opposition's most ineffective player?

Centre back pairing of Watson and ATS 😂😂

Watson was absolutely outstanding today, ATS did okay, Euan Deveney was also excellent unfortunately Cammy was fucking miles off it and seems to be getting further away from being decent with every game he plays.

Airdrie won the game but the game had been ill tempered. Mr Murray shouted into the Queen’s Park dressing room, as he walked past it, “Go tweet that you little fanny”. This was aimed at the claimant’s bother.”

This did make me laugh out loud.

I fully respect and admire Ian Murray for this particular stance.

    Airdrie died

Airdrieonians 1878 to 2002 did indeed die. How fucking galling it must be for you and others of a navy blue persuasion to see your team being owned by a new Airdrieonians. A club who are 20 years old, a mere toddler in footballing terms fucking owning you. I'm sure at some point, maybe even this weekend, you'll get a result against us and for a brief time you'll think that it's over but it won't be.

You will be right I will be pish as you say, time will tell,

You said a lack of football knowledge in the board and at management level. There is no need to wait for time to tell, the point is rubbish. Bobby Watson, Martin Ferguson are still around the club at boardroom level in some capacity, there's a wealth of knowledge. Rhys has plenty of football knowledge, it's just about translating that to managing a team from off the park as well as he organises on it. As pointed out by another poster he also needs to be given a full summer transfer window to see what his player identification ability is like.

  10. I totally agree with other posters that it was our lack of squad depth which ultimately cost us today, more so than goal keeping errors. We were still in the game at 2 each and more than capable of getting something despite being down to 10 men, even if it was penalties, if we'd had fresh legs to bring on in the same way that Dundee did. They were able to make 6 substitutions as well as the concussion sub for the keeper whereas we had Gabby and ATS both of whom have had a lack of minutes recently due to respective injuries. Thereafter the young laddies were only used when the game was well gone.

I'm not overly concerned about the cup as it's the league where we really need to be grinding out results until we can hopefully strengthen in January. It may have been nice to get to the next round and hopefully bring in some additional finances but that's not to be. I'm certainly not throwing toys out the pram and worrying that the season is finished for us, as it's far from it.

  11. Nah, will always support any campaign that seeks to stamp racism out the game whether it’s involving my club or not [emoji106] sometimes it’s good to look at the bigger picture.
Although this campaign was less about the alleged racist incident and more about seeking to blame the club for having part in it or after the event.

Having read some of the reports my favourite part is the bit where the hearing judge decided that on balance of probabilities an incident referred to by Mr Quitongo had not happened which strongly suggests a credibility issue.

I wouldn't be holding my breath however awaiting a statement from the club at this time while the various organisations supporting Quitongo examine the full written judgement and hopefully when it is issued it doesn't refer to "vindication".

That was diabolical against a very poor Peterhead side.

Ballantyne man of the match only because he seemed to have a sense of urgency and aggression about him which summed it up really.

Can we  ditch McMaster back to St Mirren at xmas as he's an absolute nothing player, fecking about 40 yards from his own goal playing side & backwards was doing my nut in. Devenny who he replaced done even less but light squad again was shown up as it's clear the young subs are only to replace injured players.

Frizzell coming back will help but we need to turn over players in the next window. Deveney, Watson & Telfer were particularly horrific today.

Just shows how we all see different things. Justin is a young lad and as McCabe alluded to at the start of the season there will be times when he needs a break from the first team. That would maybe be now but as we don't have a lot in the way of numbers it's not that easy. I  thought McMaster had a good afternoon when he came on. He made some excellent forward runs and only the poor decision making of team mates meant that he didn't get played in. He played some very good forward balls too, linked in well with Smith and Jamieson and yes some passes were sideways but when the boss is alongside you and he's demanding the ball, as a youngster what are you going to do?

Had Gary behaved like a man and called PH then there is a far higher likelihood the issue would've been resolved.

Zero chance anyone at the club will want to speak to Gary now knowing that the content of any conversation will end up on Facebook or in the Daily Record.

Certainly think the second part of this is entirely accurate, going to the press doesn't do anyone any favours. Even if the press did come to him. Never speak to or trust a journalist.
