  1. I think there will be a few more permanent signings, and a repeat of several loanees. (4 really good loanees from St. Johnstone last season). No probs with having an open day - plenty of out of contract players looking for a club who may be worth looking at. The core of the team - Antell, Nelson, McCormack, O'Connor, Barr, Buchanan, Laidlaw - is strong, and I expect an improved league position this year. But We need to repair finances (and rising gate numbers & sponsorship will slowly do that), so I doubt we'll be strong enough to compete at the top Who knows, though. This is Thomas Scobbie's first full season. I think he could be our best manager for a generation.
  2. Oops. Yeah - he was signed a while ago. Forgot!
  3. Berwick have been £10 on the day since we came down from Div 2. Felt expensive at the time, but others have now crept up to meet us. Season tickets are £130. Club 1881 is £18.81 per month includes admission, online programme, advance info and a few other things.
  4. Quiet pre-season for Berwick. Jonny Devers (Whitehill) signed a few weeks ago and Alfie Robinson (Gretna/Broomhill) has signed today. Add to that, Kane O'Connor who didn't play at all last season due to injury. Much of the squad last year has been re-signed.
  5. Have EK announced which players from last season will leave the club?
  6. No it isn't. Much of it is absolute bollocks.
  7. Several Berwick fans asking why we were invited in. No obvious logic to it. We won't be saying "no" though.
  8. Jonny Devers has signed for Berwick. Any thoughts about him from WW fans?
  9. Here's Jackson scoring after 9 seconds on Saturday! https://www.facebook.com/share/v/LC6HaPA5QjF1QtQR/
  10. I'd love Berwick to sign all 4 to be honest. Bailey played in lots of different positions and would probably have benefitted from some consistency in terms of the number on his back. Always put a decent shift in and became a key player for us when we lost some of the squad mid-season. Still only 18. Think the others are only 17! Scott Bright did well at full back, but his age (and some competition from more experienced people in our squad,), maybe meant he was on the bench more than he deserved. Bright by name, and bright on the pitch too. Jackson Mylchreest has a real big future ahead of him. Often led our line when Buchanan wasn't available and scored (I think) 9 or 10 times. Goalscorers are gold dust and he is likely to be in demand higher up the leagues next year. For me though, the pick was actually Joe Ellison. Plays with real confidence and absolutely loves a tackle. Great to watch and never let us down. Please release them all and tell them to sign for a club that appreciates them!
  11. End of an eventful season at Berwick. Sadly, most of the events happened off the pitch and pre-season optimism soon fizzled out. 13th of 18 isn't what we hoped for. But... there is definitely a feel-good factor about the club once again, under the new Chairman and the new Manager. Our best players have re-signed and the fans are looking forward to next season. Rumours of a few decent signings add to the anticipation. Crowds are on the up -regularly over 400. (510 at Shielfield yesterday helped by a decent following from Albion). I looked randomly at a game in 2013 - when we got into the Div 2 playoffs - and we had 456 there in March against Queens Park. It's all fairly healthy looking now and the ladies team are smashing records in their 1st season. Just need to win a few more games next season!
  12. We shouldn't schedule any league or Scottish cup games midweek. There are 40 Saturdays between 27 July and the end of April '25. Berwick played at least 4 league games midweek before the leaves fell off the trees, and have had several free Saturdays recently. After filling up those free weeks where possible, use midweek for minor cups, replays and postponements. Cramming in games early leads to injuries and does nothing for cash flow.
  13. You obviously deserve the courtesy of a reply, but I wasn't referring to the fans so it's not my place to say any more. Let's just say that I don't think the dressing room was the happiest place back then. As for the fans, Pat Scullion's departure wasn't met with great sorrow. He had several decent games and some absolute stinkers - some of them laughably bad.
  14. Street parking is your best bet. Anywhere you can find near the ground.
  15. Listened to it. His departure from Berwick bears no resemblance to what I heard at the time. Won't say any more as I may have been misinformed, and it's all irrelevant now anyway.
  16. Naw. He's a good player. Had some great performances for us last season. Whole team got slowly worse under Stu Malcolm amidst rumours that he (Malcolm) had 'lost the dressing room'. Culminated in an absolute drubbing in the cup at Brora, which itself precipitated the fire sale.
  17. He was shite for the first few months ...
  18. And now Callum Antell has signed too.
  19. How is David Ferguson doing for you? I see he doesn't play every week, but started yesterday. He was Berwick's standout player for 2 or 3 years and we'd have him back in a heartbeat.
  20. Already looking forward to next season. The squad looked good last season and the start of this, but it already looks better now, and this time it is led by a much better manager.
  21. Jamie has been a big - and popular - player for us this season, but has had many cards. His name is pre-printed in referees notebooks, so they just have to tick the appropriate box. Just a sign that he is beginning to reign it in, and I'm hugely chuffed he is staying next season. Scored the first v Cowden today.
  22. Jamie McCormack has signed a new contract for us for next season. Hugely important signing for us. Kay, Nelson, McCormack, McKay, Barr, O'Connor, Buchanan, Harris, Laidlaw, is a great core squad to already have signed for next season. Scroll up to see several posts announcing our demise and financial armageddon, just a few short months ago. Regular 400+ crowds are the key. Just ask Edinburgh City. (And East Kilbride in a year or two)
  23. You've got enough defenders for the entire League. Can we have David Ferguson back, please?
  24. Berwick should have won comfortably yesterday, but Shire worked hard and never gave up, giving their fans a rewarding day out. Some good saves, some glaring misses and some late defensive cock-ups. Learning day for our youngsters (and some of the oldies too)
  25. 5 wins in a row for Berwick. Rumours of our demise have been greatly exaggerated.... Tam Scobbie turning things around with a reduced budget, several loanees, 'big' players sitting on the bench elsewhere and 3 key players missing yesterday. We'll have further setbacks, but this team is so much better than the dross dished up by Stu Malcolm. Still have nightmares about our gruesome performance at Musselburgh in some crappy cup tie a few months ago. Decent crowd expected against Shire next Saturday.
