Very much agree with this. I've listened to it a few times through on the commute this week and I genuinely really like it. I'd also have done away with Am I savage and maybe Murder One though - both have decent main riffs but are tracks I've started to skip. Theres definitely a big hint of Load/Reload on this new album which I'm really pleased about as they both, especially the former, contain some of Metallicas best work, despite not being tr00 metalz or whatever. My biggest complaint about this album however is Kirk Hammetts contribution, or lack of it. He supposedly lost a phone containing over 250 riffs, but he said that left him to concentrate on his solos - which is bizarre as it feels like almost every solo on this album could be interchanged between songs and no-one would notice. They all feel like sloppy pentatonic messes with far too much wah pedal. What makes Hammett one of the greats isn't his actual technical skill (or lack of it) but his ability to write solos so good that you couldn't imagine the songs with anything else. Moving on, it's also great to hear a proper Metallica album that isn't actually painful to listen to. Death Magnetic had some good stuff but the production was so poor it makes it unbearable at loud volumes. I'd give this new album an 8/10 but it could have been higher had they trimmed some of the fat and if Hammett had his finger out.

Can't be arsed linking them but Metallica are releasing a new video for every song on the new album every two hours tonight apparently, "Dream No More" and "Confusion" have been released so far.

You "can make out the words" on most Slayer songs, Araya is hardly one of those cookie monster vocalists like Cannibal Corpse or any of that dross. Not that it matters on this song. Disappointing, I really liked the last album and was hoping they'd continue where they left off. But then with no Hanneman or Lombardo its not a huge surprise this is so poor.

Hmmm Great intro and a monstrous riff but it still feels about 2 minutes longer than it needs to be. The solos a bit wah wanky but then that's been Hammett since about 1996! Really impressed by Lars though, which some is something I never thought I'd say. Can't really judge it on lyrics or melody based on the quality of videos available yet. So I'm cautiously optimistic. But I'd rather have another Load or Black album than another album of great riffs forced together into 7 or 8 minute long songs that are painful to listen to because of their shitty production.

Meh, an alright first episode back. Felt a bit too slow paced and predictable in places.

What a glorious show, just recently discovered this and its a travesty that absolute w**k like HIMYM and TBBT are on tv constantly over here ,whilst not many have even heard of this wee gem. New season starts tonight in the states, I can't wait. The trailer looks brilliant. No Chevy Chase this season though, and Troy leaves after a few episodes but with Dan Harmon back hopefully they can make it work and we can all just forget about season 4. Six season and a movie!

Saw Metallicas "Through The Never" tonight and I highly recommend it to anyone with even a slight interest in them. Basically a shortened greatest hits live show with a narrative breaking it up. It looks great in 3D and sounds absolutely incredible (Though its obviously been touched up a tad in the studio as Lars sounds like a more than competent drummer) The bass and bass drums feel like you're eardrums are being punched over and over, but in a good way. It also reaffirms what an absolute beast of a rhythm guitar player Hetfield is. Superb stuff.

Breaking Bad is it not? I end up in the The Loft far more often than I should, but no matter how steamin I am, I always refuse to have a photo taken. This thread always springs to mind as soon as I walk in. Thank you PnB.

Kerry Kings such a dick. Doesnt look like Jeffs gonna be back anytime soon either, so I really dont have much hope for the next album at all now.

Seattles part of Live Shit, which came out with San Diego I think. But aye the Seattle gig is amazing, its Metallica at their thrash peak imo. Back when Lars was a relatively decent drummer. Cunning Stunts was part of their Load tour, where they have short hair and wear eyeliner.

Sinister 3/10 Kinda like Insidious, starts off with a bit of potential, few wee creepy bits, before descending into complete laughable nonsense and cheap scares.

Wouldnt say Im a regular gig goer, but I still wear them. Usually have a pair handy at festivals too. I suffer ringing in my ears every now and then, and the thought of that being more frequent or permanent is terrifying.

Hmm Soundgarden were a bit meh. Just like their Download set really. I dont what it is, but anything live of them Ive seen since they reformed has been underwhelming

Ive been a Fifa convert/fanboy since Fifa 08, but Im done with this years game. I give up. Ive not been able to get a game on seasons in about 3 weeks. The only mode that works is UT, which I hate. Its just a cash cow for EA. I played it out of just wanting a game anywhere, and its still as infuriating as when last I played it when it first started. And although scripting sounds mad theres been a few occasions where that theory makes sense. Some of the last minute goals ive conceded, and scored, have just been ridiculous. Fifa World Cup 2010 was the best Fifa yet, it was just a few tweaks away from a masterpiece. Might put this years game on ebay whilst its still worth a half decent amount of money.

Watched the new one earlier. Brilliant stuff, and one of my favourite episodes so far.
