  1. I was shown texts from a referee to a friend of his, stating that he was not going to allow a midweek cup game go to penalties as he was heading off somewhere early the next day. He wasn't fussed either way who won, just that it didn't go beyond the 90 mins.
  2. It’s been a tough watch in the last quarter of the season that looked like promising so much at one stage. We should all be full of hope and dreams but, as has been quoted - 2nd bottom of the form table - it knocks it out of you. Even if by some weird break in the space - time continuum, we managed to negotiate the play-offs and got promoted, it just wouldn’t seem real, or that we deserved it. It feels a bit like when we all thought we had blown it against Alloa, and most of us turned up at Somerset just to make up the numbers for the last game of the season, which then weirdly turned into a league winning party. I remember hearing the helicopter and it still didn’t make sense.
  3. Unconscious bias Guy is a complete hoodoo for us as the stats clearly show
  4. I hate Inverness. I actually hate all those highland teams, they can get into the sea, please. Like Arbroath, but everything from Dundee, right around the coast of Scotland to Troon, can f**k right off back to caber tossing.
  5. While not a huge fan of this kind of thing, there were calls for years for us supporters to be in receipt of more output from the club, across the board, as far as media is concerned. You see the big boys down south involved in it all the time, including the charity visits they do. Im sure it’s here to stay, but might evolve, as most things do, but kudos for trying.
  6. Vote now: 1. Dools 2. Doolsy 3. Doolster 4. Doolstario 5. Doolso 6. WageThiefAtAyr
  7. Spoke to Connor’s daughter and she said he spoke fondly of his time at Ayr. She was delighted to hear my thoughts that it was her dad who was the mastermind behind it all.
  8. Has anyone actually been witness to the “budget” that so many talk about. Not just for Ayr United, but for all of the teams in the division. It would be really handy when comparing us against the competition.
  9. Having been in the top four most of the season, you would think we should be confident about going to Partick and beating them, but I don’t know of any Ayr fan that could honestly say that. I thought maybe it was just me, then you think back to all of the ‘big games / must win / 6 pointers’ and I can really only think of Stranraer playoffs (and we just scraped past that) and getting a result up at Inverness in recent memory!
  10. They seem to know what a high stakes game is - unfortunately we have not won any of them, so I am heavily predicting a straightforward defeat.
  11. I hate playing Devil’s Advocate but is this maybe where we are as a club? Survival in the Championship? Been a while since we were an established Championship team, and I know we are getting there, but surely the income streams / season ticket numbers / prize money etc needs to consistently improve and grow before we can class ourselves as true mid to top end Championship, year after year? We spent so long in and out the seaside leagues that we were seen as part of them - for a while we were such a yo-yo team and a club that was neither one or the other to a degree. Fans don’t have patience though - myself included - but a dash of realism now and then both disappoints but also keeps you sane.
  12. We don’t have a championship winning squad - I think that is being fair and pretty obvious to see. The tough part this season, however, is that we have had plenty of opportunities to actually WIN the bloody thing! As a supporter it has been absolute torture at times, being so close and then seeing it slip away. For me, our whole season can be summed up in the Falkirk game. Then you add in the fact we have a rookie manager, a left field choice, lauded as being far from the merry-go-round of dirge that exists in every bookies list of potential candidates for vacancies in Scotland. I cannot think of any manager out there that I would want to be in that dugout that we would realistically have a chance of getting - and that is scary. That doesn’t mean that I think Bullen is the right choice for us - I think I’m trying to say that we NEED to give him into next season to see how the squad and he improves. As hard as it pains me sometimes, and I agree that the football can be insipid, I think we need to stick with it for now. P.S. I’m still not over the Falkirk game!
  13. Go to the bank, take every penny you have out, take it and speak to all your friends and family. Try and borrow as much as you can from then. Take it all and stick it on Partick Thistle to win.
  14. Would be interesting to know how much those extra 11 points cost? Fingers crossed that the same amount again is spent to add another extra 11 points next season.
  15. Are we fighting for 3rd place now or do we still have some faint hope of 2nd?
