  1. No, but he does merit a start ahead of Small.
  2. That's not Holt's fault though. The fact is he's very inexperienced at this level and we can't change that. I think part of the problem is that, at the start of the season he had no expectation of us achieving very much at all and the players seemed to play with a bit of freedom as a result. Remember Roberts on the half way line when we were defending a corner? Now he's on the post with everybody else in the box. I think the very fact that we are (were) up there challenging is affecting him and how he sets the team out. Everyone behind the ball with a punt to Beck being the out-ball? Maybe. I've a feeling that we'll see a different formation on Saturday, depending on the available personnel.
  3. Oh, thank f**k, I was starting to get worried there.
  4. Well, aye, that kinda illustrates my point. Forgot about Ollie but, if I'm being kind, his lack of match practice is letting him down!!
  5. I think I'm right in saying that, other than some of the really young guys, we've only got Vaulks, Kingsley, McGrandles, Sibbald, Loy & Roberts signed for next season and Kingsley may well be sold. I don't think Holt's any option but to free Turnbull, Dick, Rowan, Faulds and possibly Grant too as they've been around for a while now and aint gonna make the break through. Looks like big changes ahead!
  6. Maybe a little too far there although he has improved a lot for sure. At least shows the right attitude consistently which can't be said for them all!
  7. Strange thing is thought that, from that photie, Sibbs is built like a brick shit hoose and Connor like a skelf yet few win a physical battle with McGrandles while Sibbs is generally quite easily knocked off the ball. (Although I do feel he's getting stronger all the time)
  8. Well, we may have seen the benefit today, but I have to say that the long ball to target man game is not my cup of tea. Personally I would like to see Alston back in for Beck with Roberts through the middle with Loy.
  9. FWIW I think Sibbald has bulked up a bit and is more competitive now than before although this is possibly just a natural development. He's like Jay Fulton and Ryan Flynn before them though in that he looks like he's playing with the weight of the world on his shoulders. Just doesn't look like he's enjoying himself and looks very short on confidence.
  10. I'm thinking and hoping that the difference this season may just be the fact that we have winners in the side now. We still have the likes of Sibbs, Jay & Roberts who's heads I think would drop pretty quickly if we went on a bad run however Vaulks, Kingsley Millar & Loy won't throw in the towel and would, I think, influence guys like McGrandles, Alston & Duffie who previously may have joined the former group.
  11. No reason perhaps, however....................
  12. if that's the case this gives me a bit more confidence.
  13. I wouldn't be so sure about this folks. Who exactly sit on the committee that will be voting? The self preservationists will certainly want to keep us out if it means any of them staying up.
  14. I think you're taking what he says a little too literally. He's obviously not picking the team on the flip of a coin, either that or it's two headed! I would read that to mean that there's very little between the players and that it's difficult to choose. I do think that he'll make some changes on Saturday as I think we'll need some battlers in there so I wouldn't be surprised if both Ollie and Alston come in. Regarding the fact that we gave him the gig? Who knows? The board have either seen something special in him or have gone for the cheap option.
  15. Millar brought a great save from the Livi keeper with a 20 yard shot early on in Saturday's game and does that on a regular basis. I can't remember McBride doing that very often if at all. Although he's generally played deep in an effort to control the game he's an excellent attacking midfielder too. I would agree though that Saturday's game wasn't his best and possibly his least effective since returning to the club.
  16. Don't remember him tinkering with the defence for any reason other than injury which, unfortunately, I think may happen quite often as McCracken appears a bit injury prone.
  17. Aye, they were all blowin' oot of their arses. Was the same v Morton I felt although I believe there had been a virus doing the rounds that week. Could argue that they didn't look too fit against Alloa either as they didn't seem to be moving the ball very quickly.
  18. I think Duffie's been much improved this season.
  19. I never look at OneF never mind post there, but I assume Roberts gets a lot of abuse?
  20. What's the offensive singing they're on about on the OS? Got very excited when I first read it as I thought it said offensive signing!!
  21. Let's not get too excited folks. Yes it's great news and I think he's a terrific wee player but we can't go thinking that he's automatically going to fix everything. This is a very different team to the one he left and we need to see if he can fit into it/it can fit around him. He's played very little top team football lately and may take a game or two to get up to speed. That said he can only really improve things overall, I just hope that we don't go all doom and gloom if it doesn't happen against Livingston.
