I don't know if he's improved significantly over the last year, but Henderson wasn't really good enough for us in the championship... I wouldn't rely on him to be a star man in this league

It's a funny one because add in a Mal Boateng, and a couple of good defenders and you're probably looking at one of the best teams in the league, and yet I struggle to be optimistic about the coming year. My honest hope is that we can push for 4th. I don't think we're beating thistle, Raith, or livi, but otherwise the league is full of diddies (ourselves included). I don't think we need to fear last place, because I think Hamilton will be awful, but I could very easily be wrong on that. I'm interested to see how the la masia of the southside develops over the course of this year... Two big money sales in the last 6 months and more stars of the future incoming it would seem. Maybe this year we'll see tyreece McDonnell boy come into the first team, as it looks like he's been great for the b team, but of course he'd be third fiddle to Paton and McLeish. Coaching staff has been completely overhauled seemingly, which is worrying to say the least. Why did just about everyone possible leave in the space of a month? I suspect we'll never really know the story there. Hopefully though their replacements are adequate, and can get Davidsonball into the players' heads (although I still don't like the style). Going to be a weird season, as ever, I think

I'd have liked to have kept Bannon another season, but the McKenna one I can understand. I don't think you can justify keeping a sub goalie (albeit the best sub goalie in the league) around to develop when you can get £300k cash in hand. I don't know all the financials but I'd imagine that money went to paying Danny Wilson and co's wages, which kept us up last season

In fairness, according to Shields, Celtic are mandated to play a "first team". I don't know the exact terms of that, but I'd imagine it means players that have played x minutes in the premiership last year or whatever. You might not see the full first 11 but there ought to be recognisable names in there. Worst comes to the worst I've got a pal in the Celtic U18s so I might get to see him getting booted by Charlie Fox

So in terms of first team players changing from the second half of last year, as far as I can see it would be: Josh hinds in, Grant savoury in, maybe this MacGregor guy in Bannon out, Sheridan out, Robson out, Bruce out, mckinstry probably out, and then various loanees out There's still the possibility we're going to be using the loan market again this season, but otherwise a very concerning lack of depth in some positions. Obviously guys coming through the youth will do a job, and I think someone like McLeish would now be considered a regular first team player, but it's still concerningly little depth in some positions

No Alex Bannon, but there was a certain Ruari Paton there, which bodes well

That'll be useful for all those opposition teams that wear white and red but not red and white

Squad numbers aren't always meaningful... Did we not have Kenny and then Henderson as our "number 9s" in the 22/23 season

I think it's worth bearing in mind the standard of player he's up there with though. He's not Dom Thomas for sure, but I'd have him over McKinstry any day Premiership might be a wee bit beyond him but I do think he's getting unwarranted criticism

It's something I was quite surprised by when I saw yous play. Playing against McCabe's Airdrie you expect to see an exciting attacking match, and then yous just hoofed it up over our line (effectively, it must be said) for ninety minutes in both of our first 2 games. I think yous have probably got a decent manager in McCabe given he has that flexibility, where in comparison Davidson puts out the same 5212 until the end of time

This post gets even worse now Liam Craig's gone btw
