Can't believe this topic starter only got 55 downvotes.

Netherlands are only estimated pot 3 because they have a tricky tie against Greece tonight, however if they win that they will be almost guaranteed 18 points which will surely be enough for pot 2
Sure, but if we beat Georgia so will we. Then we've got Norway for a 1 or 3 point bonus.
I think (?) if we win our last two, there's no team that could beat us to the last pot2 berth.

There needs to be a concerted effort to prioritise Hampden redevelopment now.
Its the only chance of getting central government funding diverted, the SFA bigwig dampening expectations at this early point is an absolute disgrace
Good luck with that!

Tonight was a good demonstration to myself that we should leave fitba to the experts.
It maybe didn't count, but I was saying before he launched the ball into the top corner... "what the fcuk is a 6'4" guy taking the freekick for?"

Aye I forgot halfway through typing what the context even was so apologies for going off on a tangent.
FWIW, I think looking other countries that share a stadium needs more context. Unlike other countries our capital isn’t our biggest city, and one is seen as a rugby city and the other a football one. The idea of merging into one stadium isn’t as straightforward.
Hampden also has a massive part in footballing history, so I don’t like the thought of it being bulldozed and playing elsewhere.
Don't disagree generally, but, it leaves us playing in a shit stadium that's going to remain shit.
Coming from Dundee, I couldn't give two hoots if the national stadium was in Glasgow or Edinburgh.

The Millennium that Wales stopped using for football years ago because it wasn't suitable for them?
They stopped using it (as far as I'm aware) because they were getting crap crowds so went with a smaller venue.

Difference being that the City of Manchester Stadium was designed with that plan, so the permanent stands built for the Commonwealth games have a suitably steep rake so when the ground was lowered and lower tier build they had a good view of the new pitch; Hampden's seats are at such a shallow rake that if the pitch was lowered (and I don't think it can because of a river or sewer or culvert under the park?) most seats won't see the nearside half of the pitch.
So it's unsalvageable then? Knock the fcuker down - along with Murrayfield and build a stadium for both sports ala the Millennium.
Haha. I know, silly idea!

I’m no expert on civil engineering the only two options that spring to mind for expansion would be to lower the pitch, remove the running track and add more rows of seating to the front
Isn't this what they did with the Etihad - you'd never know that it once had an athletics track there.

Any other posters on here regular watchers of DUTV?
Pay for it but never watch it.
Just come across this though which is a bit more entertaining than the club's content...

I wasn’t as strongly against the McTominay CB thing as most posters here but now, in 2023, it’s not going to happen again. Not when his runs into the box have generated six goals in five qualifiers.

A bit far from where the games are being played, hopefully the flights are cheap enough since Ireland aren’t likely to qualify.
just add an umlaut

I've got zero points so have banged in requests for a game a day across the group stages in the North Rhine-Westphalia region. Will cost me nearly £2k if I get them all, but I doubt that. 2 or 3 if I'm lucky.
Hotel booked for Munster - cheap enough cos nobody else will be going there

Clarke didn't rule out potentially switching to 4 atb in the absence of KT. Wouldn't be averse to it, the only issue is that we don't really have any wingers so would need to adapt accordingly
Something like
Gunn
Hickey-Porteous-Hendry-Robertson
McTominay-Gilmour-McGregor
Christie-Adams-McGinn
Actually that's not so bad and fits in both McTominay and Christie who I think would have been fighting for one spot
I think that would be the default against lesser teams - we'll probably line-up 541 against Spain, so sub out Christie for another CB.

The madness of supporting United in this era - talented youngsters are getting swooped for before I've even recognised that they exist.

He's not a kid. He's 28
Porteous was 22. The difference is Porteous has the potential to play at the top level. Gauld has found his.
Well 27. And we have different outlooks on age I guess.

While this is obviously true - a player can't contribute if they don't get a chance - Clarke is a clever guy and I usually trust him to know if a player will fit into his team based on what he's seen of them at club level. He'll make mistakes, and maybe overlooking Gauld has been one, but imo he's earned the right to be given the benefit of the doubt.
Of course he has.
Hail King Clarke.
I'm just saying call the kid up, once, just once, see what he looks like in camp. I honestly don't see what the harm in it is.
It's often players that just get a single chance that surprise you - who honestly would have predicted (a year ago) before he was called up that Porteous (for example) would now be a nailed-on starter?

Stuart Armstrong is better than Ryan Gauld. It was true when they were both at Dundee United, it was true when he was playing for Celtic and then for Southampton in the Premier League while Gauld was in the Portuguese second tier, and it's still true now.
With respect, you're talking out of your pooper!
There was a reason Gauld was snapped up by Sporting Lisbon aged 18. Armstrong (who I fcuking love) was 23 and had seen Gauld and Robbo snapped up before him before he made the short trip down the road to Celtic for half the money.
An argument could be made that Armstrong developed more than Gauld, but when they were playing together at United, it was Gauld who was the star attraction.
Who could honestly tell if Gauld is a better option now - unless we give him one single fecking chance.
12 goals and 15 assists. In a 29 team league he's 7th for assists and 14th for goals.

I've picked a game a day from the North Rhine-Westphalia cities and parked myself there for the tourny.
