  1. Aye. I was pissed. Should have been the other way around. Or something like that...
  2. Super result against CS today. Lots of youngsters working their socks off, Tam Scobbie making Stu Malcolm look like Brian Clough (EDIT - that's the wrong way around. Sorry Tam), the 100th piss poor referee in a row, and a cracking sunset. 10 men for 25 minutes or so. We'd have lost 2-1 at any time during the last 3 years
  3. Berwick didn't 'empty' their squad. Only 3 of the team that played at Brora (in the heavy cup defeat that prompted the financial reappraisal) are no longer at the club - Buchanan, Travis and Ferguson. 1 more - Sneddon - left as well, but has since come back. On top of that, we were already shite and getting regularly beaten even with those 3.
  4. Berwick's weakened squad will play week in week out against the rest of the league till the end of the season. The team that will most suffer, will be Berwick. B teams playing weakened teams is entirely a matter of luck as far as the opposition is concerned, and the B teams themselves are wholly unaffected because they don't give a toss about the match result.
  5. Great result for Berwick yesterday. A really young side seeing off Tranent for our first win for some time, makes it a happy New Year. Usual shite ref decisions - laughable sending off of Stevenson, that brought our average age down by about 8 years. Several of the team already signed up for next season, and a feel-good atmosphere developing after Months of gloom. Kudos to Tam Scobbie and Kev Dixon.
  6. Fabulous game at Berwick yesterday in dreadful conditions. Had all the typical Lowland League stuff - penalties, scraps, a red card, unlikely fightbacks and of course, shite decisions. Ducket side linesman - from Galashiels allegedly - denied a last ditch winner for Berwick, by shoving his flag in the air when all the advice was for it to go up his arse. Video clearly shows Lewis Barr was onside. And the Gala keeper escaping a red card was more ridiculous than Tim Martin's Knighthood. Well done to both teams for a cracking game and for over 400 who turned up and enjoyed a great game of futty.
  7. The Boxing Day defeat at Gala was - according to the few Berwick fans who actually went - a new low. A non-existent midfield ahead of an inadequate defence, and no idea how to attack. Lacklustre doesn't get close, embarrassing does. Allegedly. Capitulate to the same opposition at home on Saturday, and crowds will fall away in the New Year. Time for Tam Scobbie to show that he can motivate a team, and for the likes of McCormack, Barr and Nelson to take some responsibility.
  8. Statement from the club about Berwick's finances tonight. Sensible stuff about costs not exceeding income as we go forward. Budget for next year will be better than most in the Lowland League, purely because our income streams (crowds, sponsorship, match day hospitality etc) is better than most in the league. Was critical about communication from our Board, so this is welcome clarification from them.
  9. There's nothing about this piss-poor league that doesn't disappoint me.
  10. Aye - feels a bit weird. OK, it was against Edinburgh Uni, and Antell pulled off one wonder save, but the win was fully deserved. Could have been 4 or more. Several injuries and 2 suspensions too, but the returning Jamie Stevenson absolutely bossed the game. Small signs of spring, but we need to win a couple more before the end of the year. Pleased for everyone who has put in lots of hard work since our season turned upside down.
  11. Thanks for this measured, honest and welcome response. For my part, I don't see much point in coming on this thread and being all positive and bubbly when we keep losing! I'll do that when I see some improvement and when we get a decent display and 3 points. That doesn't mean to say I'm a perennial moaner or keyboard warrior, it just reflects my views as a fan on the day I post it. At the start of this season, I said in here that I thought we might win the league!!!! That went well ....! The club is in a bad way - probably worse than any time in my 44 years watching (though we did get locked out of Shielfield Park and almost went bust once). But, I know that good work goes on behind the scenes and I hope you find some young players - 1st to help Tam Scobbie, and 2nd hopefully to find some raw talent that might make us a few Bob further down the line Good luck mate, and thanks for your post. Hope the club can be a bit more open and honest via social media, too. Will be there on Saturday (2 days of dry weather is forecast, so hopefully the pitch will be fine). It's a bit of a 'must win' really, and I hope we'll see a decent display - then I can say something nice on here!
  12. Every other football knockout tournament? Get a grip on yourself
  13. Understand the draw process - happens in many sports knockout competitions. But in football, venue is an issue, so why not have a coin toss once the 2 teams are sorted? It's so fecking obvious - to everyone other than the morons who run this hopelessly piss poor league.
  14. The 12th away draw for Berwick out of the last 13 cup ties!
  15. Our inability has cost us a lot of points this year.
  16. I agree that there wasn't any chance once Campbell was sacked (or stormed off in a huff), but there was every chance once Campbell retired at the end of this season, which was probably the theory all along.
  17. That worked out well for Stuart Malcolm, eh? From manager of Lowland League club, to 1st team coach and manager elect of a Championship club, to caretaker manager of that Championship club, to .....feck all. All in the space of 6 weeks.
  18. Unbeaten in the league for nearly a month.
  19. Dougie Hill has signed for Berwick for the rest of this season.
  20. We have a decent level of support and train in Edinburgh. A few players may not fancy a coach trip down the A1 every other week, but I think that issue is overstated. In short, our income is good enough to allow us to be at a comfortable level in the LL. We have lost this season to 2 EoSL teams and we should be better than that. Right now, we are in freefall, with barely enough players to raise a team for the next match. Frustratingly for the fans, there is no further communication from the Board even to it's Club 1881 fans. Maybe they are working hard to turn things round, or maybe they are sat on their fat arses eating free sandwiches. We have no idea. Tam Scobbie may well be the man to start building a decent new team. First, he needs to find some new players, then after the next few matches leading up to New Year, we'll see if he is indeed turning things in the right direction. I'm certainly not abandoning all hope, though right now being a Berwick fan is pretty embarrassing. As for those highlights, Jesus H. Our long range shooting is abysmal, we constantly give the ball away for no apparent reason, their 2nd goal was an abomination (giving the corner away was ridiculous, then Kyle Baker was as alert as a dead sloth), and we now know why Harris has never tackled anyone before.
  21. Out of yet another cup to lower league opposition. Hardly any players left and 2 suspensions coming up Berwick are sinking rapidly now, and relying on Edinburgh Uni and Gretna to continue being shite. (We had similar hopes of Albion Rovers in SPFL 2. It didn't end well.) The Chairman remains pathetically silent. I have a lot of sympathy for him considering the underlying position when he took over, but cup defeats at Musselburgh and Dunipace should make him embarrassed and angry in equal measure.
  22. Goals from Berwick v Tranent. 4th Nov https://youtu.be/vXn_OQgsEdQ?si=sTzUKGsdNx7RuspZ
  23. He's been signed for next season. And presumably won't be on the sort of money that was enjoyed by those who have been released. Stating the obvious a bit, but if we don't sign players, we won't have a team next season. Hopefully some more of the remaining current squad will sign up for Tam Scobbie too. And we aren't 'skint' - we just couldn't afford those big wages.
  24. Who'd have thought that a ref could be so self important, that he blows his whistle half way through the lone Bugler's last post, cos his minute was up.
  25. Last season was full of promise, but was derailed immediately by a terrible 6-0 defeat by Hearts B. This season - already 99% knackered - has the curtains drawn with the same result. Stuart Malcolm failed miserably with a highly paid experienced squad, and is now doing the same with some talented but raw youngsters. 3rd worst manager in our history, after Jimmy Thomson and Johnny Harvey. Commendably, he works hard and works cheap, but his teams and his tactics are pish. Hope someone keeps this thread going - see you at the end of this hopeless season.
