  1. Don't get me wrong, I love my Garmin and I'd never have managed without it when I was fitter a few years ago, but after pregnancy, c-section etc, I think time on feet more important than pace at the mo. once I'm back to a reasonable level of fitness, I'll get back to g Garmin-watch and working on pace.
  2. After a bit of a setback, I am now halfway through week 4 of c25k and am feeling strong. Did 3 miles tonight. Have stopped wearing my Garmin as I was focusing too much on pace, when really I just need to be focusing on being on my feet, really.
  3. Pressed send too soon... Inverness is a bit early though. I think the Aberdeen one is a bit later.
  4. Ooft that looks a bit swollen...Finished week 2 of couch to 5k last night, feeling strong. Will start week 3 on Sunday. Don't feel sore the next day anymore, so my muscles must be getting used to it again. Good. Won't be long before I am chasing PBs again. There's a big 5k in Aberdeen in August that I've got my eye on, and was half thinking of entering the race for life in Inverness...
  5. 161 pages. We're a dedicated bunch, for sure!
  6. I've done the 10k at Loch Ness (it's where I have my PB actually, it's virtually downhill all the way apart from the uphill start!) and I thought it was a brilliantly well organised event. I stayed to watch the marathon finish as someone from my club was running it and he said it was a brilliant race. The scenery is stunning, too, which is a bonus!
  7. Finished week one of c25k last night, so week 2 starts tomorrow morning. Felt strong yesterday so bring it on... Going to sign up for a couple of summer 5k races to keep me motivated.
  8. I took the boy to Germany when he'd just turned 2. Drinks from a sippy cup or bottle if they'll take one good for take off so the sucking action soothes. Sweets handy for bribery. The worst bit for us (me) was getting him to sit down for landing as he didn't want to put the seatbelt on. But at 2 he had to have his own seat so that might be easier with an 18 month old.
  9. Thighs a bit sore after yesterday's run. Had a bit of an achy pelvis yesterday which I suppose is to be expected 6 weeks post c-section, but it's fine today. Hope to get out again tomorrow.
  10. Getting out on Sunday for my first post-baby run! It's incredibly sad how excited I am about this... Worried about how unfit I'll be. Was thinking of starting around week. 3 of the couch to 5k programme.
  11. Much easier second time around. Not just with breastfeeding, but with everything!
  12. Oh, she could also squeeze a bit of milk so that it's sitting on her nipple and let your son luck at it so he realises it's there. The early days of breastfeeding are tough. Really fucking tough. And sore. But once you get past them, it's easy peasy and so much less hassle.
  13. It absolutely is. Just on the not latching on, a couple of things you and Claire (it is Claire isn't it?) could try - swaddle him before his feed so that his arms aren't getting in the way - this works really well for me as sometimes when E is frustrated, she pushes away from the breast with her fists. Secondly, chances are that Claire's breast is engorged at night, especially if it has been a while since the last feed, so get her to hand express just a bit off before trying to latch your son on. If the breast is engorged, it's really difficult for them to latch on. Thirdly, if he's unsettled and screaming/crying, it's going to be pretty impossible for him to latch on. Try and settle him down first (that's where you're best as he'll smell Claire's milk and will just get more frustrated and it then gets even more difficult to latch on, much easier for you to settle him) - get him upright, pat his back and shush at the same time (shush pat is a baby whisperer technique, the theory being that a baby can't concentrate on more than two things, so the shushing and the patting doesn't leave any room for crying), let him suck on your finger (gets the suck reflex going). Once he is calm, try again. Lastly, tell Claire not to be afraid to kind of manhandle him. I sometimes have to be firm to get E on the breast. Hold his head firmly with one hand and the breast with the other and put his nose by her nipple. He should open his mouth quite wide - put him on when he does this and hold him there until he starts sucking. I hope this helps, but feel free to PM me if you need any more advice.
  14. It's ace though Addie. I had a planned section this time and I'd recommend it! Labour is shit. ;-)
  15. Congrats Jamie! We're back to hospital today for hearing test as they didn't do it before we left. Poor toot has a cold, too. Wee shame!
  16. My older son was a bit like that, Shuggie. He is great with Esther, really affectionate and cuddles and kisses aplenty, but he was acting up with us. He's better now, but still has his moments!
  17. Ha ha, potty training is such fun! Congrats Clancy!
  18. It's harder when they've got pants on as they think they're back in nappies. Stick with it though, should only take a few days for him to get the message if he's properly ready!
  19. Flying solo today with the two kids for the first time. Husband back to work. Hopefully I'll manage not to kill the eldest...
