  1. Whilst I don't agree with your viewpoint, it's always interesting to get an outside perspective. It's not just about us finally having a team capable of competing. For me, it's the entire club, from top to bottom, is heading in the right direction. Falkirk are a club in the ascendancy and there's a real air of optimism that next season will also go well, and everyone, from the BoD, to the management team, to the players and, of course, the fans, deserve enormous credit. The young boys and girls that follow this team will view the current players are legends, whether rightly or wrongly, and who are we to tell them what to think? PS - How is it Dens Park has a pitch THAT BAD yet all anyone wants to talk about is how terrible plastic pitches are?
  2. I'm glad Morrison signed that contract extension, but I can't help but feel we'll have a fight on our hands to keep him this summer, as he'll surely be attracting a lot of attention due to his red-hot form of late. The good thing is that the contract extension puts the ball firmly in our court. Would love him to stay (obviously) but what would be a realistic figure the club would entertain? £1M? On the subject of legends - I think that, were he to stay until Falkirk are back in the premiership, there would be absolutely no denying his legend status.
  3. Wait. I haven't watched McGlynn's pre-match yet. Please don't tell me Hendo's out?!
  4. Not keen on that idea. Mackie is a loose cannon. To be fair though, I wouldn't expect him to be under much pressure tomorrow.
  5. Sounds like tomorrow might end up being our highest attendance of the season? #crowdwankery
  6. With the wealth of experience he has, he would be an asset to the backroom staff, that's for sure.
  7. Ach, I can't argue with any of that. Russell was considered "damaged goods" and "over the hill" at that point. Easy to forget that, looking back. Also a good point RE Arfield. I've seen various clips of him at Charlotte and he seems to be an immensely popular member of the squad. For all his talk about wanting to finish up at Falkirk, he'll most likely sign a new deal and retire in the US. I just want him back here. Is that so wrong?
  8. IF, and it's a big IF, this were to happen, it would definitely be in January 2025, when his current deal ends. You're right, it's not realistic, but is it any more farfetched than signing Russell Latapy back in 2003?
  9. I was speaking to a St Johnstone fan last night. He was saying that he used to enjoy the trips to Falkirk on away days. Careful what you wish for!
  10. Christ, is he only 19?! I assumed he was 22-23! Best compliment I could probably pay him. The only time that sticks in my mind where he was badly exposed was at QotS last week, but that match is naturally gonna be much more fresh in the memory than others. My only real concern about him at the back is that he isn't the quickest, but that's really about it. If you're gonna tightly mark your man, you'd better have the pace to catch up if they spin you. I'd be interested to see what he could offer in midfield, but he's not budging Hendo or Spencer, is he?
  11. Seems to be dividing opinion, but I personally think he's a useful option and every single team needs that one player who can come off the bench and score a late goal. He's made quite a habit of it this season and I'm happy he's staying on. I'm still holding out hope, even if it is a fool's hope, that Scott Arfield will come home, which would then surely make Gary a distant third choice in the number 10 role.
  12. That's a brilliant statement. Summed up my thoughts perfectly.
  13. Somebody else! Knew I wasn't in denial/going crazy
  14. Yeah been really impressed with O'Neills. The home and heritage tops have been 10/10 efforts. Even the away shirt is really good, it's just a bit overshadowed by two all-time kits. Hoping and praying that they also re-release the 1991 home shirt.
  15. Maybe I'm in denial then . I'm a 2XL on Scotland shirts but I'm wearing 4XL on O'Neills stuff! I intend to buy one on Saturday when making my way through to TFS from Ayrshire but I'm worried this will defo sell out and wanna order it ASAP.
  16. Surely they're planning on re-releasing the home shirt from this era too? Can't just leave us hanging! What a beautiful strip that was/is. Anybody know what the sizing is like? I have to go 2 sizes up on the O'Neills gear.
  17. Even a trebuchet with a giant trampoline at the other side would suffice.
  18. That's more or less what I had in mind. There are plenty of stations in Glasgow for example that are merely a platform, a ticket machine and that's it. They're more like train "stops" than stations.
  19. Thanks for sharing. Crazy how expensive these developments are. Highly unlikely that Network Rail would fund Grangemouth and then another station 2 miles down the road when, as others have pointed out, Grahamston isn't THAT far away.
  20. You're a right miserable sod aren't you?
  21. Bear in mind that the track towards Grangemouth is fully functioning already. Would literally need a platform, signalling etc and that's it.
  22. Is that seriously how much a wee station would cost? Mental!
  23. A wee but off-topic here but thought this would be a worthwhile discussion, so thought I'd share with those of you who are not on Facebook. Seen a lot of talk recently about the possibility of Grangemouth train station re-opening, and it got me thinking. Were this to happen, there should also be serious consideration for opening a station outside the stadium. The Grangemouth line literally passes right by the stadium on the way to Grahamston, but it wouldn't make much sense for folk travelling from Grangemouth to use the train on matchdays, as it means going to Grahamston. Would also cut out a near 30 mins walk after matches for anyone heading into town, and folk would be more likely to hang around the Brockville Bar whilst waiting on their train, meaning more revenue for the club. Seems a no-brainer to me?
