  1. Absolutely agree that Halliday is a total p***k, would absolutely rather we didn't bring him in, but I think we're at the bargain bin when it comes to midfield cover. Put it this way, we had f**k all interest in him last week, but after Slattery's injury I guess Kettlewell is looking for someone who is already in the league, with some experience. We'll no have many options in that regard.
  2. Surely it's no that deep? We have a limited budget, were perhaps happy with our midfield options, Slattery's injury now leaves us short, Halliday is here and available. Not a big fan of his, would rather we didn't have to sign him. But we need cover.
  3. Meh, I don't actually think that's a terrible idea to be honest. Knows the league, has been fairly decent for Hearts. Would he be a first choice summer signing? Absolutely not. But we are where we are and I think he could do a job. PS Montgomery would be a decent signing imo but agree we need a RWB.
  4. Canny believe what I'm reading about our Player of the Month (and Player of our Hearts). Bair has been pretty good for us overall and very good in recent weeks. There's only one striker we should be making a point of punting this window. Without naming names it's Oli S... no that's too obvious, let's say O Shaw.
  5. As a founding member of the Theo Bair fan club, I'll be absolutely gutted if this rumour is true.
  6. I thought Penney was pretty good for us and if fit would be a decent signing, but given the choice of him or Furlong, I'd probably pick Furlong. Would find it bizarre for us to sign Penney and Furlong while having Gent too.
  7. My take on the cingey/"quirky" video, while I'm not a fan and am still baffled by a lot of it, I'm not sure it's quite as bad as the initial reaction suggests, it's a bit chronic but probably not the worst thing ever, however let's also not pretend it's got loads of layers of comedy to it. Folk are talking about it and I guess you canny argue with the views if "reach" is your main aim. Had it been put out alongside an announcement of a healthy increase in Well Society membership or actual investment news, sort of like "this is great but we can do more with more investment" it probably wouldn't have received the reaction from our fanbase that is has had. As @Busta Nut said, when the 18 months to two years of hype around "investment discussions" is just a video I think folk are right to question what else has been happening. If it gets more eyes on the club then great, but I'm sure serious money investors will need a lot more than a cheesy video to jump at the chance to get involved.
  8. Hugh Jackman should just invest to one-up Ryan Reynolds. Happy for us to be referred to as the Wellverines for this venture.
  9. Liam Kelly absolutely commanded traffic there, outstanding performance, fearless. Baffling video.
  10. Only accepting this if the announcement video has him wearing an eye patch and devil horns.
  11. By the sounds of it Dundee United probably can't afford what they're paying them either... FWIW I wouldn't have taken either of them at this moment in time, and if we announced the signing of a striker on loan from St Mirren, sections of the support would go into absolute meltdown.
  12. 100 per cent. I don't think a revolving door of managers will have helped anyone find consistent form. Like I said, I've always liked SOD and not really sure why he seems to get a bit more heat than others when the team is underperforming.
  13. I like Paul McGinn and SOD, I actually think they both "get it" to an extent. McGinn seems like a great guy and I'd see value in keeping him for another season, we're a far better team with him than without imo. SOD certainly hasn't been consistent since arriving, but I do think he gets a harder time than most. Perhaps higher expectations from folk? By all accounts he stood up to Alexander's pish tactics, which was the view of the fans at the time. Also heard a hilarious rumour that he drew devil horns, an eye patch etc on a big picture of Tony Watt in the Tannadice tunnel, which is tremendous if true. Was apparently the first game up there after he left us, where Watt and Burrows exchanged ideas too.
  14. To be clear, I don't think anyone should be sitting giving reply guys the time of day on Twitter. But I think communications could be a bit better.
  15. Thought he came across well and given that he's only interim it's not something he had to do. Imo he gave a fairly honest assessment, his view on past management structures, without sticking the boot in, and admitted where the club have gone wrong, particularly the East Stand repairs/renovation. While I've never really been a fan of Jim McMahon, I've always thought Derek Weir was good for the club and was pretty pleased when he was brought back as the interim CEO. Where I'll disagree with him is on the communications, I don't think it's been very good of late and I do think it can be improved without spending a whole lot of cash to do so (ie going back to the larger comms team he referenced). More about utilising what we do have a bit more efficiently. Thought his point on the training compensation having to evolve was really valid, seems to be a bit of ridiculous system which punishes smaller clubs, who can't compete and miss out on higher transfer fees for talent they develop. Will be interesting to see who comes in next.
  16. Not taking the piss here, but they mistakenly gave him the goal. Think he ended up with the assist. Yer standard last minute goalmouth scramble from the clip.
  17. Think it'll be because of the winter break, but we should really correct their error. Arsenal, this is Mika Biereth and we really hope you don't recall him early!
  18. Just been reminded that on this day, five years ago, we re-signed Ross McCormack... So aye, maybe the 2019 version of him puts recent strikers into perspective.
  19. Think he showed in flashes a bit of technical ability, took a couple of goals well, but overall Wilkinson's output wasn't enough for us, considering he was signed to be one of our starters by all accounts. Thought he carried himself with a bit of the 'I'll absolutely stroll it up here' attitude which we've seen in the past, across the league. Best for all that he moved on. Wouldn't have him on Jacob Blyth levels of terrible mind you. Not sure that guy was actually a footballer.
